War Stories 3

by Kieran Richards

As the trio entered the trench, Holly ran straight to the medical bunker to see Kath. Anton and Cassandra went to a tent for questioning.

“Hi baby,” Kath said as Holly poked her head round the curtain. “How’d your trip go?”

“I blew a man’s knee caps off and found out Anton’s name,” Holly said walking up to the bed and French kissing Kath deeply.

“What happened to the guy with no knee caps?” Kath asked.

“He got his head blown off by Anton, seemed like an old friend.”

“Well Anton has been around.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Well he seems to be good at making enemies.”

“Oh, well this one seemed to be a school friend. They had an argument about Anton being a traitor to his own kind.”

“A school friend!?! He never even let on that any had survived the first charge. Anyway you obviously came in here for something didn’t you?” Holly kissed Kath again and jumped bed with her.

“OK so when did you join the war?” Anton asked looking across the table at Cassandra.

“Well I joined last year when my town was liberated,” she answered back.

“How old are you?”

“Twenty seven.” There was a slurping sound from under the table. “May I just ask, are you gay?”

“No.”

“Why are you hear then?”

“Because the officious cunts on the other side of no mans land can go blow their own brains out for all I care. I lost two of my best friends in the first charge. From then on in I did my best to make sure no other innocent people were murdered by those fuck wits over there!” he had a far away look in his eye and then refocused. “Anyway I thought I was doing the interrogating?” Cassandra flinched and moaned.

“Sorry.” She gasped and her body went into spasm. Anton sat there quietly until she stopped.

“Yum” Said a voice from under the table. “You taste goo-.” There was a thump and a yelp. “Ow what did you do that for!?!”

“I thought I told you to keep quiet. I can cope with you doing it in the first place but I do have a problem when you make sound!” Anton glared at a spot on the table.

Holly and Kath lay there kissing until Holly withdrew.

“How long have you Known Anton?”

“About eighteen months, why do you ask?”

“I just wanted to know whether you liked him that’s all.”

“He is a nice person but he needs to trust you. He used to kiss me when we first became friends.”

“So he’s straight?”

“As a board, but I don’t think he thinks about it like that. He always seems more open to girls. He was transferred here because he broke another man's nose while he was serving in Russia.” They kissed again as the night wore on.

“Hi girls.” Anton appeared at the curtain and walked over to them. Kath leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. The three of them lay together and eventually passed into the welcoming embrace of sleep.
