Random notes:

As ever I have been working hard to bring you good web sites to
enjoy. My criteria have changed slightly. The foremost is the site
must contain erotic fiction--whether the owner is an author,
collector, or archiver--or dispense sexual information in an
entertaining way. That is why I've included a few publisher's
sites even though they are commercial, because my primary
mission is to put people in touch with literature they might enjoy
reading.

What I will NOT support are commercial sites where you must pay
a fee to access the stories, or where a few pathetic stories are
included as bait in a site otherwise devoted to sex toys, jpegs you
must pay to download, "live one-on-one" cybersex videos, or
Mistress So-and-so the Dominatrix. (About those dominatrixes. I
realize someone's looks may not have much of bearing on how
well they flog someone, but Jeez, couldn't these women hire a
professional photographer and stylist? Real estate agents do, and
what are these dominas doing on the web if not selling sex? I am
getting so tired of seeing wierd camera angles, saggy jowls, and
oddly placed lamps and plants in their personality shots.)

This leads me to another disturbing trend. Spam has crept onto
the websites. Access a site in Geocities and you may get up to a
half-dozen annoying messages you must click on to get rid of.
Even worse are those sites with visual sex spam. It's bad enough to
be bombarded with tripe like HOT TEEN SUPERMODELS WANT TO
SUCK YOUR COCK in the newsgroups; now we are forced to look at
it as well. One memorable banner featured a simpering blonde
(who had the services of a professional photo stylist, unlike the
dominatrixes) whispering sweet nothings to an erect dick
without a body attached, the whole flanked by two fuzzy pictures
of lava lamps. What the hell do lava lamps have to do with a
cocksucking teen model? Again, I find such spam really, really
annoying. Porn stories are inert constructions; they must be read
to have their crassness unlocked. Just sitting there, they're
inoffensive. But visual spam is always in your face, whether you
enjoy seeing the acts or not. It's an unasked-for intrusion. While
I realize it sponsors some author and archiver sites, I would
rather the ads be more discrete.

In a lighter vein, anyone who I've ever given an A+ story rating
to is eligible to display my special award on their website, if they
have one. Created just in time for Valentine's Day, this lovely
facsimile of a box of luscious chocolates may be seen on my
website (http://members.aol.com/ladycyrrh) as a black and
white gif to prevent unauthorized swiping. The official award is
in 256 color, and it is quite gorgeous. You have to email me for it;
it doesn't come automatically.

Lastly, I want to tell everyone about a neat new CD I came across,
"Shaken and Stirred--the Tim Arnold James Bond Project." It
features cover tunes of 007 movie theme songs by Chrissie Hynde,
Iggy Pop, Aimee Mann, and others, with the lush orchestrations
and big, brassy horns we all know and love. I predict the kitschy
cover of "Diamonds are Forever" sung by David McCalmont to hit
the top ten lipsyncing charts in drag revues across the country.

This story was "Part the First" of a new horror/historical series
about the adventures of a succubus, a female demon who seduces
men in their dreams in order to drink their sperm. But before
becoming a succubus the narrator was a mortal woman in 13th
century Rome, and the story details her upbringing. As this was a
pious time, most of it focuses on sin and secret lust and hiding
one's masturbating hands from the village priests, which is hard
to do because even at the tender age of eleven as she is
explosively orgasmic. I expect more sinful sex acts will be detailed
in later chapters.

This story wasn't bad, but as a melding of porn and historical
fiction it could have been handled more intelligently. A young
girl living in the 13th century probably wouldn't know the words
for orgasm, sperm, and masturbate; and because the age of first
menses was higher back then (because of poor nutrition, amidst
other things) she wouldn't have been multiorgasmic at age
eleven, either. However, the story was interesting enough to
stand out from the run-of-the-mill, and if you like to read about
sperm-sucking demonesses, this series is for you.

Last fall Star Trek: Voyager introduced a new character to the
series, a sexy ex-Borg named Seven of Nine (or 7/9 for short). It
took a while for stories about her to get going, but now they're
here. Naturally, they've focused on the palpable sexual tension
between 7/9 and Captain Janeway, which even my straight
friends have remarked on.

In this story 7/9 is suddenly compelled to go to the Captain's
quarters. It's not explained why, but I think the author meant to
show she was in the grip of new feelings of lust and isn't sure
what to make of them. The two women have sex slash-style, which
means they blow on each other's genitals a lot: "Incredibly
enough, because of her experience with the Borg, she had access
to several thousand appropriate female to female copulating
positions. That information had always been low priority. Now..
now her mind worked at great speeds as she 'accessed' those
images in her mind and replayed them over and over."

The writing was technically solid but I was never sure of which
woman's head I was in. For a slash story, which is almost
exclusively visual by virtue of its boob-tube origins, this a big
no-no as it made things very confusing. On the plus side, the sex
was nice and the emotional reactions of the characters in line
with those of the characters in the show. I would have wanted
some real Star Trek adventures thrown in, too, but you can't have
everything.

A flamboyant, untasteful English clotheshorse with a yen for
men is attracted to a good-looking tasteful guy out of the pages of
GQ magazine one night in a pub. The problem is, he already has a
sophisticated foreign girlfriend. The narrator senses things are
not well with the couple and she's right: when the Italian chick
dumps the guy one night, she swoops in and nabs him. For a few
weeks she chortles over prize, then discovers why the old
girlfriend dumped him. He's a minimalist, from his wardrobe to
his personal possessions, and never does more than the minimal
amount in bed. either.

