Reader’s Tattoo Review

We at Tween Magazine would like to thanks the nearly two thousand tweenage girls who sent in pictures of their tattoos for our annual Tween Magazine Readers' Tattoo Review. As usual the magazine article only contains what our panel judges (each of them highly respected in their individual area of expertise) determined to be the best. This year there are eight that really stand out.
The panel of judges: P. Ed O'Phile (fashion consultant for Tween Magazine), Hep Orr-Titus (president of the International Federation of Tattoo Artists), Svetlana Heertlov (fashion designer), and Bebe Swallows (managing director of Tween Inc & former professional cheerleader)

No. 8: Nine year old Alicia has a great little tattoo on her lower back. According to the "more info" section of her entry form; the black outline work was done in March of last year. Every three months since she's had a color added to it. The white tips of the outstretched eagle wings nearly reach the sides of her slender lower back. Below them in dark green a beautifully delicate double curve trimmed with holly leaves encircles a pink heart. The single blue star at the very top brings the whole thing together.
No. 7: Eleven year old Janeshia has a quite unusual tattoo...well technically two of them. According to the "more info" section of her entry form; her grandmother made a big deal out of the fact that she doesn't wear stockings when she wears skirts and dresses, so she had all of both legs tattooed white. This particular tattoo is so unusual that it warrants two photos... As you can see in the other photo the entirety of both of her feet are tattooed white as well. Were it not for her bright pink toenails appearing out of what looks like a white stocking covering her foot anyone who looks at her feet and legs would swear she was wearing sheer white stockings.
No. 6: Eight year old Jenna, the youngest of our top ten, wears a series of five stars down the inside of her upper right thigh. According to the "more info" section of her entry form; each star represents an important achievement in her life. The gold star near the top represents having had sex with a teenage boy, the brown star below it is for having smoked an entire pack of cigarettes in an hour, the gold star is for having drank an entire case of beer in one night, the green star is for using a bush instead of a toilet for an entire month, and the blue star at the very bottom is for having swam all the way across Bloodlay Straight (from Himun Bluff on Vergen Island to Cock's Point on Santa Puta Island) naked.
No. 5: Ten year old Jiang had a very elegant necklace tattoo. According to the "more info" section of her entry form; she couldn't find a jade Aphrodite pendant, so she had one tattooed onto her upper chest. She also said she plans on getting an implant in her chest to make the "jade pendant" project out, so it will look more realistic. Look closely at the intricate detail of the gold "chain" around her neck: a true work of art...
No. 4: Twelve year old Lacy's tattoo is by far the smallest and simplest of our finalists, but it is also in the most unique location. If you think the skin around her tattoo seems awfully pink that's because her tattoo is on the inside of her lower lip. According to the "more info" section of her entry form; the words "cream please" refer to the fact that she has eaten one or more meals every day that had a guy's cream mixed into the food for the past four years.
No. 3: Nine year old Katie has an unusual tattoo in an unusual location...and an unusual story to go with it. On her upper back, directly behind her lungs, is a pair of solid black lung shaped tattoos. According to the "more info" section of her entry form; she has been smoking in excess of two packs of filter-less cigarettes per day for as long as she can remember: she loves smoking and wants the world to know she is proud to have black lungs. While her tattoos are far from the greatest pieces of art we've seen, the story behind them is remarkable and commendable enough that she deserves a place on our top ten.
No. 2: Our runner up!!! Ten year old Zamira has what may be one of the most beautifully done arm tattoos any of our judges have ever seen. The orange and black snake-like serpent that wraps its way down her right arm (her hand being its open mouth) is truly a masterpiece. It was deemed to be second best only because of it was less personal than all the others...
She will be receiving a free one year subscription to Tween Magazine, a $300 gift certificate to Tween Closet, a $600 gift certificate to Tween Living, the ring (jewelry) lighter of her choice, and a 12-ounce bottle of SkinBronzer TanningOil.
No. 1: Our best tattoo winner!!! Eleven year old Chrissy has a fairly small tattoo quite low on her back. The beauty here lays in its simplicity the words "like me? for fun text `out call' to Chrissy at klj-2286*" simply cross her back just above her butt-crack. According to the "more info" section of her entry form; she wasn't meeting enough guys before she got her tattoo, so she will meet with any guy for some fun (provided he lives locally) who sends her a text.
