CHAPTER FOUR - FUN WITH PHONE SEX

I sipped my beer, then glanced over my shoulder at the massive scoreboard.
The count was full to Larry Walker, the Rockies were down by two with two outs
in the ninth.

"Come on Larry!"

The crowd groaned as Larry grounded the ball weakly back to Rod Beck. As Beck
threw to first, I turned to Devon.

"We should do this more often."

"Yeah, it’s no problem for me to fly in from Kansas City to watch a baseball
game."

Devon was my best buddy from high school. It had been his idea to meet up in
Denver to watch our favorite team in person. I took another sip of beer and
smiled.

"Well it’s no big deal for me, either. How about next weekend?"

"Alrighty. It’s a deal then. Should we get tickets now?"

"How about for tomorrow, instead?"

"That sounds better. We’re leaving Monday morning?"

"Yeah."

"Game’s at 1:30?"

"Yeah. We’ll have to buy off the street again. I’m guessing it’ll be sold
out. Besides, even with the crappiest seats, we can move down here," I said,
motioning to the mezzanine beyond the left field bleachers.

"True. Want to go hit the bars?"

"Never can have too much beer."

******

I sighed. The Rockies had lost again and I hadn’t seen Cal. It’s a bit much
to expect to see someone at a ballgame, I guess. I flipped off the TV and got
up from the couch. Walking into the bedroom, I grabbed the cordless phone and
dialed Dana’s number.

"Hello?"

"Hey. I was just wondering how long you were going to be up. I need to pick
up the last of my stuff."

"I’m gonna be up for a while. Do you need any help? Company?"

"Yeah, I guess I could use some company. Want to come watch a movie or
something?"

"Sure. When’s Cal gonna be back?"

"Not for another three weeks. He’s in Denver this weekend, but him and his
friend Devon are going to take off for Oklahoma on Monday."

"How’s he going to afford this little safari?"

"He sold his car and got a grant or something."

"Didn’t he graduate? Shouldn’t he be getting a job or something?"

"No kidding. I just hope he doesn’t make this tornado chasing thing some kind
of career."

"Ughh. So how’s it feel to live with a boy instead of me?"

"I hardly know."

"True…"

"Anyway, I’ll be over in a minute."

"Okay."

******

"I’m glad you had the foresight to take a cab to the ballgame," I said,
slightly slurring my words.

"I’ve got everything under control," said Devon, raising his glass.

"To tornadoes."

"Lots of tornadoes. A whole shitload of tornadoes."

"Oh yeah."

******

"So he sold his car?"

"Yeah. He called me yesterday. Said he sold his car and bought something
cheap for the trip."

"What’d he get?"

"A ’78 Bronco."

"Ugh." Dana wrinkled her nose.

"He’s going to sell it before he comes back here. He’s going to fly back."

"Why did he sell his old car? I thought he loved it."

"Yeah, well, I guess he was having problems with it, and he wanted to get a
decent price for it before it got all hail damaged or something. I think he
was worried about not being able to outrun a tornado with it," I said with a
smile. "Besides, it really wasn’t big enough for this trip."

"True. Shit! The movie’s started. Rewind it a bit."

******

"Jeez, its hot."

"Must be like 95."

"Great day for baseball."

"Great day, indeed," the ticket taker said as he ripped the stub off Devon’s
ticket. "Just as long as it’s not raining."

"Beer stand," Devon said, pointing to the right.

"Mmmm… beer…"

"To Sunday afternoon ballgames," said Devon, raising his cup.

"Oh yeah."

******

"So that’s the last of it?" Dana asked, walking out on the balcony.

"Yeah. Got the last of my clothes last night. Got the books and papers
today. That ought to do it," I said, leaning on the railing.

"Beautiful day. Cal and his friend still in Denver?"

"I think they were going to watch an afternoon game today, then leave tomorrow
morning. Then again, knowing Cal and Dev, they’ve probably already blown all
their money on baseball games and beer. Want to sit down?" I asked, walking
back inside, "we’ve got some lawn chairs here."

"Sure."

"You want a drink? I could make something. A daiquiri, perhaps? I’ve got
fresh strawberries."

"That sounds great. You need any help?"

"No, that’s okay. This is your pay for helping me move."

"I can’t argue with that," said Dana, laughing.

"Well, you could…"

******

I awoke with a start. A pillow covered my face.

"Dude, wake up. Didn’t you hear the alarm?"

"No," I said groggily, "I must’ve slept through that one."

"Anyway, it’s nine. We’ve got to get moving."

"My bad. I’ll be ready in five minutes," I said, as I flopped out of bed.

"No, man, you’ve got to take a shower. You smell like beer. You’ll get us
thrown in jail if we get pulled over."