I am an admirer of Bronwen's work, especially the sublime
beauty of "The Offering" and Ripe" and the smartass, gleeful satire of "Sam's
Bad Day" (which received a 1997 Cyrrheal Award) but as a reader
I felt this story was not among her best. She seems to be
metastatizing into a cross between Mike Hunt and fellow Brit
Suzie Sleaze. This piece was more anecdote than story, and though
a cute idea that expresses a tart reality, it took a while for the plot
to get going, and things never resolved themselves. I expected
the narrator to eventually give the guy what he deserved, and
when no concluding incident took place, I was left feeling
cheated after all the buildup that was given.

Another problem I had with the story is with the narrator. While
Bronwen may be nice as person, I wouldn't want to be friends
with this character she's created. She seems like a conniving
Cosmo girl who's trying to one-up the reader sexually, like the
swingers in the Lord Malinov story "Bulls" were doing a few
weeks back, and as my lovers do not number into 3 figures (nor
do I go automatically ga-ga for clothes, coquettery, and cocks) I'm
totally outclassed as far as competing with her goes. I couldn't
identify with her, either, to share in her sexual adventures,
which is the point of first person stories like this.

So what is the point of reading the story? The broad humor and
charm, for one thing, but the insights I expected weren't there.

A widowed rancher in his late 30s experiences an attraction to
the sexy 16-year-old friend of his daughter. She feels the same
about him and decides he's the one to take her virginity. When
the girls are having a sleepover one night she sneaks down to
seduce him in his rustic study (lamplight and animal skins on the
furniture, making good use of the West Texas location) and the
two have oral sex first, then sex of a more conventional nature.

I found this a well-done, romantic fantasy even though it was not
as polished and stylized as the Bronwen piece. There was more
heartfelt emotion to it, which was restful; no one was trying to
wow me. I did find the switches of POV distracting, however, and
suggest they be separated in the text by three spaces between
paragraphs or a row of * * *s. The sex was hot and pretty real,
though a 16-year-old willingly gulping cum was a bit of a stretch,
but overall, I liked it and recommend it. (I always say I don't like
stories about teenagers, but I always wind enjoying them
anyway.)

Oh Jeez, I can hear you say. She's passing up wholesome porn and
romantic erotica in favor of giving high grades to perverse BDSM
**AGAIN**. Well, yes and no.

These three are BDSM true, and BDSM of a extreme nature
wherein hapless women are turned into sex objects. Not sex
objects like those found in the pages of Playboy, but mindless,
sexually exploited machines. They are also a rip-roaring good
read, very imaginative and well-crafted. Though the impetus
behind their writing may have been to give voice to personal,
rather disturbing fantasies, the *result* may be read as horror,
psychological drama, and fantastic fiction in the SF/fantasy
mode...the BDSM acting as just another element in the story
rather than the premise for it. They are also quite funny in a
sadistic way.

In "The Boxvan" a man and his wife play games of an
increasingly kinky nature culminating in him chaining her,
naked, inside a parked moving van with signs saying "I'm a slut,
fuck me hard, use me, free cunt" posted outside. It's his intent to
merely tease her with the danger, but he gets mugged, has a
concussion, and when he gets out of the hospital, wife and
moving van are gone, wife to a new life of sex slavery. A
cautionary tale that both warns and arouses. Even Celeste would
like it.

"The Factory" was inspired by newspaper adverts that say "Hi I'm
Lisa. I'm 19 and really horny. I can send you a pair of my used
panties and a photoset for only $25." In this story, the panties are
sewn by a sex slave kept captive in a box-like mechanism; as she
completes each pair, she's fucked by a dildo until she comes on
them, then they're sealed and placed inside an envelope for
delivery. In her isolation she goes mad from the continual
orgasms and thusly tells us this tale. A nastily grinning story,
structured quite well.

The last of the tales, the 3-part "Out of This World" series, takes
ponygirls a bit further, giving them a high-tech spin on a planet
that utilizes them on vehicles instead of engines--a cross between
SF, a pony show, and Car and Driver magazine. The engine girls
pedal rickshaw-like vehicles which ambitious studs drag race
against each other: "I decided that we
should increase the pace a little so I switched the butt plug to
maximum voltage and minimum duration. This brought a small
squeal from Leah, Bree just grunted as the voltage hit her. It was time
for some nipple action so I flicked on the nipple volts to about half
setting. We seemed to surge forward when the first pulse hit their
tits and then we settled down to a new enhanced speed. I glanced
back at their pumping legs, which pistoned smoothly. I was rather
proud of these engines." This was one of the most detailed fetish fantasies
I've read, the world imagined so thoroughly you wonder if a
travel brochure hasn't been produced for it somewhere.

If I had to classify these stories, it would be as transformation
porn, like fellow Brit Richard Marnet's Supergirl story. Richard
Calder, another Brit (this must be a style of literature inspired by
too little sun) rode this genre to international fame in his
nominally SF books "Dead Girls" and "Dead Boys" which feature a
nanovirus that transforms normal girls into plasticized vampiric
femme fatales. I'd give them an A-. Not because they were
patently offensive, which is why Lady Cyrrh read them, but
because they were patently phony...the author's pseudo-
intellectualism and literary allusions did not for one minute
disguise the fact they were porn masquerading as legitimate
literature with something important to say.

Then why, you ask, has Calder won publishing contracts while
Marnet and Spoonbender are languishing in the newsgroups?
Well, life is not fair.

(If you're into transformation porn, check out the Mannequin
Lover's Homepage, posted just now to my site.)
