Echoes (MF, rom)
by Anonymous

*

It's cold and it's black and there's no one here at all.

She hits you and you float slowly back up to consciousness.

Face tingles and sparks of light shimmer before your eyes.

I bite your hand hard.

The cold numbs your hands and you can't move them to warm them.

She sighs, and her sighing echoes down a long hallway.

You shake your head to clear it.

You walk slowly away from me, heels clicking on the cool tile floor.
In the hollow of your neck you feel my breathing.

I want you to hit me, and I beg you for it, but you've already gone,
abandoned me.

We huddle together against the night.

You are hanging suspended arms above head swathed in dark cloth
breathing the heat of your own body breathing, and I am walking around
you slowly not hurrying and you hear me and you feel my presence moving,
the rhythm and the raggedness of your breathing sharp drawn knowing what
I'm doing and anticipating what, in a moment, I am going to do.

She lashes out, and I taste the blood on my lips.

Salt taste of you. Sun shines white-hot blinding, sky a blue glare. Our
movements languid in the swelter of midday. Sweat beads on your forehead
and slicks the hollows of your body. We rock slowly, dozing together,
sharing dreams, every now and then stirred by a gentle breeze.

She gets up and leaves abruptly.

She does not know where she is going, or why she is compelled to leave.

I am panicking because you have left me here and gone away.

I am frozen, unable to move or speak.

There is a large gash over my left eye, and a heart shaped bruise slowly
purples on my arm.

I would crawl inside you if I could, and stay forever.

She is walking away from you and you are reaching out to stop her.

Alone in her room, she is sobbing bitterly.