"That bad?" I asked, sniffing my shirt. "Oh. Guess so."

"I’ll go get some donuts or something – they have a buffet line downstairs."

******

"Mmmm… Cal, quit hogging the comforter," I said, tugging at the sheets.

"Cal?"

"Wha? Dana?"

"Morning, sunshine."

"But… we didn’t…"

"No. Don’t worry. You asked me to spend the night. Remember?"

"No… I had way too much to drink…" I said, rubbing my forehead. "I’ve got a
hangover."

"I’m sorry. Would you like some breakfast?"

"Okay."

"I’ll make some french toast."

"Mmmm…" I said, falling back asleep.

******

"The guy wasn’t going to let me out of the lobby with these donuts, so I told
him they were for my kids," Devon said, laughing. "So, he starts quizzing me
about them. I guess you’re Tommy, and my imaginary daughter is Kelly."

"Tommy? Couldn’t you think of anything better."

"It was heat of the moment, man."

"I don’t like Tommy," I said frowning.

"Damn, you’re a little bitch when you’re hungover."

"Shut up. You ready to go?"

"Yeah. You?"

"Let’s do it."

******

I walked into the kitchen. Dana was hurrying around, preparing french toast.
The clock on the wall read 9:13. I should be back in bed.

"You know, you’re a lot like Cal."

"How’s that?"

"I don’t know. Making breakfast or something. I can’t think," I said as I
reached into the refrigerator for the milk.

"I’m guessing you’re a lot like Cal, too?" she asked as I took a swig from the
jug.

"Did I just do that?"

"Yep."

"God, I’m turning into a guy."

******

The engine rumbled to life.

"First crank."

"That’s a good sign," said Devon, crossing his fingers.

"No kidding."

I turned on the radio and we headed out of the parking lot toward I-70. The
wind blew threw our hair as we accelerated up the on ramp.

"I’m not sure we should have taken off the top," shouted Devon.

"We’ll get used to it!"

"Turn up the stereo!"

I crumple the note and save it to put inside
My shoe box
Shoe box of lies
Shoe box
Shoe box of lies
It’s under my bed, it’s never been read
It’s in with my school stuff and my mom never cleans there
>From my first little fib, when I still wore a bib…

******

"This kitchen is way too small for two people," I said as I squirmed past
Dana, trying to avoid bumping her into the stove.

"It is kind of tight. You can solve that by making Cal cook everything,
though," Dana said with a smile.

"Shit." I bent over to grab the syrup bottle before Dana stepped on it.
Instead, I crashed into her knee. "Ow!" I fell over backwards, into a
sitting position.

"Are you okay?" Dana crouched in front of me.

"Yeah. It more surprised me, I guess."

Dana ran her fingers through my hair.

"I’m gonna check for blood here."

"Are you okay? I hit you right in the knee."

"I’m fine. You hit the cabinet door. You’re bleeding, too."

"The door?"

"Yeah, you closed it with your head," Dana said with a faint smile.

"Damn. I thought that was pretty sharp for a kneecap.

Dana reached up to the counter and grabbed the paper towel roll. She tore off
a sheet and pressed it to my forehead.

"Ooh."

"See?" she held the paper towel for me to see. Sure enough, a pretty good
sized red splotch stained the center of the towel. A tear rolled down my
cheek.

"It’s not that bad. I’m sure you’ll survive," Dana said as she slide her
fingers through my hair.

I began to sob uncontrollably. Dana pulled me close to her, still running her
fingers through my hair.

"It’s okay…" Dana leaned back and smiled.

"I’ve bled on your shirt," I sniffled.

"It’s okay. It’s Cal’s," she whispered in my ear.

I giggled and looked up. Dana looked into my eyes and hugged me again.

"All better now?"

Her body was so comforting against mine. It felt so different than Cal’s.

"Yeah," I mumbled. "I’m sorry."

"It’s okay. Look, you’ve stopped bleeding."

I leaned my head back and kissed her on the lips. Pulling away quickly, she
looked into my moist eyes. Then, just as quickly, she moved her head forward
again and kissed me. I began to lick her lips, and she slowly opened her
mouth. Our tongues met tentatively, and retreated quickly.

"I can’t do this. I’m sorry."

"You’re right. Let’s get you cleaned up."

We stood up quietly, facing each other, only inches apart. I wrapped my hands
around Dana’s back and squeezed her gently.

"Perhaps if it was another time," I said quietly.

"Mmmm…"

I walked to the bathroom where I sat on the toilet and began to softly cry.

******

I broke out the weather band radio at the Kansas border. Plugging the adapter
into the socket, I turned to Devon.

"Find us what we need to know."

Devon was already hooking up the laptop to the cell phone to find a weather
forecast. I glanced out my window to the north, where a large thunderhead was
forming.

