Celeste's Top 20 Stories - February, 1998

Note: Even though guest reviewers write the posted reviews of some of these
stories, I read any story that I think may be likely to win a monthly or
annual award. I personally take responsibility {and blame} for these lists.
If someone else wants to publish an alternate list of awards, that's fine with
me.

Second Note: Since many readers would like to read the top stories for each
month, I have suggested that authors might like to repost as many of these
stories as possible. However, we may have a better solution. Beginning with
this issue, I am going to post STORY LINKS after each story in the Top 20
List. By pasting these into the appropriate line of your web browser, you
should be able to go straight to that story. Please give me your feedback
regarding the effectiveness of this procedure.

Third Note: I have also had great success finding these stories on the World
Wide Web by using the Deja News Server (www.dejanews.com). In addition, most
of these stories have been posted and archived through
alt.sex.stories.moderated. You can even find past issues of my reviews
through these services.

Fourth Note: To be eligible for my Top 20 List for any month, I have to have
read the story for the first time that month and reviewed it in CR.
Therefore, reposted stories whose old reviews I repost are not eligible
(unless they are substantially revised), but an "old" story that comes to my
attention and is reviewed for the first time would be eligible. If anyone
else wants to post a "rival" Top 20 list, feel free to do so. You can even
include my reviews, if you don't want to write your own.

Final note: I have decided to declare Bronwen's "Kim Nice-but-Dim" ineligible
for this month's award. This is because essentially the same story has
already been a Number 1 Story for a previous month, as well as one of my Top
Stories for 1997. If you have not read that story, I encourage you to take a
look at it.

- Celeste

          http://x4.dejanews.com/getdoc.xp?AN=328591247

Here are this month's reviews in alphabetical order:

"Always the Same" by Sven the Elder (sven@brass-neck.demon.co.uk). Most
Americans named Jay are males. From this story we learn that there is at
least one female in Britain with that name. Sven can tell she's a female from
the nice way she fills out her leotard while they work out together at the
club. Jay has been flirting with Sven, and she can perhaps tell that he is a
male by the nice way his half-erection fills out his shorts. Raging hard-ons
just don't work really well on exercise machines - at least if one wants to
continue the original exercise and not digress to another.

Today when Sven leaves the gym, he finds Jay distressed because it is raining,
and she doesn't want the rain to fall hard on her body. I just wanted to see
if I could say the words "hard on" in a sex review without direct reference to
the ole muttondagger.  But really, it's raining with thunder and lightning;
and so Sven offers Jay a ride home, even though by this time her lithe and
lovely, lewd and lascivious body is covered in a baggy warm-up suit.

Well, I suspect you can see where this is going. That's right, they share
sausage and eggs between the legs while the summer storm thunders away in the
background. The intensity of flirtation is extremely well done. A young and
aggressive woman can be a real turn-on to a man, or so I'm told. I happen to
know from personal experience that things very much like this do happen in
real life during thunderstorms after exercise.

"Beach Balls" by Artie (artie@netgate.net). This story is fraught with
ambiguity. Here's the first paragraph:

"I love playing with my balls on the beach. I can do it for hours on end. I
love the way they feel in my hands, the way they seemingly move on their own
as the sea breeze hits them. I don't like getting sand on them, but you learn
to be careful. It's a wonderful feeling; after a few minutes I know I'm
smiling, I'm relaxed, it's great. Some people give me strange looks as they
pass by, but I don't care. It feels good. And there are some moments of sheer
ecstasy -- like when I have all five in the air at once."

Only at the end of the paragraph do we realize to our disappointment or
amusement that the narrator purports to be a juggler.

And so, what are we to make of it when the girl says, "I love the way your
butt wiggles when you do that."

>From all appearances, she could be a juggler too. You'll have to ponder that
one.

Turns out she's an English teacher and he's a psych prof - USC and Stanford,
respectively. So at least we know they'll be discreet, as opposed to
discrete.

Pretty soon he's teaching her how to play with his balls. She's a klutz, but
she has a sort of war talent - I mean raw talent - sometimes I get dyslexic
when I get turned on..

I learned things from this story that I hadn't known before. For example, a
juggler's wand can interfere with his jugglery, and I didn't even know there
was such a word. I think it has something to do with movement in one's center
of gravity or maybe displaced attention. It's just hard, I guess.

