Maria Gonzales: The Columnist?

I'm sure you're
asking, "What's this? Maria Gonzales is writing something
that isn't fiction?" Yes, I am. Writing fiction can be hard
work. Coming up with new ideas that haven't been written a million
times before and creating compelling characters isn't easy, even
to somebody with an imagination as vivid as I admittedly have.
But I like to write. No, I love to write. It doesn't even matter
to me if anybody reads what I write or likes what I write. Writing
is relaxing and stimulating at the same time. Much to my husband's
dismay, my favorite thing to do is to sit at my computer, the
television tuned to a steamy novela, and write. So that's what
I'm going to do. Twice a week, sometimes more, sometime less,
I'll write a little thousand word or so column. Sometimes it will
be a rant about something I've seen and sometimes it will just
be me blathering on like an idiot.
Being a
columnist would be my dream job, but I can't imagine a newspaper
or magazine hiring a twenty-something mother of four Mexican immigrant
with little writing ability as a columnist. Not even the most
desperate website would hire somebody like me, so I'll just write
my little columns and post them here on my little insignificant
web site, where people can read them or ignore them as they wish.
Believe me, I do understand that my opinions and thoughts aren't
important to anybody but myself. I just have fun writing and writing
fiction all the time can be tiring.
I'll write
about whatever pops into my head. Sometimes I'll write about erotica,
sometimes I'll write about my real life and sometimes I'll even
write about something going on in the real world.