"Forecast for western Kansas: sunny and hot in the morning and early
afternoon areas. Thunderstorms, possibly severe, move in after 2:00 PM.
Let’s see. It’s 1:30 now. Not much doing."

"Just one thunderhead to the north. Doesn’t look too promising. Anything
else?"

"No. I just lost the connection. Let me try it again."

I slowed slightly as I spotted a highway patrol car traveling the opposite
direction. I took another sip of my Dr. Pepper.

"Reconnect?"

"Not yet."

"This may be a long day," I said, taking another sip of my drink.

******

"Serena? Are you okay?"

"Yeah," I said. "I’ll be out in a minute." I wiped my face with some toilet
paper and stood up. As I walked out of the bathroom, I caught a glance of my
reflection in the mirror. I had to chuckle at my appearance. The clothes I
was wearing yesterday were all wrinkled beyond recognition, I had a gash right
at my hairline, makeup running down my cheeks and massive bags under my eyes.

"I got most of the blood out of the shirt," Dana said, rounding the corner.
She was wearing only a purple satin bra and her shorts.

"Damn, Dana, you’re one hot chick," I said, cracking a small smile.

"No, check you out." She turned me toward the mirror. "You are all that."
She peered around my arm and grinned. I giggled.

"Yeah, I am, aren’t I?"

"Oh yeah."

******

"Oh yeah! Did you see that one?"

"Yeah. I’m gonna set up the tripod," I said, walking to the back of the
Bronco. We were on a small dirt road somewhere in northwestern Kansas,
watching a spectacular lightning display from the storm we had seen earlier in
the afternoon. The sun was about to set, and the lighting was perfect for
some time-lapse photos.

"Big ol’ thunderstorm in Kansas – our first storm," said Devon, narrating into
the camcorder.

Suddenly, I thought of something.

"Hey, Dev! How much is long distance with this thing?" I asked, waving the
cell phone.

"Um, something like, hella expensive."

"That’s helpful."

"I don’t know. You don’t use those things for long distance phone calls."

"What about our internet hookup?"

"It’s an 800 number."

"Oh. What the hell, I’m gonna call her."

"What?" Devon yelled over a crack of thunder.

******

"Hello?"

"Oh! That one’s on film!"

"Hello?"

"Oh shit! Hi honey. How are you?"

"Good. Where are you?"

"Somewhere in Kansas."

"What are you doing?"

"Taking pictures of lighting. This is great. Check out the clouds, now, Dev
– they’re purple!"

"So how are you guys doing? Found any twisters yet? Coming home soon?"

"We’re doing good. We only saw one storm today, but we’ve seen some good
lightning here."

"Are you coming home soon?"

"Only ten more days, dear."

"I miss you."

"I miss you, too. I’ve got to go now. I’ll call you tomorrow from a real
phone and we can talk longer."

"Okay."

"I love you."

"Love you too."

"Bye."

"Bye."

******

I walked back out onto the balcony.

"That was Cal. They’re somewhere in Kansas, taking pictures of lighting."

"Sounds exciting."

"Certainly more exciting than my life."

"Thanks…"

"I didn’t mean that…"

"This is a great view. You’ve got the city, the mountains, the sunset,
everything."

"Yeah. All I need now is Cal," I thought to myself.

"Would you like to spend the night again?" I asked.

"Sure. I’ll, uh, sleep on the couch tonight."

"Don’t worry. You can sleep in our bed. Just keep your clothes on," I added
with a smile.

******

"I need to go make a call," I said, getting up from the stool.

I walked outside, the formerly hot air now cool, with a slight breeze coming
from the direction we came. I walked across the diner parking lot to a
darkened phone booth next to a telephone pole. I stepped into the small booth
and dialed my calling card number.

******

The phone rang. That better be Cal, I thought to myself. Motioning to Dana
to be quiet, I pressed the ‘speaker’ button.

"Hello?"

"Hey kiddo. Did I wake you?"

"No. I was just talking to Dana. She’s spending the night."

"Cool. What did you guys do today?"

"Went to the mall, hung out, watched a movie. That’s about all."

"Am I on speaker?"

"No, why?"

"It must be this phone."

"Yeah. So are you guys stopping for the night?"

"Yeah. We just ate greasy hamburgers and fries, and we’ve got a hotel room,
so we’ll probably go to be early and get up early."

"Were are you headed tomorrow?"

"Weather Service says there should be some good storms in south-central Kansas
and northern Oklahoma, so we’ll probably head that way."

"Oh."

"You alone?"

"Yeah, why?" I asked, grinning at Dana

"I don’t know… I was just thinking."

"About what?"

"About being with you."

"Being?"

"Yeah. You know what I mean."

"Yeah. I miss you too. Did you find the picture?"