I also learned that when a male juggler teaches a female juggler to jugg, it's
not all bad if she drops one now and then - has something to do with optics or
geometry. That plus hardening of nipples.

This is a really excellent story!

"Bronze Lust" by A Pulp Fan. Guest review by Purple Passion.

Sixty four years ago, The Adventures of Doc Savage appeared on the newsstands
of America. Through 181 pulp adventures, the Man of Bronze and his band of
adventures fought crime and injustice around the world. Six and a half decades
later, they still make a great read. "Bronze Lust" by A Pulp Fan follows the
adventures (sexual and otherwise) of Patricia Savage (Doc's Cousin) through
1930's New York. It's a story that combines sex, action, heroes, Nazis and a
secret weapon. In other words, all the elements of a fun story. Sort of like
how Indiana Jones might have been if that movie had an adult rating. Having
read many of the original stories when they were reprinted in the 60's and
70's, I can honestly say that the characterizations in this story are right on
the money. Even if you never read any of the originals, you can pick up the
story easily and that is the best kind of satire. I highly recommend it.

"Bronze Lust" by A Pulp Fan. Guest review by Igor.

This is a story featuring Pat Savage, a well known pulp heroine, cousin to the
famous Doc Savage, and a two-fisted scrapper in her own right. Patricia,
however, takes on a whole new dimension in this lustful saga of erotic-action
adventure. There is enough unadulterated raw sex, lesbian activity,
gangbanging, oral sex, anal sex and three-way sex to satisfy everyone and keep
both cocks and nipples stiff throughout all of the eight chapters of this
sexual adventure.

Briefly, we find our heroine witness to a street kidnapping following a
delicious lesbian romp with her close friend, Melissa. True to her pulp
image, she immediately takes pursuit and sets in motion events that lead her
to uncover a Nazi plot to steal a secret weapon. With Doc and the fabulous
five away, Pat's on her own and loving it. She manages to get herself captured
by the gang of nefarious cut-throats who are about to sell our country out,
turning the kidnapped inventor and his weapon over to the Nazis. While
awaiting the arrival of the Nazi submarine, our captors have ample time to
concentrate on the lovely bronze bombshell, tied deliciously bare and naked to
a cot. Events of the night leave our heroine soaked in sexual sweat and
dripping with cum as all of the gang members satisfy themselves, each
according to his own peculiar sexual proclivity, on the body of her person.
Pat is, however, a far cry from the helpless victim of gang rape, but rather
is caught up in a frenzy of sexual lust, desire and orgasmic overkill.

Needless to say, rescue is eventually achieved when Doc and company return,
track our wayward heroine down, and foil the Nazi plot. Later, a fantastic
menage-a-trois culminates the climax to this lustful yarn in a vivid scene.

This is a very well written story with good, true to form, character
development and non-stop action. The author did a good job with characters
that appeared in other stories, but you don't have to be a Doc Savage fan to
enjoy it. I hope that the author will favor us with additional pulp heroines
in lusty, action adventures.

"Bronze Lust" is high caliber reading and very highly recommended.

"Climbing" by Poison Ivan (poisoniv1@hotmail.com). Guest review by Bronwen.

This is a story about climbing. It's MF con, but if I say much more it might
spoil your pleasure. This is a story less about sex than about confidence.
About achievement. It's an observation on the importance of respect in
relationships. It's extremely educational if you aren't a climber. And it's a
good read.

Good in the sense of literature. Yes, it's sexy. Very sexy indeed, if you're
into physical fitness. But it goes beyond many of its fellows on ASSM. It's a
*really* well-written story, and what it says about relationships is
memorable. Any criticisms I have are mere nit-picking - this is easily good
enough for commercial publication. My respects to the author.

"Cruising Cunts" by Jennifer O'Donald (reposted by Avril - avrilc@usa.net).
Guest review by Father Angelico.

{Father Angelico purports to have a cable TV show on the Internal Word
Television Network. The IWTN appears to be nonsensical, and should probably
not be viewed by people who are easily beguiled by lunatics.}

This is a story about perverts - vile, wicked, depraved, degenerate perverts.
As the author herself says, "Only a sick, perverted woman could actually want
to go down on another woman." And that's what this woman does with an evil
and ugly biker bitch. Repeatedly.

