Celeste's Top 15 Stories - September 1997

Note: Even though guest reviewers write the posted reviews of some of these
stories, I read any story that I think may be eligible for a monthly or
annual award. I personally take responsibility {and blame} for these lists.
If someone else wants to publish an alternate list of awards, that's fine
with me.

Second Note: Since many readers would like to read the top stories for each
month, I would appreciate it if authors would repost as many of these stories
as possible. You may wish to repost the stories in
alt.sex.stories.moderated, as well as in alt.sex.stories. If you wish, you
can label them as Celeste's #x for Sept: Name of Story.

Third Note: I have had great success finding these stories on the World Wide
Web by using the Deja News Server (www.dejanews.com). In addition, most of
these stories have been posted and archived through
alt.sex.stories.moderated. You can even find past issues of my reviews
through these services.

Here are this month's reviews in alphabetical order:

"Afrodite" by Unknown Author (Reposted by who@why.not). After reviewing over
2000 stories posted on this newsgroup, I suppose I have become a bit cynical.
One of my general guidelines is that if the male narrator describes the
female protagonist's measurements with precise mathematical exactitude (in
this case, 34D-22-34) the story is going to be superficial and shallow.
Nevertheless, since the author spelled "areolas" right, my interest grew, as
did his manhood.

The story is essentially unmitigated hedonism, as you might expect from its
title. Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love and passion, to whom the
Romans later gave the less sexy name of Venus. With a blanket, picnic
basket, bottle of wine and two glasses but no mosquitoes or sand flies, they
merrily fuck each other's brains out in the great outdoors on a beautiful
romantic night.

I'm always a little put off by unnecessary focus on physical magnitude as an
indicator of sexuality. In addition to Afrodite's 34D-22-34 measurements, we
learn that the narrator has an immense (13-inch) cock. That sort of detail
is more a distraction than a turn-on to me. My husband has a friend who
responds to a parting "Have a good one!" with "I already have a good one; I
just need a bigger one!" Actually, all women know that a good one is better
than a big one. Or, as my friend replies to "A good cock is hard to find":
"A hard cock is good to find."

If you have a taste for unmitigated hedonism, you'll enjoy this well-written
story. If anyone knows who actually wrote this story, I'd certainly like to
find out.

"The Big Time" by Michael K. Smith (mksmith1@swbell.net). The 18-year-old
narrator is sunbathing on the patio when she is surprised by her little
sister's boyfriend, and so she has a little fun by flirting with him and
getting him to ogle her. Then she gives him some sex education - simple
things like how to apply sun tan lotion, how to French kiss, how to suck
nipples.... The kid takes lessons really well. Then the next day he applies
what he has learned to the narrator's younger sister. In addition to being
sexy, this story is actually kind of touching.

"The Chair" by Paola Kathuria (paola@arcglade.demon.co.uk) Guest review by
Anne747.

My challenge is to write a review shorter than the story today. I'm only
being somewhat serious actually. This piece is in reality a short hot story
about a couple having sex in a chair. It works pretty well, giving a very
good hot scene. There are a few times that the wording is a little awkward,
but that problem is fairly minor.

The only thing I would like is a little more description of the couple.
About all we learn is that she has full breasts, and that she has pubic
hair. The piece could have been so much better with just a little more
description of touches. Is his skin slick with sweat? It is smooth, or can
she feel his muscles as she rides him? Is her hair short, or do her long
strands curl over her skin? Just a little more description could add so much
more to this piece.

"The Computer Flirt" by Taria (TariaT@aol.com). This is an extremely
creative and sexy story. It's about two ladies who contact another lady
online for cybersex. Kim gives Alicia and Diana the instructions, and they
do what they are told. A good time is had by all - including the reader. I
strongly recommend this story.

Cybersex is an interesting topic. There are two reasons why I myself don't
cyber: (1) I would never really know who the person is on the other end and
(2) I don't like the idea of playing with relationships . Three reasons
actually - I'm also extremely happy with what I've got.

