About Me

Is Heliotrope Male or Female?

Even though many of my stories are written from a man's point of view, I am actually a woman.  I am a married mother of two children ages 10 and almost 12.  I am a voracious reader, a movie buff, and enjoy hiking, photography, stone carving, and writing.  Though I'm not a lesbian, I think women's bodies are beautiful and mysterious, and so I tend to take the man's point of view in order to fully explore his appreciation of her body.   I like to look at pictures of nude or partially nude women, not to "get off," but just to admire them like one might admire a painting or landscape.  Sometimes I get turned on, too, but that's just for dessert.  :)

A new interest is web page design, and this site is my first attempt.  It's fun experimenting with different features such as fonts, .gif files, and colors.

The stories you find here are the first of many.  I will be adding many more as time goes on.  A favorite topic of mine is older woman-younger man relationships, and yes, I have been in those sort of relationships, so I know what I'm talking about. ;)

Why Do I Write Romances?

The picture above is from a site hosted by The Enneagram Institute. Without getting into too much detail, there are nine distinct personality types, and numerous subtypes of each.  I am a Type Four, or Individualist (sometimes called Artist).  The Type Four is introverted, romantic and sexual (what a surprise!), and likes to  express their strong feelings through creative pursuits.  They can become easily depressed though, and can be self-centered and morose. They like to fantasize, and their sexual fantasies are very rich because of their active imaginations.  So many writers, especially romantic writers like myself, are Type Fours.    For those of you familiar with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Fours are analogous to the INFP personality type, or occasionally the INFJ.

But this isn't a psychology paper so that's all I'll say here about that.

For those of you (like myself) who like their sex romantic and emotional and still detailed and explicit (and love sensitive guys), may I suggest Scott Spencer's exquisite 1979 novel of romantic obsession, Endless Love. Unfortunately, it's out of print now but if you can get your hands on a copy of it, grab it immediately!   The 1981 movie starring Brooke Shields was horrible, but don't let the bad reviews of that bomb keep you from reading the book. There is no comparison between the book and the movie.

Where Do My Characters Come From?

All my characters are fictional, but some are based on people I know or have known.  Some characters combine elements from several people I know, particularly the male characters, while the minor characters are usually completely made up.  You may notice my male characters tend to be on the "sensitive" side.  I've always found men who show their feelings easily incredibly sexual (and in touch with their sexuality), and I enjoy writing about them not only because I've been intimate with them but because they just plain turn me on.

Do I Get Turned On When I Write These Stories?

Yes.  :)

Why I Haven't Added New Stories recently

I have just finished my first novel, The Company of the Living, a non-pornographic story spanning the life of a 38 year old man and his twin sister from the years 1971 through the present.  There are sex scenes in the novel, but it is essentially mainstream (non-pornographic).   I have completed the second revision, and have been pretty much working on it 24-7 so I haven't had time to do much else.