This sinner raises the question, " Could anything that felt so wonderful be
wrong?" The answer is yes! As a matter of fact, almost EVERYTHING that feels
so wonderful is wrong!

No well-dressed, sexy young lady like this should "flash her muff at a total
stranger outside a coliseum and boldly take the guy's hand and lead him to the
parking lot." This could be misconstrued as an invitation to engage in
debauchery! "Never been turned down, indeed!" Come to me, and I'll turn thee
down! I'll turn thee over my knee and spank thy little ass!

I make haste to point out that the purpose of semen is to implant progeny in
the womb of mothers - certainly not to be consumed for liquid nourishment,
especially from the chalice of a lesbian accumulatrix.

This Jezebel is so evil that she even lies about penile immensity in order to
arouse a potential partner.

This was a despicable story!

"Flagrante Delicto" by Lord Malinov (malinov@mindless.com). The title is a
term that lawyers use to refer to catching a person in the very act of
committing a crime.

The story has something to do with a quiet, serious fellow walking down the
town's main business strip and stopping another man, pulling out an old
revolver, and shooting him through the heart. The bullet goes clean through
the body and shatters the window of a nearby store. People scream and all that
sort of thing. The man lays the gun down next to the dead man and pulls out
his checkbook and pays the storekeeper for the broken window before turning
himself in to the police.

What does this have to do with sex, you might say. It sounds more like
something that would happen in an American post office.

This is another excellent story.

"Friends and Lovers" by Sandman (sandman@bitsmart.com). Sandman's stories are
archived at ftp://asstr.ml.org/pub/Authors/sandman/index.html.

In their very young teenage years (the story doesn't really say how young),
Cal and Kathy spent many an enjoyable day innocently and pleasantly
discovering each other's bodies. Then Kathy's parents moved away; and the
friends were separated until they happened to meet during their college days.
That day they make it as far as Kathy's Toyota before falling into a
passionate embrace. Then they meet again many years later, when they are both
married and committed to their families. Finally, they meet once again in the
winter of their lives.

"Like two ships that pass in the night, or two thieves stealing time and
pleasure where they can find it. So are the Days of Our Lives." Or something
like that.

This story is long on sentiment. But it moistened my pussy as well as my
eyes. In short, this is an excellent story that blends sex and emotions into
a genuinely erotic story.

This story also contains the accidental quote of the year: "There was
something fascinating about what he was seeing that he couldn't quite put his
finger on."

"In a Quiet Corner of the Galley Waiting for the Coffee to Perk " by Mat
Twassel (Mmtwassel@aol.com). Mat Twassel's stories are archived at
http://members.aol.com/Mmtwassel/index.html.

This is a really difficult story to try to explain. The best I can do is to
say that it reminded me of a D.H. Lawrence story with a piano replacing a
rocking horse - and different motivations for the child's behavior.

A woman is describing to another person over coffee her "first time." This
event occurred when she was twelve years old in early summer in the context of
piano lessons from Mr. Trombley. That's all I am going to tell you, except to
say that this is a very good story.

If you are looking for some mind-blowing pedophilia or for some other form of
hot sex, you will be disappointed with this story. Instead of hot sex, the
story gives us an insight into the mind of a young girl who has been abruptly
exposed to sex for the first time. Likewise, if you found "The Rocking Horse
Winner" to be a real drag, you should probably skip this one. I'm not sure
whether the author will be flattered or annoyed by my comparison to Lawrence;
and I may even be way off base with the comparison. Take a look and see what
you think.

"Inn" by Uther Pendragon (anon584c@nyx.net). From the very beginning, when
the man picks up the woman in the restaurant (or is it vice versa?), I thought
I knew pretty much where this story was going. I was right, but I still
enjoyed getting to the "surprise" ending. However, I think I still had better
refrain from telling you too many details.

In brief, the man and woman meet in the restaurant, dine together, and then
retire for tender but hot sex. This author has written scenes like this so
often that they have become routine, but they are still very, very nice
romantic scenarios.

