This list is primarily alphabetical; it answers the question
"What does this code mean?" If you are looking for one sort
of story, and want the code for that, then try:
The code serves both as an advertisement and as a warning label. If you want stories about women being forced into sex, look for (nc) or (rape). If you would rather not read that sort of story, avoid ones with those labels. Generally, it's wiser to avoid unlabeled stories. For that matter, most unlabeled posts (on a.s.s -- a.s.s.moderated is different) are spam rather than stories. This is a report on what codes have been used. The list here is also in the order which a reader is likely to need them, a short description of the very commonest set, and then the rest in alphabetical order. These codes break down into two or three categories. |
Caution"caution" Something in the story might offend (or even sicken) you, but the author isn't telling you what. |
Sex, Age, and Number
"M,m,b" are all males.
"b" is always a young boy, should be up to 12.
"F,f,g" are all females.
"g" is a young girl, should be up to 12.
"M,F" should be adults, 18 and older.
"m,f" should be teens, 13 - 17.
"t" is a teenage male (used in gay stories).
They aren't always, because posters are careless (or
clueless). Also, in the bondage/dominance community, "M" is
a male dominant, "m" is a male submissive, etc.
MF is adult heterosexual sex
ff is teen lesbian sex
MMM~f means adult men gang-banging a teenaged girl
MMM/f means adult men gang-banging a teenaged girl
etc.
M+F Means several men and one woman
MF+ Means one man and several women
Fembot A female robot, designed to give sexual pleasure.
fembot A version of the same, designed to look like a teenaged girl.
H A hermaphrodite adult.
h A hermaphrodite under 18.
The presence or absence of "/" doesn't mean much except on
dominance stories. In those stories the one(s) to the left of
the slash are dominating those to the right of the slash.
When it is used, ~ means "with." M~dog is "man with a dog. M~mf
means that an adult man has sex with both a teen boy and a teen
girl. Mm~f means that both an adult man and a teen boy have sex
with a teen girl.

