Finally she spoke, but only to twist the knife even
further.
"You have been dismissed from your position at the
bank, and currently any application by you for
references will be met with a hostile response. This is
for your own good and is to encourage you to play ball
with me in achieving your total rehabilitation. I have
the power to change the reference situation and the
records as I see fit."
I have prepared the necessary papers to arrange a loan
from Shedom International to you, in order that all
your financial affairs can be cleared up. The rates of
interest in the contract are high, as is normally the
case in such loans. I also have the power to reduce the
interest rates, retrospectively, if and when I see
fit."
Donal was by now suffering extreme discomfort as a
result of his ogling. He decided to see sense, averted
his eyes and tried to concentrate solely on what Karin
was saying.
"Since you have admitted your guilt, there is no need
to bother with a trial, I have decided on your sentence
myself. Your prison sentence, initially a three year
period, will be served under me! As is the case in
conventional prison sentences, adjustment will be made
for good behaviour. Also, as in prison, you will be
paid a pittance, which will mean interest will be
rolling up on your debt faster than you can possibly
repay it. This would also be the case were you to serve
a conventional prison sentence, the only difference is
that, unlike conventional financial institutions, I
will consider your behaviour as a factor in determining
your financial liability to my company."
"Your alternatives therefore remain the same as in your
last interview with me. You have had a taste of the
regime I intend to use in your rehabilitation and you
can now make an informed decision. Submit to my control
or take the consequences for your fraudulent
activities. I will give you an hour to think the matter
over. I have a book I will read, you will read
these....."
Several papers and a pen were launched at him from the
other side of the desk, and landed in his lap. Karin
leant down to a drawer by her side and took out a book.
Donal only got a quick glimpse of the cover but it
looked like one of those kinky S.M. books you sometimes
saw on the top shelves in newsagents.
Karin sat there feeling pleased with herself. She loved
to make her outrageous demands sound reasonable, as if
she were an unbiased solicitor advising her client
about his options, when in fact she had manipulated all
his options to suit her own ends.
Meanwhile, Donal concentrated on reading through the
fine print of the papers. One was a conventional loan
agreement, he'd seen many of at the bank. It was open
and straightforward and the amount seemed likely to be
the total of his debts. There was an authorization to
transfer the funds to his bank account, and standing
order forms to settle his various debts. There was a
simple contract whereby Donal agreed that he wished to
devote himself to serving Shedom International and that
in recompense for his previously confessed crimes, he
wished little or no payment.
Lastly there was a personal letter from him to Karin.
It said that he admired her and found her sexually
attractive and that being a masochist, he wished to
subject himself totally to her control and treatment.