"Locksmiths" by Uther Pendragon (anon584c@nyx.net). Set in the context of
Valentine's day, this story can most simply be described as a description of
several firsts - her first time, his first time, their first time with each
other - plus a few other first times. As I have come to expect from this
author, the story is both sensitive and sexy - again demonstrating that
normal, moral people with consciences can actually have happy, romantic sex
lives. The preceding statement is ironic, but you'll have to read the story
to find out why.

The author tries an interesting technique. During important sexual scenes, he
views the action and emotions from the perspective of both participants. He
accomplishes this by arranging the story at those points in two columns: one
showing HIS perspective and the other HERS. This would work a lot better if
the story were disseminated in a word-processor format (like Microsoft Word)
that permitted the use of columns or tables. As it is, the text comes jumbled
(with a half-line of each perspective on each text line), so that it is
difficult to read these important portions of the story. I got around this
problem by inserting tab keys at appropriate places. The result was a
slightly jagged left margin for the right column (since I didn't put tabs in
every line), but I was easily able to read both columns correctly. It seems
likely that there is a better solution - perhaps knowing what font and size
type the author used would enable readers to set their screen to the same size
and font.

The irony in this story is that the teenage daughter feels oppressed by her
"unromantic" parents, who seem intent on only one thing: preventing her from
having any fun, especially fun that involves sex. In reality, the parents are
aware of the daughter's emerging sexuality: in fact, they have "been there"
themselves. Like many parents, they simply want their daughter eventually to
have a happy rather than an exploited sex life when she is eventually ready
for it.

Overall, this is one of the best stories by an author who writes a lot of very
good stories. I know I say that often, but I think it's true every time I say
it.

"Mystery Flasher 2" by Phloighd" (jroot@netunlimited.net). This is
technically a follow-up to "Mystery Flasher," the review of which I am
reposting later in this issue. However, this story stands very well on its
own.

The narrator is working in a record store. The Flasher is moving through the
store, getting all the guys - and some of the girls - sexually aroused.
Finally, the narrator makes a Freudian slip - a sexual innuendo referring to
the Flasher when he was supposed to be announcing something else. Instead of
merely embarrassing our hard-working <g> clerk, this turns the Flasher on even
more intensely, and she invites him out to her microbus for a quickie.

This story's intensity of the sexual descriptions - even when sex is not
actually taking place - is impressive. This will appeal to readers of both
genders.

"Nobody's To Blame" by Kim (Ghost@nym.alias.net). Kim's stories are archived
at http://www.io.com/~thebear/kimidx.htm.

Kim's boyfriend's sister has died in an auto accident. Rob wasn't close to
Samantha; and so while the funeral is not traumatic, it's still a bit
uncomfortable. When the job of cleaning up Sam's things falls to Kim, she
comes across Sam's diary. She discovers that Sam had led a much more
interesting life than her brother had suspected.

The short version is that Sam had fallen in love with a guy who was a bisexual
who had just broken up with his former lover who returns and rekindles the
love interest. For the long version, you'll have to read the story.

This story deals realistically with some serious issues and emotions. It does
a good job of being quietly sexy and sentimental without being maudlin.

"One Perfect Rose" by Taria (TariaT@aol.com). Surprise endings are common on
this newsgroup. Here we have a surprise beginning.

This is another continuation of my "Review" story, which originated as a
review of DG's "Call of Desire." My original story ended with me (Celeste)
getting happily fucked in the ass by my loving husband while I was talking on
the phone to Rose, a slightly annoying but certainly conservative neighbor who
was trying to organize a purity crusade against Epcot Center.

As the present "chapter" begins, we discover that Rose is actually one hot
chick - and a lesbian to boot! She and her friend Claire are cleaning the
carpet at their end of the phone, while my husband is hiding his salami up my
ass. It's very hot stuff!

Let me point out that this is not where I intended the story to go. I am as
surprised as anyone about these developments. I have long been suspicious
that my neighbors on one side may be slightly oversexed, and so Sandman merely
confirmed my suspicions. On the other hand, I was under the impression that
Rose lived a couple of miles away and was married to a couch potato with a
beer belly.

Before things get really out of hand, let me point out that my daughters are
both good kids - active in sports, never having fucked a teacher or librarian
- the sort of kids that would fit right in with the Brennan family. While I
would not rule out the possibility that either I or my husband may be related
to the Allen sisters, neither I nor my husband nor either of my kids has ever
been naked with anyone in that clan. Nor are we related to any vampires or
prominent public officials that we know about. On the other hand, I suspect
that some of my neighbors and colleagues at work are really weird. I know for
certain that one of my husband's coworkers goes without panties every Friday -
it has something to do with a radio show she listens to. I realize people can
go anywhere they want with my persona, but I thought the preceding hints might
be helpful.

