Keywords: b mf exhib drug Better living...through chemistry. If ever there was an example of that being true, it would be Stay-boy--the revolutionary drug for delaying the onset of puberty in boys. In the latter half of the previous century and the early part of this century, society faced a growing problem that was largely the result of technology. More efficient food production, better sanitary facilities, and the control of communicable diseases led to a much healthier population. Along with that came a much earlier onset of puberty. Two centuries ago, children typically started puberty in their mid-teens (15 to 17 years old). By the start of this century, it had become quite common for children to start puberty in their pre-teen years (often 12 years old, but frequently as young as 9 or 10). At the same time, the increasing complexities of a technological society meant that children had to spend much more time preparing for adulthood. As recently as the middle of the previous century, a person with an eighth-grade education could get a job that paid well enough to provide for a family and live a comfortable lifestyle. Within a few decades, it became increasingly necessary to stay in school longer--whether technical school or college--to gain the skills necessary to obtain a well-paying job. The result was that children went from becoming sexually mature at approximately the same time (or just a few years before) they were able to provide for a family to becoming sexually mature a decade or more before they were financially and emotionally prepared to deal with parenthood. Children were pressured internally to engage in sexual activity and externally to delay sexual activity. Fortunately, advances in technology eventually led to a solution: Stay-boy. The explosion of genetic knowledge gained from extensive research led to the discovery of the precise chain of chemical events that start puberty. Using this knowledge, researchers produced a drug that inhibits the onset of puberty by bonding more readily to it than with the body's usual receptors. Initially, this drug was used to treat precocious puberty; however, the revolution came when someone realized that it could have broader application--at precisely a time when parents would be open to the idea. The wide-spread use of drugs to treat ADHD got parents accustomed to the idea of treating behavioral problems with medication. No one knows for sure who first suggested that delaying puberty could have numerous, positive effects, but the idea of their cute, eager-to-please little boys remaining cute, eager-to-please little boys spread among parents like wildfire. Parents involved in the initial studies had nothing but praise for this new "wonder drug." They extolled the virtues of Stay-boy to anyone who would listen. In addition to their sons maintaining their sweet dispositions, parents also noted that their boys were more attentive in school and more focused on productive activities--including sports and other extracurricular activities. Stay-boy quickly went from being something that might help some boys to something that parents had to have for their boys if they wanted them to be competitive with their peers. Of course, there was also quite a bit of reluctance among parents to "interfering with nature," but a second breakthrough tipped the scales in Stay-boy's favor. The initial version of Stay-boy contained ingredients that eliminated the urge for boys to engage in sex. Researchers thought that a complete product should also *prevent* a boy from engaging is sex. A new product was released that not only prevented puberty but also contained an ingredient that prevented the boy from getting erections by similarly bonding more readily with the chemical signals that caused erections. "Safe from the urges, safe from the means" read the advertising copy. The improved Stay-boy rapidly became a top seller. A parallel product--Safe-boy--was released that contained only the erection inhibitor. Marketed as a "safe--and temporary--means of inhibiting erections," Safe-boy caught on with many parents who were fearful of possible long-term effects of Stay-boy. Safe-boy was sold in liquid form in single-dose, two-ounce bottles. The drug was quickly absorbed by the body, working in as little as thirty minutes and lasting for up to twelve hours. Evidence of it's temporary nature was easily observable, relieving a large number of parents of their fears. An interesting development was that many parents began insisting that boys take Safe-boy before allowing them to go on a date with their daughters. Rather than providing their children with condoms, ensuring that their children wouldn't need condoms was much more appealing to parents. This resulted in a number of unforeseen benefits. Parents often insisted that the boy hang around their house for the 30 to 45 minutes it took for the drug to start working. This provided an opportunity for parents to get to know their daughters' boyfriends better (and vice versa), which led to better relationships both between the parents and the boy and the boy and his girlfriend. Girls were, naturally, curious about the effects of the drug, and numerous boys found themselves the happy recipients of an enthusiastic hand job at the first opportunity for relative privacy. Since Safe-boy in no way interferes with the sensitivity of the penis, boys are still capable of orgasm and ejaculation--albeit somewhat less satisfying and considerably less forceful in the absence of an erection. The pre-date hand job became an open secret then a fait accompli of modern teen dating. The fact that intercourse was off the table led to greater acceptance of other forms of sexual activity among teens. Teens openly discussed oral sex, and boy/girl sleepovers--with a boyfriend and girlfriend sharing a bed--became acceptable and more common (as did the prank of slipping the groom some Safe-boy at his wedding reception, thus getting his honeymoon off to an amusing--and frustrating--start). By this time, about half of all teenaged boys were taking Stay-boy, and most of the rest were taking a tablet-based version of Safe-boy that was longer-lasting than the liquid form. Either way, parents had a safe and effective way of preventing teen pregnancy. Teenaged pregnancy rates plummeted. Of course, teenaged girls could still engage in intercourse with young adult men, but such men were more likely to use condoms. Regardless, with greater acceptance of sexual activity between teen girls and "safe" boys, few teen girls sought the attention of fully-functional males. As Stay-boy and Safe-boy became as commonplace as daily vitamins, and safe sexual activity among teens became more accepted, other changes began to take place. A popular toilet-training method, often called "Naked Potty Training," advocated keeping children bare-bottomed during the process. After the initial success of Stay-boy, it became apparent that there was significant value to "keeping an eye on" a boy's development so that the window of opportunity for starting Stay-boy would not be missed. Since many boys would balk at reintroducing bare-bottom time at the age of seven or eight, parents began the practice of a permanent bare-bottom-at-home policy for boys once they started toilet training. For boys, removing one's shorts upon arriving home gradually became a practice more common than removing one's shoes. With friends and relatives visiting, boys became accustomed to being seen naked by people outside of their immediate family, and removing one's shorts indoors when visiting others became an accepted--and expected--practice. It wasn't long before playing naked in the backyard and swimming naked--even at public lakes, beaches, and pools--became prevalent. In general, boy nudity became as acceptable as bare feet and bare chests--taboo at school, the mall, and semi-formal to formal occasions, but largely unnoticed at home, around the neighborhood, and at informal gatherings. Today, nearly two-thirds of pre-teen and teen boys take Stay-boy, and nearly all the remaining teen boys take Safe-boy. The reduced stress of delayed puberty, the near-elimination of teen pregnancy, and the more-open acceptance of boy nudity and teen sexual activity have led to more peaceful and enjoyable teen years--for both parents and children. The widespread use of Stay-boy and Safe-boy has resulted in clear benefits for modern society. ----- If you enjoyed this story (or any of my other stories), I would appreciate a quick comment.