The upside of cybersex is that it can be extremely safe. You can engage in
really exotic or kinky stuff without risk of STDs or physical harm. You
don't even have to know about bad breath or middle-age bulges or any other
physical features that might interfere with more direct relationships. In
addition, you are limited only by your imagination; and as this story shows,
you can combine cybersex with actual sex.

But there can be some downsides. Please don't take this as a sermon. Maybe
I am being excessively cautious. My suggestion is simply that you think
before you pop your cybercherry.

First, I wouldn't really know who the other person is. It could be a guy
pretending to be a girl (or vice versa) or an eight-year-old pretending to be
twenty-eight. It could be a person on the rebound from a shaky relationship
who expects more from cybersex than I am willing to give. Real, in-person,
direct relationships are risky; but online relationships are extremely open
to deception. You may not care, but at least sometimes the possibility of
deception would bother me.

Second, I don't want to jeopardize my relationship with my husband by
becoming really intimate with someone else. I know it's across cyberspace,
but intimacy is intimacy. I may start out being frivolous and find things
getting serious. Even more problematic is the fact that I wouldn't really
know the personality or state of mind of the person I'm cybering with. For
example, he may SAY he wants to just have fun, but he may actually be lonely
and expect a lot more than I am willing to give.

So how does cybersex differ from sex stories? Well, sex stories are clearly
fiction and they are not interactive. No real personalities are directly
involved. For example, I can get all hot and bothered about a story, but at
least I know my relationship to the author.

Quite likely lots and lots of you disagree with me, and I sincerely hope you
have fun with your cybersex. I merely suggest that you think before you hump
- er, jump.

"A Daughter's Breasts" by Mark Aster (myfrthal@aol.com). The nubile teenager
roles over and smiles at her father. "Fuck me, Daddy! Cum all over my tits!
Put a baby inside me!" That's the sort of plot that this title might
suggest; but since Mark Aster wrote this story, it's nothing at all like
that. The father does not spray his spunk all over her ass or even talk
dirty about buckets of cum in ways never seen before on the Web. Instead, we
have a meditation by a father on the emerging adolescence of his young
daughter. The Old Man recalls his own youth and wonders what the current
agents of chaos are thinking about when they put the moves on his little
girl.

"The Drive In" by Mike Hunt (MrM1KE@aol.com). The author himself says that
this is a simple suck and fuck story. That means that there will be no
character development or philosophical insights about the meaning of life -
unless, of course, sucking and fucking ARE the meaning of life.

The basic plot consists of two guys and a girl who go to a drive-in on a
double date which one of their dates missed because she cut her finger. So
the one girl says to her boyfriend in the front seat, "I can't fuck with you
with Mike Hunt in the back seat." And so they all three get in the back seat
and have a threesome.

This story has some problems with anachronisms. For example, it assumes that
drive-ins that showed x-rated movies existed on this planet at the same time
that there were answering machines. But hey, this is a suck and fuck story,
not the History Channel.

But a little historical background may be necessary. Drive-ins (also known
as passion pits) were places where non-Catholic guys and girls went to have
sex in their cars while somebody played movies on a large screen. Or at
least that's what Sister Mary Marshmallow said. Like, the film could break,
and nobody would notice for a half hour or so. And for some reason cars
rocked back and forth in odd ways.

To my eternal embarrassment, the first time I was asked to go on a date to a
drive-in, I asked what movie was playing there.

"Ellen" by Emerson Laken-Palmer (Reposted by who@why.not). Guest review by
BillyG.

I had a brief love affair once. The operative word is brief. We were both
too strong willed and selfish to last, at least with each other. Her desires
were bistable; she either wanted to get laid or she didn't. There was no
middle ground. I'd get amorous and make a move. She'd most likely rebuff me
with a comment such as, "You men are all alike. Is that all you think
about?"

And the answer was yes. That's all I thought about, besides how I might
strangle her and then drop her into the bottomless swamp. Then something
would throw the horny switch and she'd make a move on me. I NEVER resisted.
Not once did I have a headache. I resented the fact that she could and
often did say, "Nothin' doin' dude," while my response was always some
variation of, "Sure, sure, you bet."

