Hi, I just have a couple of things I want to say today.

Number one is that if any editors out there want to solicit
stories for anthologies or websites, or any paid venue
whatsoever, I would be happy to publicize that information in
this column and on my website. The reason I'm saying this is
that I found Maryanne Mohanraj was asking for submissions
for an erotica anthology way after the fact, and had I known
sooner, more writers could have been made aware of this fact.
So, editors, take note!

Number two is I'm still looking for unusual erotica
newsgroups to compile on my site
(http://members.aol.com/ladycyrrh) with a brief review of
the kind of fiction they contain and their spam-to-story ratio.
If anyone can help me out, send me a line.

Gracias!

Cassandra - Vampiress [B-]

Vampires are a hot ticket these days. From Anne Rice to role-
playing games, their pointy little fangs are cropping up
everywhere. Surprisingly, they are not as popular as they
could be in the ASS realm, given the fundamental eroticism of
their nature. (The late, great Bela Lugosi was beseiged with
female fan mail after making "Dracula"--while in his 40s yet.)
This is only the second vampire story I've seen.

A teenage girl named Cassandra is discovered by a modeling
agent who tells her she's a natural for the biz. However,
Cassandra's guardian Aunt Rhea isn't keen on the idea, so the
agent drugs and bribes her to hand over Cassy's guardianship
to him. Along the way Cassy fucks Nicole, her best friend, and
meets a vampire named Damien Nightshade at a party, who
makes such a big impression on her she has to run to the
bathroom and finger herself to multiple orgasm. Later that
night Damien takes over the mind of Tricia, another model,
and turns her into his sex slave, and decides Cassandra will be
his immortal bride. He generously gives Tricia to her to fuck
as she sees fit until the (unholy) union.

You'd think with a combination of vampires, lesbianism, and
teen models the story would be pretty hot, but it wasn't. I
found my attention wandering after the first 200 words, not a
good sign. Part of it was due to the point of view. The writer
wandered in and out everyone's heads at will: "As Cassandra
strolled away, the agent couldn't help but gaze at the girl's
lovely rounded ass" "Rhea didn't relish the idea of taking
responsibility of a fifteen year old girl" "When Rhea told her
niece about the conversation, Cassandra became angry and
upset with her aunt." For the maximum effect, stick to one
person, please. The passive sentences also gave the effect of a
story lectured rather than a story seen, heard, smelled and
tasted by the reader, and it got very tedious. Also, for a story
about teen models, there was very little color or excitement.
Where are all the photo shoots? The exotic locations? The
coke-sniffing parties? Yachts? If you want models and the
adventures of the beautiful people, Andrew Roller does them a
lot better.

There was also a lot of unbelievability in this story, such as
aphrodisiacs being in such common usage one would think
they're available off-the-counter in Walgreen's, and one
female character who reassures Cassy (who thinks she's a
lesbian after a roll in the hay with her) "Come on Cassy, I'm
not either. But I do know how to take pleasure in a girl's body.
You're very beautiful and I am too." Well, jeeze, if this isn't
lesbian behavior what is?

All this wouldn't be so bad if the author was playing it as
camp; that is, "I know this is a ridiculous story whose only
purpose is to get you horny, and you know it, so let's have
fun." But the tone of it was straight, as if the author was
hypothesizing how these imaginary events could logically
happen; and unfortunately, it all came out as tepid.

This creative dildo story is of the dom/sub variety wherein a
girl receives a package from her lover along with
instructions on a cassette tape. The package contains a pair of
hard plastic panties equipped with a lock and vibrating dildo.
She dons the gizmo, then goes to meet the guy at his club,
where he's a bass player in the band. He is also a whiz at
audioelectronics, because he's gimmicked her dildo to respond
to his fretting:

"Whatever frequency of
note I play on my bass will be transferred to the vibrator...if I play
a low E, the vibrator will rumble slowly and deeply. If I play a high
note, the vibrator will buzz quickly and sharply. What's more, how
hard I pluck the strings will be reflected in the intensity of the
vibrations. Quiet passages will make it buzz faintly. More vigorous
playing will mean more vigorous vibrating."

