If you like Mr. Somers' site, here is what you should do:
Some people ask about the Creative Commons License. It means two things.
First, if you want to put a copy of one of Mr. Somers' stories or commentaries on your web site, or in your book or magazine, you can go ahead and do it! Mr. Somers will be so surprised! But if you do, you have to do one important thing for him: you must be sure to tell your readers that Mr. Will Somers wrote it. That's all!
Second, if you want to start with one of Mr. Somers' stories and rewrite parts of it, that's OK too. All you have to do is be sure you tell your readers the name of the story you started with, and tell them that Mr. Will Somers wrote the story. And to be fair, you have to let other people copy and make changes to your story, just like you copied and made changes to Mr. Somers' story. Share and share alike!
Mr. Somers loves to write stories, and sometimes he starts a new story by changing someone else's story. Sometimes the other story is OK, but he wants the people to be older, or younger, or to wear different clothes, or do different things. Of course, those aren't his stories, not all together. If Mr. Somers includes materials from another story, he says so in the story itself.
If you hate this site, remember the old saying:
The antidote for bad speech is more speech.
If you want to convince Mr. Somers to stop writing things like this, then you should write about this on your own web site or blog. If your words are so clear and simple that even Mr. Somers will listen and understand, then you really need to share them with everyone on the Internet. Don't waste your words just on Mr. Somers! He's a nice man, (really!) but he's not worth it.
The best way to get Mr. Somers to stop is, of course, to just ignore him.