Taria points out in a brief epilogue that Nick's original follow-up to my
"Review" gave Rose a raw deal. So it did. But give Nick credit: he got the
ball rolling for a couple of good stories.

As I understand it, we now have six stories in this sequence (not counting
DG's "Call of Desire.") The stories are starting to diverge, and so I'll
label them below:

Chapter 1: The Review (Celeste)
Chapter 2a: Fighting Rose's Corner (Nick)
Chapter 2b: The Bedroom window (Sandman)
Chapter 2c: Seat of Power (Jay)
Chapter 2d: Celeste's WD-40 (Ivan)
Chapter 3a: One perfect Rose (Taria)

If you want to continue this series, feel free to add to any of the threads.
It is NOT necessary to remain consistent with a plot that has already been
started. For example, you don't have to have Rose be a lesbian with a lover
named Claire: you can start your own thread, if you wish. Sandman, who
numbered the currently existing chapters slightly differently than I did, has
sent me a list of the following possible chapters:

"Pidge's Story" Jordan Shelbourne (jordan@u36.com). Jordan Shelbourne's
stories are archived at http://www.u36.com/jordan.

This story combines elements of spouse watching stories (actually, boyfriend
watching) with realistic emotions of ambivalence and jealousy. Although
spouse watching stories are often quite enjoyable in their own right, they
usually make the assumption that watching your lover boink someone else has no
effect other than to turn the viewer on. In this story, the viewer does get
turned on, but there are some other emotions as well.

The author hints at the beginning of the story that this story is not quite
complete; and I suspect that this really means that he is not yet quite
satisfied with the way he has handled these emotions. I think that problem
arises from the fact that those emotions would be just plain hard to sort out.
As it stands, I think he has done a very good job with this story.

Pidge has decided to break up with her boyfriend Ben, and she is doing this by
introducing him to a threesome with her friend Mary. The sex is both hot and
poignant.

"Raga" by Taria (tariat@aol.com). Taria's stories are archived at
http://members.aol.com/TariaT.

The prince is having a session with a new girl from his harem. She's young
and inexperienced, but also extraordinarily adept at the arts of love. The
prince is enchanted by her, and the sex is really hot. The exotic atmosphere
enhances the lovemaking.

But this story actually takes place in the imagination of someone else, who is
making love in a much more mundane setting. The contrast enhances the impact
of the sexual activities.

This is a very good story, but my description does not do it justice. This is
a creative - almost poetic - story that is simply hard to describe. Take a
look at it yourself. I doubt that you'll be disappointed.

"Summer Vacation" by Ann Douglas (annd@pop.tiac.net). Michael has been staying
for the summer months with his Aunt Karyn, a rubenesque widow related to him
by marriage, who is both an attractive lady and a pillar of the local
community. One day when he comes home unexpectedly, Michael discovers that
his aunt isn't exactly a prude, since she has the delicatessen owner's salami
buried deep inside her pussy.

As you probably know, Ann Douglas writes stories that have two major
characteristics: (1) there is almost always a good plot that contains some
fairly hot sex, and (2) the characters often engage in some sort of "moral
immorality." That is, they often break a taboo of some sort, but the author
develops a rationale other than simple-minded urge to violate the taboo.

In this case we have an example of an older woman having sexual relations with
a 17-year-old boy. But instead of having the older woman say, "Hey! There's
a teenager! I think I'll seduce him!", we get a much more sensible lead-in,
which lets us respect both the boy and the woman on the morning after.

Oddly enough, even though I have given you the details in the preceding
paragraph, I still have not told you much about the story. You can still read
it and enjoy the interesting twists and turns of the plot.

"Roadside Encounter" by Tom Bombadil (stbush@iglou.com). A man and his wife
are having one of those to-tell-the-truth sessions, and he is relating to her
an interesting sexual escapade from his college days.

I don't want to give you all the details. He is walking home from a late-
night study session, when a senior girl invites him into her van. He is
blindfolded and is promised a good time if he follows instructions. You can
well imagine what those instructions might be.

