The Governor's Wife

Part Thirty-one
How long this time? How long would he remain there, bound
hand and foot? Helplessly at her mercy. Enduring the
ceaseless throb-throb of the weals she had raised. It could
be an hour. Or it could be several. If she so chose, she
could even leave him there till the following morning ....
now that she had arranged for him to stay in the house for
another forty eight hours. Even that stay could be longer,
for the Governor was like putty in her hands. If she wanted
something from him, she got it.
Frank groaned despairingly and, yet again, waves and waves of
self-pity enveloped him.
Oh .... it was all so unfair!
Why him? Why?
At that moment, it was almost impossible to conceive that,
beyond those walls, and outside the prison, men and women
were going about leading normal, contented lives. Eating and
drinking, loving and fucking, above all leading a normal
existence. And they knew nothing of what he was enduring. Nor
would they ever. Frank began to realise what it must be like
to be shut up in some Iron Curtain secret service prison.
Lost and gone. With no one caring. You were withdrawn from
the mainstream of life .... and that stream flowed happily on
without you.
How cruel the world could be!
Admittedly, it had only been just that he had gone to gaol
for his crime (a large bank embezzlement) but it was
monstrously unjust that he should have to submit to this
additional punishment. He was in a prison within a prison
..... with a gaoler untrammelled by the normal conventions of
prison life. No Board of Governors to watch over her. She had
a free hand.
And how she used it!
The mirror was still right before Frank and, every and anon,
he would raise his head to gaze at his lined, exhausted face,
with its reddened eyes. Oh God .... how tired he was! Not
only physically, but mentally. How long could he go on? Frank
closed his eyes. If he could sleep, at least he could forget
his pains for a while.
But sleep did not come easily.
There was not only constant pain, his mind was restlessly
full of wild images ....
Terrifying memories ....
Yet there were other images too ....
Frank strove to concentrate his mind on them.
Hettie's superb body. The intimate ways in which he had been
made to serve her. The memory of her scent and taste were
still strong upon him. His tongue probing .... her wriggling
..... coming to a climax....
Ah yes ....
Once again, Frank felt the solidity of his organ. And that
solidity remained with him until he finally fell into a
fitful sleep.