The story "Ellen" by Emerson Laken-Palmer depicts a similar nineteen-year-old
boy, Danny who experiences a sexual awakening with his kid sister,
eighteen-year-old Ellen. When Danny wants it, the chances are good that
Ellen will freeze him out. But when she wants it, Danny doesn't have a
chance. I know what that's like; I've been there.

"Ellen" is a good story. The characters are human and more, they're real.
They're both buffeted about by their desires and later, by their guilt.
Danny's first person account tells of his intermittent resolve to NOT be
sexual with his kid sister. She's sweet and innocent (he would rather
believe) and he thinks of himself as single-minded ogre.

There are a couple of very sexy scenes and a couple of pregnancy scares, all
of which lend a heightened reality to this story. It's told as a short
chapter in their lives, soon over and never to be repeated.

The writer's name, Emerson Laken-Palmer sounds like a musical trio. It
reminds me of mishearing the name of a popular duo some years ago. For a
long time I thought the group was called "Haulin' Oats."

"Falling Leaves" by Unknown Author (Reposted by who@why.not). Guest review by
Kim.

This is the story of a young man, David, getting it together with Linda, the
all-but-fifty-year-old best friend of his mother. At least I assume he's
young; it never exactly tells us his age in the story.

The tale begins as David watches Linda run into the nearby woods, apparently
upset over something, and decides to follow her. Unfortunately, he's not a
very good tracker and is soon hopelessly lost in the woods. Luckily he's
discovered by Linda, who takes him under her wing and guides him to a
tranquil spot by a small lake.

After admitting that she'd had a thing for David's Father and that he looks a
lot like him, Linda's soon demonstrating, in a very practical sense, just how
she and David's father used to behave.

Naturally this is just what David has yearned for all his adolescent life.
After some energetic coupling they lie naked together in the sunlight, on a
big rock, admiring the falling autumn leaves.

The story is charmingly told, short, sweet and to the point. The only thing
missing was an explanation as to why Linda was upset and running at the
beginning of the story. Perhaps it's only fitting that we leave Linda with
some mystery anyway. It's also very refreshing to see an older woman in the
role normally reserved for seventeen year olds.

I liked this story a lot. It's an agreeable, believable story, finished off
with a very arousing sex scene. What more could a reviewer ask for?

My only complaint is that we don't know the real author to give him or her
the credit they deserve. {If anyone recognizes this author, please notify me
- Celeste.}

"My Sister Jean" by BillyG (hayden@mindless.com). Guest Review by Piper.
{Note from Celeste: I have previously reviewed 2 earlier chapters of "My
Sister Jean," and I am reposting those reviews below.}

I'm sure there are lots of perve..., uh, people out there who saw the word
"incest" in the story description and downloaded it strictly in the hope of
finding a couple (or more) of family members doing the nasty. You know, like
in Frank McCoy's stories. Or Tiffany's. Or even Michael K. Smith's. Not
here, I'm not sorry to say. At least, not in the first 19 chapters.

(Insert - picture of some overgrown pimply-faced no-longer-adolescent guy
sitting down, hunched over, with his nose six inches from the monitor and
drool running down from his open mouth and dripping off his chin into his
keyboard).

The author sent Celeste a copy of chapter 19, asking her to review it, even
though he "knows" (and explains in his letter) it's not really her thing.
Incest, that is. Nor is reviewing incomplete stories (one chapter out of
many, with maybe one, maybe several, left to come). However, since Celeste
is usually quite accommodating, but is currently rather overburdened with
getting the new school year off to a flying start, she passed the baton to me
<grin>. Hey Billy. You ready for this? He-he-he.

Unknown to Celeste (obviously), I've already read all 19 chapters (I guess
she knows now!). It's going to be difficult writing about _only_ the latest
one. So, what the heck. I'll write about the latest chapter _and_ about the
whole thing.

Hey, this is actually a good story - let me emphasize *story* - about two
relatively normal kids growing up. One is a typical over-hormoned teenage
guy with a lust for anything vaguely feminine. The other one is his equally
libidinous but much more controlled fox of a sister. The guy has a panty
fetish, by the way. That's how his sister first caught him; he was sniffing
around in the clothes hamper.