Despite the originality of the idea, the story was marred by the
same faults that inhibited the story above, namely, lack of
attention to realistic detail and overall tepidness. For example,
would a wild rock n' roll guitarist really talk like the man in
the above passage? He sounds more like David Byrne than
Kurt Cobain.

Hmmm, on second thought make that Marilyn Manson. He did
a pretty mean debate with Florence Henderson on "Politically
Incorrect."

This story was part fiction, part memoir, and details what
happens when the narrator meets a beautiful golf-playing
female oddball who's constantly pushing the societal
envelope:

"I find other women do not like her, despise her in fact,
mostly. She has few true friends, though she is incredibly
friendly. The price you pay, I suppose, when you make your
own rules and flaunt the unspoken and unwritten rules of
others, however innocently. True freedom is an ugly sight to
the self-enslaved."

The story then gives an overview of their capricious affair.

I couldn't quite call this a sex story, as the sex acts weren't
given the emphasis--the play of personalities was. Still, it was
well-written and unusual, a little "purple" in places
(prosewise that is) but making up for it in its exuberant prose
and wry, sweet nostalgia. And I loved that title. If you want me
to review your story, it helps to have an unusual title. "A Day
at the Beach" or "Underage Babysitter" just doesn't cut it.

A young college student meets Surrey, a half-Spanish, half-
Egyptian girl who decorates her apartment with ancient
Egyptian artifacts. After making love one night he falls asleep
with one such object, a three-inch obscene statuette, nestled
in the bedcovers. Imagine his surprise, and hers, when he
wakes up to find his consciousness has been transferred into
the statue:

"For the first time, John saw his new form...this time, they
were John's features, a perfect likeness, except not exactly in
proportion. In particular, the body was sculpted to be smooth
and torpedo shaped, completely bald, about an inch and a half
in diameter and 3 inches tall. John was squating on his knees
on a pedestal. The pedestal had a pencil-sized hole bored
through it.

But worst of all, for John, was that he was carved completely
naked. His penis was hard (and felt hard! Eternally hard) and
was carved as this huge member pointing straight up towards
his
chin, alongside his stomach. Further, his nipples were large
and extended, looking a bit ridiculous, almost as if he had
slight breasts carved in, and his ass were exposed with a deep
crack carved in. The statue, and John, had become pink
ivory."

As stories go, this was pretty silly but fun. It read like a
lighter, fluffier version of one of Eli the Bearded's stranger
tales. Although it was listed as femdom, the tone was so genial
the events came off as cute rather than sexually threatening,
such as this one (Surrey has tucked the boyfriend/statue in
her leotard in aerobics class)"

" "Oh!" Surrey exclaimed. During their left-right body twists,
the statue had gradually worked it's way underneath the
wasteband of her tights. She dreaded what was coming next.

"OK! Running in place!" the instructor called out. The entire
room started to jog energetically.

John felt the head of the statue work it's way into the
wasteband of the tights. When Surrey started to jog, each step
seemed to drill the figurine deeper and deeper into the tights.

"What's that?" John wondered, feeling a little tickling around
his face. "Oh my god! It's her pubic hair!" John came almost
instantly (it was his 2nd time since the aerobics started). "

To his or her credit, all the scenes kept this same level of
detail. The author also reveals a flair for humor as well.

The story was flawed by the point of view and passive
sentence problems that plagued (?) the vampire story--
namely, the writer constantly switches heads to tell us what
each character is seeing and experiencing at the time. I'll say,
stick with one--the guy's.

Here's another cybersex story, this one F/F. The narrator
comes home to find his girlfriend, Hobbs, on a chatline with
an exotic dancer. Like all exotic dancers everywhere, she's
stacked, pussy-shaved, and bisexual. The two swap deep,
earnest confessions of burning passion, like these:

"Hobbs: I'm going to lean forward and bring my tits close to
your face

Bi 4u: sitting in the chair still

Hobbs: my nipple is really hard now... I'm going to rub my
nipple on
your temple... that feels soooooo good

Bi 4u: mmmmmmmmmmmmm.... i want to touch u"

In between these exchanges, the narrator grumps:

["Jesus baby, you're killing me here! When are you going to
fuck her?" I say, cock in hand.]

