Subject: Story - The Dreams Collection No. 3 (kinda romantic) - by Thomas Morris

The Dreams Collection - Number Three.

The sun beat down from the sky, making it a very hot morning.
In his house, Philip sat, watching the television. Suddenly, the
telephone rang. Philip walked over to it, and answered it.
	"Hello." he said.
"Hello." came the voice down the other end of it. "It's me,
Leah. Me and Jane want to come round and visit you."
"OK." replied Philip. It had been a while since he had seen
these two girls, although he did count Jane as his girlfriend.
Later that morning, Philip heard the doorbell ring. He walked
to the door, and opened it. He welcomed Leah and Jane into his house.
Philip looked them up and down, as he was wont to do. "You look as
beautiful as ever, Jane." he commented.
	"Thank you, Philip." she replied.
Philip was wearing a grey T-shirt and purple track-suit
trousers. On his feet were a pair of brown slippers and dark blue
socks. Jane was wearing a yellow blouse and a bright red dress. She
was also wearing red-brown sandals. Leah was clothed in a green
T-shirt, green Bermuda shorts and red-brown sandals.
"I'll find you a boyfriend soon, Leah." commented Philip,
after kissing Jane on the cheek.
"So, what should we do today?" asked Jane.
"Let's go to the beach." replied Philip. "We haven't been
there yet this year."
"True. Well, shall we set off then?" asked Jane.
Philip locked up and walked out. Suddenly, he remembered
something, and walked back into his house. He emerged a couple of
minutes later with three towels, and a pair of swimming shorts.
	"Just in case." explained Philip.
Leah drove them in her car to a car park. From there, they
walked, hand in hand, to the beach. They finally reached the
promenade, and looked out. The tide was in a little way, and the beach
was almost deserted. The pure sands were not polluted, a rarity in
this area.
	"Shall we go?" asked Philip.
	"Yes." urged Jane.
"I'll not." replied Leah, spying a sausage stall. "I'll see
you later."
Philip and Jane walked down the steps onto the sands. Leah
walked over to the sausage stall. In front of her was a boy, of about
the same age as Leah. He got his hot dog, and turned around. He bumped
into Leah before he realised.
	"Sorry." he said. "I'm sorry."
"Oh, it doesn't matter." she replied.
Leah looked into his eyes; she knew this was the right boy for
her. The boy stared back; he hoped she would fall in love with him.
They stood in silence for a short time.
"Yes, miss? What can I get you?" asked the man behind the
stall.
The two of them returned to reality.
"I'll buy it, for you." said the boy. Leah blushed, and
ordered a hot dog. One was duly delivered, and the boy paid for it.
They walked off, eating their food.
"I'm Leah, by the way." said Leah.
"Hello Leah." said the boy. "My name is Thomas."
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Shopping." he replied. "Except I haven't bought anything yet,
except for a can of Coke and two hot dogs. What are you doing here?"
"My friend and her boyfriend wanted to go somewhere, and I'm
bored in their company."
"Haven't you got a boyfriend to take with you?"
"No. I'm just a lonely girl." she shrugged.
Leah looked Thomas up and down. He was wearing a dark green
jumper, green-grey trousers and a pair of white training shoes.
"We make a good partnership." commented Thomas. "After all,
we're both wearing green."
"It's my favourite colour." replied Leah.
"It's mine too." said Thomas, with wonder.
They finished eating their hot dogs.
"What are you actually shopping for?" asked Leah.
"I've got to buy some refills and some envelopes." he said.
"But of colours only available here in town."
"Where do you live then?" she asked.
	"Ainsdale." he replied.
"I live there too." she enthused. "Anywhere near Liverpool
Road?"
	"On it."
"I must come and visit you some time." she said.
"You wouldn't want to walk around with me, would you? I tend
to get rather lonely."
"I'd love to." she said. "I wouldn't be doing much on the
beach anyway. I tell you what, I'll drive you home. I drove them
here."
"Thanks, Leah, but there's really no need ..."
	"I insist." said Leah.
After doing his shopping, Thomas and Leah went back to Leah's
car, and she drove off.
While they had been walking around the shops, they had been
getting to know each other a lot more. By the time they were in the
car, they had fallen in love.