Over the course of time, they develop a code of honor, and start some
low-grade experimentation with each other. Like exposure. Touching. Things
like that. They don't _do the nasty_ right away. All the previous chapters
explore different situations, how they deal with each other's wants and
desires, and dig into how they feel about each other, the rest of the family,
and the world at large. This is fun stuff! Richly detailed, imaginative,
and engrossing. The author even manages to pull off using "natural" language
in his conversations without getting stilted or slangy.

Chapter 19 takes place on Little Cayman (Island). There's lots of innuendo,
sexy talk, some emotional bits, gameplay, and a bit of mental manipulation.
And some scuba diving. And a very pretty (slightly older) dive master.
This isn't the kind of stuff to get you off. However, it is the kind of
stuff that will make you go look for your spouse (or whomever) to help you
get off. Titillation. That's the word I'm looking for. The almost-done
deed. But, despite the author's claim that this chapter stands up well on
its own, it doesn't. Not really. This chapter is a continuation of the
previous one and a setup for the next one(s). Also, if I had read this
chapter without knowing any of the previous history of these characters, it
would have been impossible to understand the reasoning behind some of their
conversations and actions. Like who Ian and Jan are. And the "sex
agreement" the two siblings have. It isn't explained in this segment. Of
course, the easy fix is to read all of the chapters in order.

One thing I will suggest to BillyG is that, unless he's purposefully trying
to leave in those amateurish little mistakes, that he either go over the
story carefully a second (or third) time, or get himself hooked up with a
proofreader. Spell-checking alone just doesn't cut it. In several spots,
missing or misused words really derailed the story flow. (Yeah, I know,
we're getting pickier and pickier around here about them dang homonyms and
missing bits of sentence structure. Life's a beach. And then you diet. Or
is it the other way around?)

"Painted Ponies" by Cobalt Jade (cobaltjade@aol.com). Guest review by Kim.

Celeste tells me she keeps trying to find me stories to review that I'll
enjoy. Problem with that is, that whilst I might be happy, you'll all get
bored as I review the same type of story over and over again. Thankfully
she's come up with yet another extraordinary story that I probably would
never have read otherwise.

This story is firmly planted in the virtual world, explored by such films as
The Lawnmower Man, Strange Days and Brainstorm.

A female virtual world sculpture, Trish, has a thing for imaging carousels.
At the same time she's busy trying to ignore the advances of a fellow
programmer, the odious Alec. Working late one night, on her latest creation,
she is mentally taken over by Alec. As she points out to him, this is an
outrageous act in the field of virtualising.

Having wrested control from her, he proceeds to force his twisted sexual
appetites on our hapless heroine. First she is morphed into a female half
horse half human and then bondaged into her own carousel. Alec beats,
humiliates and finally rapes her senseless. At one point Alec is seated in a
saddle on horse Trish's back, at the same time as he's screwing her. Now I'm
not a horse rider myself, but I'm not at all sure this is technically
possible.

So how does Trish react to this? Well, what do ya know, she LOVES it.
Hmmmm... I can't help but feel that Trish would think nothing of the sort.
What we have wondered into here, I fear, is not so much the virtual world of
Trish and Alec, but the rather more stagnant backwaters of Cobalt Jade's
mind.

It's not even a moral piece; when Trish is given back mental control and has
the opportunity to either leave and blow the whistle on Alec, or to wreak
revenge in some appropriate manner, she isn't even allowed to do that. A
glitch in the program keeps them both prisoner and relentlessly rapes them
both all night long. They are eventually unhooked the following morning by
fellow workers, as they both make something of a spectacle of themselves on
the carpet.

After all that, what does Trish do? It's obvious really, she forms a company
to create virtual sex worlds with new found partner Alec, and they both go
off, hand in hand, into a millionaire's sunset. Aw, I love a happy romantic
ending.

