Fish Tank Help

You need help? Oh, you are in big trouble.

I'm excited! So how do I participate in The Fish Tank?

Stories and comments were originally posted in the Usenet newsgroup alt.sex.stories.d. To join in the discussions, you'll need to learn how to use the newsgroup feature of your Internet connection. "alt.sex.stories.d" is the discussion group for the sex story newsgroups, and several authors hang out there and discuss sex, writing, and anything else that springs to mind.

Once you get to ASSD, look for the Fish Tank threads, which usually have titles that look like "{ASSD} FT #107 Fuck Me by Jackie". Just jump into the fray and have a good time.

My ISP doesn't provide Usenet access, or it doesn't carry alt.sex.stories.d. What do I do?

There are a couple options. You can purchase Usenet access from commercial providers (Newsguy and Supernews are two big ones), or you can use Google Groups, which provides a free web-based interface to Usenet.

How come some of the stories are missing story codes? I don't want to read stories that I might find offensive.

It is up the individual authors to provide story codes for their own stories. The Fish Tank moderators are not in the business of assigning story codes.

That said, we encourage you to read uncoded stories. Even if the subject matter is not something you would ordinarily enjoy, an author who is going to the trouble of submitting a story for peer review is probably serious enough about his or her writing that the story is probably still worth reading.

I have a story being reviewed, but I'm not supposed to comment until midnight on Friday? I understand that part, but which time zone?

The Fish Tank rules are flexible. The midnight deadline is there just so everyone has an opportunity to comment on your story before you chime in. The world will not end if you post three hours early or two days late.

In other words, don't worry about it, do whatever is most convenient for you.

I think the two-plus-two rule is stupid. I don't want to do them. Besides, sometimes it's too hard.

The Fish Tank rules are not inflexible. If it doesn't make sense to follow the rules in a particular instance, do whatever you think is right.

I have another question not covered by anything I've seen so far. What do I do now?