Eventually, they arrived back at Thomas' house.
"Thomas." she said. "If you want, you can come to the beach
with me."
	"What good would I be?"
"It would just make me feel less lonely. Besides, we don't
have to stay with my friends."
"Sure." replied Thomas. "I'd like that."
"Get changed." she said. "Wear something cool."
"Come in, and help me choose what to wear."
	"All right." she said.
They went into his house, and up to his bedroom. Thomas took
his jumper off, and exposed his pale blue T-shirt. "Will this do?" he
asked.
"Sure." replied Leah. "Now, about the trousers. Do you have
any shorts?"
	"Bermuda shorts or short shorts?"
	"Either."
Thomas opened a drawer, and pulled out two pairs of -
predominantly green - Bermuda shorts, one pair of rather small white
shorts, and a pair of blue shorts.
	"Are any waterproof?" asked Leah?
	"Yes. The blue ones."
"Then wear them under ... those." she said, pointing to a pair
of ultra-psycadelic green Bermuda shorts.
"All right. Are you going to let me change in peace?" he
asked.
Leah left the room, and came back when Thomas called her a few
moments later. He was standing by the bed, wearing the shorts and the
T-shirt.
"Now, footwear." she mused. "Do you have any sandals?"
	"Nope."
	"Slippers?"
	"Nope."
"Very well." she said. "You can either wear your trainers, or
nothing."
	"Nothing?" asked Thomas, incredulously.
"Yes." replied Leah. "It's a hot day, and we'll be on a beach,
so having no footwear can be excused."
"I suppose so." he admitted. Secretly, he'd always fancied
walking barefoot with a girl; it was said to be what lovers did.
"Will you be doing the same; wearing nothing on your feet I
mean?"
"Yes, for most of the time I will be. Does it matter?"
"Not really, I was just wondering ... Do you want to leave
them here?"
"No thanks." she answered. "I like to have something on my
feet while walking over hard or stony ground."
	"So do I." he countered.
"But sandals are easy to slip off, and I can put them
anywhere, they're so small."
"All right, point taken." he mumbled.
He sat on the edge of the bed, and kicked his shoes off. He
breathed in deeply, then swiftly dragged his socks off. He stood up,
took Leah's hand, and walked out of his house. After locking the door,
he walked to the car. The concrete felt very hot under his feet,
except in the shade.
"Do you mind going barefooted? I mean, it's not something
you'd do every day."
"Not really." replied Thomas, getting in to the car. "It's a
hot day, I'm unlikely to meet anyone I know, and there will be others
doing the same thing. Besides, I'm walking with the girl that I love.
Nothing can get in the way of that. It's romantic."
In the car, Leah blushed. "We've only just met." she
commented.
"Do you believe in love at first sight?" he asked.
"I do now," she replied, "now I've met you."
She placed her left hand on Thomas' right knee, and gripped it
tightly.
Thomas felt embarrassed and confused; he did not know really
what to do. Suddenly, Leah began to slowly move her hand along his
thigh. Thomas reached out, and grabbed Leah's left knee, and pressed
down lightly on it. Leah suddenly turned to him.
"Do you love me?" she asked.
Thomas leaned towards her. "I love you enough to make myself
suffer. Leah Durbis, you're so sweet, I'd walk with you while in bare
feet."
Leah leaned towards Thomas; they met. They were just about to
kiss, when they suddenly realised what they were supposed to be doing.
Leah leaned back, and drove off. Thomas sat silently, his hands on his
knees, embarrassed.
The rest of the journey was done in total silence; Thomas was
too embarrassed to say anything, and Leah could not think of anything
to say. Eventually, they arrived at a car park, near the beach. Leah
and Thomas got out of the car, and walked across the stony ground to a
road. Thomas felt uncomfortable, but he did not really care.
After crossing a road, they arrived at the beach. They went
down some stairs, and stepped onto the hard sands.
"Where are your friends?" asked Thomas.
Leah looked around. In the far distance, she saw two people,
one in yellow and red, the other only wearing a pair of blue shorts.
"That could be them." she said. "Shall we go and see?"