Then,

[That's it for me. I shoot a load right onto Hobbs's arm. She
looks at me, a little disgusted, and says, "Jeez, aim next time..." Sure I'll
aim next time, straight up your ass, I'm thinking.]

What a fun guy!

Though the story was amusing, with the tone of a pissed off
Harley-riding, beer-drinkin' Mike Hunt protege ("Here ya
are, scumbags! Enjoy it!") I couldn't decide if the writer
intended the story to be a serious turn-on for adult men and
women or was showing us just how trite and banal the very
concept of cybersex is. (Remember what I said about it
February's review of "Raven Hair.") You could take it either
way, I guess.

Now for *another* Raven...

Anyone remember those great Russ Meyer B-movies of the
late 60s? For those not in the know, or those who need a brass
knuckle on the side of the head to remember, they were about
half-undressed, monumentally stacked heroines in
unintelligible plots that always involved them doing things
that made their breasts bounce...frugging in go-go clubs,
wrestling, kickboxing, running from the law. They had titles
like "Vixen" and "Mudhoney" and the incomparable "Faster
Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" (which featured half-Japanese half-
Apache karate expert Tura Satana.) They were to the 60s what
film noir was to the 40s. They were total trash, and total fun.

What Ravensword has done is turned Meyer's personal vision
into some great erotic fiction. The heroines of these stories
are women who enjoy beating the crap out of other women,
but there's also an erotic component: it makes them horny as
hell. The two opposite drives thus give a strong D/s flavor to
the proceedings, with more of a payoff than Meyer ever gave
us.

The newest serial is "Hollywood Cat Pack." It concerns a sort of
alternate-world version of the studio system where starlets
fight other starlets in sandpits and wrestling rings for shots
at choice movie roles. Real-life stars (Marilyn Monroe, Hugh
Hefner) are amusingly mixed with fake ones (Stella Stellar)
and star sound-alikes (Jane Blonda, Margaret-Ann Magnuson)
in a world of drugs, booze, cigarettes, double-dealings, orgies,
and ancient rituals. Rocky, a naive young actress, is seduced
into the Hollywood Cat Pack by her manager, who tells her
membership is the only way to become a big-name star.
Female members are required to fight each other for the
mens' amusement, so first Rocky fights capitol bitch Angie
Prickerson, then battles Stella Stellar in the Playboy Club (the
latter with both combatants dressed as bunnies.) To her
horror and amazement, Rocky finds herself enjoying her
battles, and enjoying the sex that follows even more, as the
winner gets to fuck the loser. In between these bouts she has
dreams of a Greco-Roman alternate universe called Catalan
where she was once a high-ranking noblewoman who fought
her countrywomen to rise higher in the royal court. As it
turns out, the male leader of the Hollywood Cat Pack is the
reincarnation of a slave Rocky once wronged in that other
life, and now he's out for revenge.

The story was fast-moving and entertaining without an excess
word easing the pace, and the fight sequences were truly
breathtaking. The sex was of the D/s variety and on the
violent side; there was no love or tenderness in these stories.
However, I didn't miss it, as it's a given that the appeal of
fiction like this is to read about avaricious bitches fighting
and clawing their way to the top. The same principle exists in
TV soap operas like Melrose Place in a much-muted form. But
Ravensword takes them to their most extreme point, and
there's no turning back. If you haven't guessed, I enjoyed
these stories a lot.

The five other stories deal with catfighting with an Oriental
slant, taking place among corporate boards and the
clandestine arenas of Asia. The site also features pics of
Korean-American wrestler Fuchsia, links to action-adventure
stars like Catherine Bach (the former Daisy Duke) and GLOW
(Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling). The layout of the site was neat
and well-organized, easy to find your way around, and the
server was fast. In short, it's kitty heaven.