"What picture?"

"The one I put in your backpack. You mean you haven’t found it yet?"

"No. Where did you put it?"

"In the little pocket."

"Oh. I hardly ever use that one. Should I go get it or something?"

"Maybe…"

"I’ll be right back."

The phone thudded as it was dropped. I could faintly hear the sound of a car
door opening and closing.

"I’m back. Let me look."

"It’s in the little pocket."

"Hello."

"You like it?"

"Yeah. When did you get a Polaroid?"

"Last week. See the envelope?"

"Yeah."

"Inside are a few more. You can open them all at once, or once a day."

"This one will probably last a while."

"Try not to get it too messy."

"I’d love to be there right now."

"What would you do?"

"I’d have you stand in the middle of the room, and slowly take all of your
clothes off. I wouldn’t let you do anything to help, either. Really slowly,
I’d do it. Start with your shoes and socks, then your shorts, then your
shirt. I’d kiss your stomach and stick my tongue in your belly button."

A soft hand began to slide my t-shirt up and I felt soft lips on my stomach.
I gasped slightly as Dana’s tongue tickled my belly button.

"Oh. Stop." I gasped.

"What?"

"Nothing. What next?"

"Then I’d unhook your bra, but leave it there. I’d remove it with my teeth.
Then, I’d slowly slide your panties down your long legs, kissing your thighs
and calves as I went down."

"That sounds nice," I said as Dana looked into my eyes questioningly. I
shoved her head back down onto my stomach.

"I’d run my hands along your legs back up to your hips, then caress your ass
as I kissed your stomach some more."

"Mmm hmm…"

"Then I’d move up a little higher and kiss all around your tits, but not on
the nipple, just to tease you."

Dana raised my shirt farther, then followed Cal’s instructions perfectly,
kissing and sucking on my chest. I gasped again.

"Finally, I’d suck your left nipple into my mouth. I’d suck and nibble on it
while I caressed your body with my hands. Then, I’d take your other nipple in
my mouth and suck it. Serena?"

"Yes," I breathed. "Please go on."

"Then I’d move up your neck, kissing, licking and sucking, all the way across
the front and up to your ears and finally to your mouth. Would you kiss me
back?"

"Oh yes. My tongue would fight with yours. I’d lick your lips and bite them
gently."

"All this time, I’d still be caressing your body, but one of my hands would be
moving closer to your pussy."

"Oh." I gasped as Dana continued along with Cal’s narration.

"I’d rub your mound, and all around your pussy. Then I’d move away and rub
your breasts and ass."

"Please."

"Please what dear?"

"Touch me."

"Where?"

"Rub my pussy," I breathed. "Rub it now!" much louder.

"I’d slowly move my hand down to your pussy…"

"I’d grab your hand and force it between my legs."

"I’d kiss you again as I begin to rub your moist lips."

"Oh my god…" I moaned as Dana slowly massaged my pussy with her right hand.
Her left hand continued to run along my body as she kissed me deeply.

"Your knees would begin to shake, so I would help you lie down on the floor.
I’d move along side of you and rub your tits with one hand while I still play
with your pussy. Then I’d move over you and suck on your tit."

"Oh yeah."

"I’d begin to lick and kiss my way down toward your stomach, kissing and
licking every square inch of your skin. Finally, I’d reach your pubic hair,
where I rub my nose over your mound and smell your fragrance. Still rubbing
your pussy with my hand, I kiss and lick your thighs."

"Eat me!" I shout as Dana moves away from my tingling pussy.

"Again, I rub my nose over your mound, then I flick my tongue across your
lips. Finally, after teasing you a little more, I begin to lick and suck your
clit."

"Oh shit…"

"I keep doing this, while my hands are now exploring your stomach and tits."

"Yeah…" I moaned, nearing orgasm.

"I lick up and down your lips one more time then…"

I began to shake uncontrollably with a huge orgasm as Dana sucked my clit in
between her soft but firm lips.

"Oh god. Oh. Shit."

"Jesus."

"That was great, dear. Thank you."

"Thanks for the inspiration."

"I’m going to go clean up now, dear," I said in a daze.

"I think I will, too."

"I love you so much."

"I love you too. I’ll talk to you tomorrow."

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye."

Dana looked up at me from between my legs. She giggled slightly. She got up
and rolled off me.

"I think I’ll go sleep on the couch now."

"Okay," I said, sitting up and kissing her. "Thank you."

******

"You okay, man?"

"Yeah, why?" I asked quietly.

"You just look kind of out of it," Devon responded.

"Oh."

"Anyway, the news just said there’s supposed to be a good chance of a
donnybrook of a storm tomorrow."

"What news?"

"Oklahoma City."

"Oklahoma it is, then."