What's a reviewer to say about such a story? Well, for one, it's extremely
well written. Parts of it a genuinely arousing, and it all hangs together
well. But... why does such a talented author stoop to such a dissolute
premise, that all a guy has to do to succeed with a woman is to rape her into
submission? There is the mildest of hints that Trish might actually
appreciate this behavior, when Alec tells her he's read her intimate e-mails,
but that's it as far as reasoned behavior goes. Not good enough in my book.
Now I don't quite share Anne's flat-out horror at the use of rape in a story,
but I do think it's beholden upon the author to put it in some sort of
perspective, other than the old cliche of "well, women love it really, don't
they?".

"Pushing the Envelope" by Jordan Shelbourne (Reposted by who@why.not). The
businessman's client has had too much to drink at a strip club, and so the
businessman drives him home, but only under condition that they not disclose
to his wife where they have been. The client's wife turns out to be a former
bedmate of the businessman - back from the wild, hippie days of their young
adulthood. The businessman has a rule (seriously) against humping the wives
of clients, but this setting is pretty tempting. Read it to find out what
happens.

Ratings for "Pushing the Envelope"
Athena (technical quality): 10
Venus (plot & character): 10
Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 10

"Ripe" by BronwenSM (bronwen@anon.nymserver.com). I was once in a graduate
course where, for some reason, the professor showed on the big screen a
picture of a woman with really large breasts. I think the purpose was to
demonstrate the impact of distractions on meaningful information. The
professor asked us to summarize the contents of what we had seen and, of
course, none of us could do this, because we were all overwhelmed with the
thought of those magnificent tits or related events. However, as soon as he
asked the question, one lady shot her hand up, and said, "The whole thing
reminded me of the value of motherhood." She was serious, but the rest of us
howled with laughter.

So in this story we have a women who is obscenely large, cradled like a peach
in packaging, a pillow between her thighs, another under her belly, three
supporting her head and shoulders, a melted pack of peas between the soles of
her feet, sweating bullets in the hottest summer of hot summers, and yet she
is beautiful.  Maybe you have to have been there - or gotten somebody there;
but pregnant sex can be beautiful, even in Great Britain.

This is a very nice, romantic, sexy story.

"She Invited Me to Fuck Her Over the Net" by Lysander
(lysander@bitsmart.com). Every once in a while I get the silly idea that I
have seen all the possible basic plots on this newsgroup. I think I'm going
to stop having that silly idea.

The narrator of this story is essentially a lunatic with special powers -
like being able to find his lost keys without even praying to St. Anthony.
It turns out that one of his special powers is being able to insert pointed
parts of his anatomy into the computer when he dials up those Internet sex
lines that occupy so much of the spam space on a.s.s. Well, as you can
imagine, he gets a Golden Membership and lives happily ever after.

It's even more interesting when you read it the way the author wrote it.

"Ursula" by Friar Dave (friar_dave@mhbbs.com). Guest review by Mike Hunt.

Well, in a.s.s. there are writers and there are writers, and if you want a
big long list go get Ole Joe's compendium. Then there are GOOD writers and
there are a few GREAT writers, and Friar Dave would have to be on that short
list. As Ole Joe sez, Friar Dave tends to write long stories mostly about
very young experiences, and "Ursula" is no exception. It's a multi-chapter
story that ran 70 pages with the topic as predicted.

"Ursula" is the story of a 12-year-old just discovering her sexuality, and we
are led through episodes in which she experiences her first masturbation,
first blowjob, first cunnilingus, first sex, and first anal entry. It's a
tour-de-force of "firsts" and they're all erotic, stimulating, and downright
lewd. Friar Dave connects the dots with believable characters and realistic
settings, and the words flow and chapters link and draw the reader eagerly
through the action, of which there is plentymucho.

Normally I'm a little uncomfortable with stories about 12 year olds, but
having written a "first sex" story or two myself, it would be a quibble to
complain. I will pick a nit about Ursula's multiple orgasms in multiple
settings, and about the over-rapid development of her breasts in a one-year
span of the story, but as I say, it's a nit.

This is not a new story; in fact it carries a 1986 copyright. It's been
reposted by Ole Joe, apparently, and he shows exceptional taste in bringing
it back for your entertainment. Enjoy.

I REALLY liked it. Or maybe it's just because I woke up at 3:00 this morning
with an erection. Dunno.