Style
All of these might be capitalized. Usually no difference.
1st First time, or first MM or FF activity.
Occasionally, the first time doing some
particular form of sexual activity.
alien Sex involving someone, or something, from off Earth.
anal Anal sex.
BBW "Big Beautiful Women," Appreciation of fat women.
BC (with interr) Black Couple
bd means bondage (and discipline)
bear Hairy male. Usually gay. (Grizzly Adams)
beast Bestiality, sex with animals (should be "best").
best Bestiality, sex with animals.
BF Black Female (in an interracial story).
bi Bisexuality of one or more characters.
bibl Bible. Based on a biblical story.
blackmail Gaining sex through threat of exposure.
BM Black Male (in an interracial story).
bondage means bondage (should be bd)
breast Abnormally large breasts
caution Something in the story might offend (or even
sicken) you, but the author isn't telling you what.
cbt Cock and ball torture.
cd Cross dressing (should be tv).
Celeb The story is about a celebrity.
cheat Married or committed people having sex outside of the
commitment, cheating on their partner, as distinct
from swinging.
coll College-theme
cons [or con] The sex is consensual. This should mean that
ALL the sex is consensual, but some authors use
"cons nc" to mean that only some is.
creampie is one man's ejaculate as sucked out of a woman's
vagina and consumed by (usually another) man
cuckold The story involves the feeling of humiliation of a man's
knowing that another has replaced him in his wife's bed
dom refers to dominance and submission, should be ds.
dream Sexual activity during a dream, (daydream or sleep.)
ds [or d/s] dominance and submission.
enem Enemas
exhib Exhibitionism.
fat Involves fat people
Fdom [or femdom] a dominant female
feet Foot or shoe fetish-story
Fembot A female robot, designed to give sexual pleasure.
fembot A version of the same, designed to look like a teenaged girl.
filk New lyrics to a familiar (originally a folk) tune.
fist Fisting, insertion of the entire hand into anus or vagina.
furry Animals with human characteristics. Werewolf or Mickey
Mouse.
giant Abnormally large (tall) persons
goth Gothic (dark) setting
H (h, if underage) hermaphrodite
hair Hair fetish
hirs Hirsute - natural unshaved genitals and/or armpits
hist Has a historical theme
hs High School-theme
humil Humiliation
humor Humor. The story is intended to be funny
HYP Hypnolove. Consensual hypnotism to increase sexual
pleasure of both.
ir (or i/r) Interracial (should be "interr").
inc Incest.
inf Infantilism
interr Interracial.
job Place-of-work theme
lac [Lactation] Human milk
magic Not only magic, per se, but also demons, fantasy
worlds, etc.
mast Masturbation, should be _solo. [Some authors use (mast)
for (pett)]
mc "mind-control" a big subgenre.
Mdom a dominant male.
menstr Sex during a woman's menstruation
nc is non-consensual. This is rape in law, but the style
may be different.
nec [Necrophilia] Sex with a dead person
nosex There is no intercourse in the story. This is a preemptive code
in the sense that it overrides any implication of
intercourse by other codes used.
oral Oral-genital contact
parody Imitation of a style or particular story with
the intent to amuse.
ped [Pedophilia] Some participants age 12 or below.
pett Heavy petting
piv [Penis in vagina] "Straight" sex.
preg [Pregnancy] Either impregnation or sex with a pregnant woman.
Preteen Ages 12 and below. Should be Mg or something similar.
rape is rape.
real Supposedly true
reluc Woman says no, but loves it when she is raped.
rim Oral-anal contact.
rom [Romantic] Meanst that all sexual acts are consensual
(althouugh some writers use this code very strangely)
and at least some of them spring from the love that one
of the characters feels for another.
rough Consensually rough sex, not always sm
sad [Sadism] For "just" inflicting pain
safe Safe sex
scat [Scatology] Fun with feces
ScFi Science fiction setting. Please note spelling
size Overdeveloped body-parts
slash (Usually) homosexual intercourse in fanfic.
sm Sadomasochism, pain for the pleasure of both.
snuff Killing which is supposed to arouse you.
_solo Masturbation, as in Fsolo = masturbation by an adult woman.
span [Spanking], mild sm.
spank [Spanking], mild sm.
stroke The author intended it simply to arouse.
swing Swinging. Mutually consensual adultery.
teen Teenagers. Should be "mf" or something similar.
tg Trans-gender, men being changed into women (or vice
versa).
tort Torture.
toys Vibrators or other adult toys.
tragic The story ends sadly.
true Supposedly true.
tv Transvestite: men dressing as women.
twink gay male: Young and hairless-type (Tom Cruise)
va Verbal abuse. [Abusive and "dirty" language]
veg Vegetable. Sex with food.
viol Violence, not necessarily connected to the sex.
virg Virgin (should be 1st).
vore Eating (literally) someone or something alive. Think Jonah.
voy Voyeurism, peeking.
WC (with interr) White Couple
wife Wife watching (participatory cuckoldry)
WF White Female (in an interracial story).
wl [Wedded Lust] Sex within the marital relationship.
WM White Male (in an interracial story).
ws Water sports. Pissing.
yng Participants are young. (Should be the specified ages
above).
zoo [Zoophilia] Caring and consensual sexual relationships
between humans and animals.

Note that there are many codes implying lack of consent. blackmail Gaining sex through threat of exposure. mc "mind-control" nc is non-consensual. This is rape in law, but the style may be different. rape is rape. reluc Woman says no, but loves it when she is raped. While there has been an attempt to attach "nc" (or "rape") to all the special non-consensual codes, most authors do not.
Also, there are a variety of life-style groups whose stories spill over into alt.sex.stories and alt.sex.stories.moderated. We've attempted to give a short description of what you'll see in these stories; but we don't capture the subtleties, much less the points under dispute within the groups themselves. |

These codes should, but might not, be included within ( parentheses ). Codes outside the parenthesis might be the story codes. Or they
might mean something different.
"nnd" Is not a code. It is Roller's ongoing series about
"naughty, naked dreamgirls." Take the word "girls"
seriously.
"REP" or "rep" is a repost.
"RP" or "rp" is a repost.
"REV" or "rev" is a revision. This is a story which has been
changed, usually in the quality of the writing,
usually by the author.
"TV" sometimes means Television instead of transvestite.
"ST-TNG" Star-Trek, the next generation. If you have to ask,
you don't want to read it.
Also:
{ASS} or {ASSM} at the beginning of a post almost always
means that it is a real story, rather than spam.
[3/7] means that it is the third chapter of seven.
Some posters use [1/1] irrationally when it is really part of a multipart story. [3/?] means that the author hasn't written any more yet, but might some day. [0/5] means that it is an introduction, either description of the story to come or a non- sexual part which leads into the sexual part of the story. |