"All right." said Thomas. "But if we have to run, could we
please do it in softer sand?"
They walked away from the promenade. Fairly soon, they came
across some fairly soft sand, that felt very warm and very comfortable
underneath Thomas' feet. After walking a few yards, Leah winced, with
discomfort.
	"What's wrong?" asked Thomas.
"It's my sandals." she replied. "They're not much good over
this softer sand."
They stopped. Leah sat down, on the sand, and slipped her
sandals off.
"Where are you going to put them?" asked Thomas.
She stood up. From a pocket on her shorts, Leah retrieved two
small pieces of rope. She tied them around each sandal, and then tied
them to the rope holding up her shorts. She placed one sandal either
side of her waist.
"Does that answer your question?" she asked.
"I suppose so." replied Thomas. "Do you mind going barefoot?"
"I don't know; I've never done it before." Leah paused.
"Actually, it's always been a fantasy of mine to run along a beach,
holding the hand of a boyfriend, on a hot day, with both of us wearing
only T-shirts and shorts, and hence in bare feet."
"And me." commented Thomas. "Take my hand."
Leah took Thomas' left hand, and gripped it tightly. She
rubbed her feet into the sand. "It's so soft and warm underfoot." she
enthused. "So lovely and romantic."
"Well, you are a lovely, romantic person." flattered Thomas.
"Shall we go?"
	"Let's go."
Barefoot they ran, over the soft sands, just as fast as they
could, holding on to one another's hands.
They had been running for about 1/2 mile, when Leah suddenly
tripped over, and fell, face-down, onto the sand. Thomas knelt down
beside her, and turned her over. Her eyes were closed.
"Leah? Are you all right?" he asked.
"Leah opened her eyes, and stared painfully at Thomas. "I ..
think so." she said. "I'll .. be OK in a couple of minutes."
"Oh, Leah!" Thomas grabbed Leah's right hand, and held it
close to his heart. Then he brought it to his mouth, and kissed it.
After a while, Leah slowly got to her feet. "I'm too sore to
run any more. Can we stay here?"
	"Sure."
Thomas held Leah close to him, and helped her to walk. "I'm
sorry about this." she said.
"Don't be." replied Thomas. "At least we're alone now. So,
what do you want to do?"
Leah looked out to sea. "The tide's in." she observed. "Let's
paddle."
They walked, hand in hand, into the sea. The water, although
not perfectly clear, was reasonably transparent.
They began to splash and spray each other with water. This
continued until Leah made one great splash at Thomas, and ran off into
the sea. Thomas chased after her, and ran into deeper water.
Eventually, Thomas caught hold of her. The water was above Thomas'
knees and half-way down Leah's shorts; she could barely move for the
water.
Thomas placed his hands on her shoulders, turned her head and
kissed her on the lips. Leah walked backwards, in fun, to avoid
Thomas, then turned around and went deeper. The water was up to
Thomas' waist, and well over that on Leah, when Thomas finally caught
her again. Both their shorts were soaking, as were Leah's sandals.
Thomas grabbed her around the chest, and kissed the back of her neck.
Then, with a firm grip of her, he spun her round, and kept his arms
around her.
"You won't escape this time." smiled Thomas, whispering.
Leah kicked her legs back behind her, and held them up. Then
she moved them round to behind Thomas, and grabbed hold of his waist
with them. Her arms were wrapped around his neck.
"Carry me back, Thomas." she cried. "And kiss me."
Thomas turned around, cradled Leah in is arms, walked back to
the shore, and gave Leah's lips an occasional peck with his lips, or a
rub with his tongue. Just before the sea ended, he placed Leah down,
on the sands, with her feet towards the sea.
"You're right." she said, faintly. "Walking barefoot is
better. Throw my sandals into the sea."
	"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Positive." she replied. "If anyone asks, I can always say I
stepped in a very deep puddle and lost them. In any case, I never
liked that pair anyway."
Thomas untied the sandals from her waist, and threw them as
hard as he could into the sea. They disappeared with a slight 'plop'.
Then he knelt down, in the water, placed his hands either side of her,
and gradually fell on top of her until his face just touched hers.
"Here's your kiss." he said, and then he kissed her.