While the man is relating this story, his wife is giving him one hot ride.
Although the wife never speaks and the husband only vaguely describes what she
is doing to him (because he's trying to concentrate on the to-tell-the-truth
story, of course), I managed to get a rather inspiring picture of what was
happening to him. This was a very good storytelling technique.

Another excellent story!

"The Truth of Well-Known Sayings" by Bronwen (bronwen@anon.nymserver.com). At
first glance this story seems somber: the husband has just found out that his
brother is dying in middle age. The wife comforts the husband and verifies
the truth of the adage, "A good fuck is the best response to bad news." I
don't know who first said that - I doubt that it's in the Bible or in Ben
Franklin; but I've often found it to be true, especially if the good fuck is
with someone you really love.

I doubt that this story will lead you to a mind-blowing orgasm. As the well-
know saying goes, "Sorry about that."

"Two Women, Two Fantasies" by DG (dionysian1@hotmail.com). The author's
stories are archived at http://www.io.com/~thebear/dgidx.htm.

Two couples are partying together and decided that it would be great to have
the wives write down their deepest, darkest fantasies and share them with
their husbands, who will help bring the fantasies to fruition. A few days
later one couple has a bdsm fantasy, the other is getting the massage of her
life.

I can't tell you much more, except to say that the author adds a postscript
indicating that he laughed his ass off when he thought of the idea. The story
also reminded me of the time my sister-in-law was in charge of assigning names
for the Christmas present exchange, and she assigned everyone her own name.

Actually, the title is wrong: there are MORE than two fantasies in this story.

I started this story with some apprehension, but I wound up laughing my own
ass off.

"Wendy" by Friar Dave (friar_dave@mhbbs.com). Guest Review by Sandman
(sandman@bitsmart.com).

Again I must warn you that this story falls outside of my normal personal
tastes and preferences. The story contains a very explicit incest scene
between a 14-year-old brother and his 12-year-old sister, as well as graphic
pedophilia descriptions between the 12-year-old girl and an adult male.

Dan (the narrator) is more than thrilled to find the beautiful Marge moving in
next door to him and being a normal, red-blooded male tries in vain to win her
affections. As is the case with all of Friar Dave's stories the characters
are painstakingly developed. Before any one hops into the sack the reader
KNOWS these people and when the sex happens it makes sense.

Dan is asked by Marge to help assemble a grill for a party she is having later
that evening and Dan, still eager to win her affections willingly accepts the
task. When Marge has to step out and Dan explores the house to find a cool
drink he stumbles on Wendy, Marge's twelve-year-old daughter giving Josh,
Marge's fourteen year old son a rather professional blow job. Naturally Dan
is turned on by this, but he discreetly plays dumb and returns to his job.

Wendy comes out and talks with him a bit later on and he learns that Marge is
gay, forever putting her out of his reach. And later that evening Wendy slips
away from the dull party to visit Dan where she learns his ex-girlfriend is a
porno star and goads Dan into letting her watch one of the tapes. From there
the story tenderly and explicitly describes several varied sexual positions.

In chapter 10 the story abandons the pedophilia and concentrates on a really
interesting sex scene between Dan and Marge (who occasionally still indulges
in men). Again the sex makes sense and is all the more interesting because
the characters are so vivid and real. Unlike the scenes between Dan and Wendy
this part did hold a very real appeal to me. Chapter ten came as a salvation
and redemption of sorts, there was an actual physical sense of relief for me
as the story made this about-face.

Reading this story for review was sort of an exercise in extremes, I kept
recoiling from the pedophilia but Dave's writing kept trying engage me, to
make me a part of the story - he really is that good a writer. I guess I am
going to recommend this story with a warning. If pedophilia is your thing, by
all means read the story from beginning to end. If it isn't, read the first
chapter then skip down to chapter 10. Here's the warning - if you ignore this
advice you *WILL* look back on the story and wonder why you enjoyed reading
it, wonder why when you tried to detach yourself you kept being drawn back
into the story.

A horror story doesn't necessarily have to have blood and monsters in it.
Sometimes the terror can be finding out a good author can pull you into a
story that assaults what you consider unshakable foundations of your own
beliefs of what is right and what is wrong.
