Technical note: A gasp is a rapid intake of breath. In this
story, it also means a rapid expelling of breath, since it is
close to the sound I mean. Sigh, grunt, groan, pant and scream
don't work.

How You Like It, or Jake and the Beatles

Based on a Shakespeare play.

Sam

I didn't understand why Verne got so mad about my taking Chase to
Fred's party. She had invited me and was practically a member of
the family. She was my sister's friend and often stayed over.
When I first heard them having sex with each other I hadn't
thought much of it. If they wanted to have a little fun it was
their business. I didn't mind listening, and my parents room was
at the other end of the house. Then one night both of them had
come into the room I shared with Verne. He was two years older
than me and a year older than them. Chase had gotten into bed
with Verne, and Jenny, my sister, had asked if she could share my
bed so she could watch. I said okay. We both watched and listened
to them fuck. Verne came soon after Chase did the first time, but
it didn't seem to slow him down much. Jenny got so excited she
let me feel her up under her nightgown. So that was what a breast
felt like. I never would have guessed. It was soft without being
squishy and the nipple was like a tiny erection. I got so excited
watching the others that I came humping her buttock before I
realized what I was doing. She took my hand and put it in her
panties and showed me what she wanted. I probably shouldn't have
let her, even though I saw her practically naked when we brushed
our teeth and we used to take baths together. She had hair down
there now and was soaked. She showed me what she felt like
inside, then moved my finger to her clitoris. Her orgasm seemed
pretty much like mine. If Verne and Chase took a break anytime
before she and Chase went back to her room in the morning, I
wasn't aware of it.

After that Chase often came into our room and got into bed with
Verne when she stayed over, and sometimes Jenny came with her and
got into bed with me. She took off her nightgown and panties
before she did, but we never went further than we did that first
night except for some kissing and nuzzling. I did go to the party
with Chase in spite of all Verne's yelling. We had never gotten
along very well anyway, and I didn't see why it was such a big
deal. It wasn't like I was trying to seduce her.

Ali

Ross and I were up in my room. We were cousins and had grown up
together, but weren't exactly like sisters. She was upset about
Dean going to the lake. Everyone knew about Hour Lake. It was in
the hills outside town, and some local townspeople had bought it
for summer cottages five generations ago. They had been part of
the German health movement, and the whole place was clothing
optional. There were eleven or twelve cottages at one end of the
lake and a beach the older kids used at the other. The lake and
surrounding forest couldn't be developed because the association
that owned it had granted a conservation easement, but
descendants of the original settlers had built a few more
cottages off in the woods, and some people had winterized their
cottages and lived there year round.

Dean and Fred had been fighting about the direction of the band.
Fred wanted to play Led Zeppelin and van Halen, and Dean wanted
to keep playing mostly the Beatles and Stones. When most of the
band sided with his brother, Dean and Jake had decided to skip
school before the long weekend and go up to the lake. Ross said
it wasn't fair. She had been looking forward to going to Fred's
party with Dean for weeks. I said she could still go, we could go
together. She said it wasn't the same. I said no, it wasn't, but
I loved her just as much as Dean did. Didn't she care about me?
And maybe we would meet some cute boys. Fred was just as big an
idiot as Dean was. It would serve them both right. She giggled at
that. I leaned over and kissed the side of her neck below her
ear. She told me to stop that, I knew what it always led to. I
kept doing it. I stroked her other cheek, her breast, her
stomach, her thigh. After a couple minutes she reached down and
undid her pants. I reached inside.

I stoked her panties. They were wet, like they always were by the
time I got there. I slid my fingers into them and stroked her
clitoris. She gasped and turned her head to kiss me. I pushed her
back on the bed and slid off her pants and mine. I got on top and
continued kissing her, much tongues but no dribbling. Most girls
don't like sloppy kissers. When I stood up to finish undressing,
she took off her shirt and bra but kept her panties on. When I
lay down again, she rolled me over the mounted me. No matter how
many times I started out on top, it always ended up this way. I
think she was part boy. I held my legs up as she worked me,
trying to make me come. I held out for a bit then let myself. Her
breathing deepened and she gasped out her own orgasm. I said yes,
I would like to go to Fred's party with her. She said good. I
could never tell if she noticed when I switched things around.

There were twelve people at the party when we got there, and a
few more arrived after we did. We talked to Chase, the keyboard
player, for a while. The fool came over and told me that Fred
wanted to talk to me. So we went and found Fred. He told us Chase
had come with a boy who seemed to like her but kept running away
from her. I said I had noticed someone trying not to look like he
was watching us when we were talking to her. Fred said that was
him and asked us to encourage the boy. He said Chase was
difficult to work with when she was frustrated. So Ross went back
over to Chase to distract the boy while I circled around behind
him. He almost dropped his drink when I said hello. He said hi. I
told him Chase liked him, and I hoped he wasn't too shy to talk
to her. He said no, that wasn't it. He knew her pretty well, but
she was his brother's girlfriend. He looked concerned when I
choked on my ginger ale. I told him I didn't think Chase really
had a boyfriend. She went out with a few different boys. I didn't
want to tell him how many. I said if he liked her he should go
for it. She seemed hurt that he wouldn't talk to her. That got to
him. He said he didn't think there was any harm in just talking
to her. I didn't say anything.

Ross and I wandered off to give him a clear field and took some
of Chase's other admirers with us. When we wandered back we found
Chase and him in a clinch on the sofa. His hand was on her
breast, and hers was massaging his thigh and nudging his balls.
When they paused for breath, she shifted slightly to get him to
lower his hand from her breast. But it was a trick. She pretended
she thought the hand on her stomach was headed lower and undid
her pants. This might have seemed too forward, if not for the two
girls wandering around in their shirts and panties, and the one
completely topless in her bluejeans. Her nipples were wide and
pink. There were also other couples kissing. Chase had had a
couple beers. The boy was still drinking seltzer and appeared
sober, but that didn't stop him. He accepted the invitation and
reached into her pants. Judging by the response, he must have
known what he was doing. I don't think Chase had the patience to
fake anything. She had to learn a little though, because he
didn't let her come for ten minutes. I timed them. Chase seemed
to pass out for a few seconds afterward. But he won't let her
take him into a bedroom. That must have been what they started
arguing about. She let him give her another orgasm, then got up
and presumably went in search of someone more cooperative.

After half a decent interval we went and sat on either side of
the boy. I said I was Ali and this was Ross. When he looked
puzzled she said that it was short for Rosalind. He smiled
slightly and said he was Sam. I congratulated him on his victory
and said I was sorry he didn't get a reward. He said it was just
as well. He had gotten a little carried away. Then Ross did
something strange. She took off the thin silver chain she was
wearing and asked him to take it, in apology for our having
pushed him into doing something he hadn't wanted to do. He said
he couldn't do that. He really did like and respect Chase, even
if she was a lioness. Ross said she could see that and fastened
it around his neck anyway. He didn't object, but he did say he
had to go and asked us to say goodbye to Fred and Chase for him.
He seemed distracted.

I've just seen a face
I can't forget the time or place
Where we just met
She's just the girl for me
And want all the world to see
We've met, mm-mm-mm-m'mm-mm

Had it been another day
I might have looked the other way
And I'd have never been aware
But as it is I'll dream of her
Tonight, di-di-di-di'n'di

I asked my coz what that had been all about. She said she'd found
her cute boy. I said he barely spoke two words to her and had run
away. And besides, he was too short for her. She said he was just
shy, and she didn't mind if she was a little taller. She was
taller than a lot of people. I said he wasn't too shy to diddle
Chase in public. She said maybe he was embarrassed after. But he
seemed to be good at it. Should she ask him if he had an older
brother? I hit her and said I could find my own boys.

Fred

I had watched Ali hanging around with Ross all evening. She was
supposed to be my date. Now they were whispering about the boy
who had just left, who was Chase's date. I went over and thanked
Ross for coming. I was sorry she couldn't stay longer. She said
it was still early. I said it might be later than she thought.
She asked if there was a problem? I said she was Dean's
girlfriend. That was problem enough. She said she wasn't here
with Dean. Our fight was none of her business. Ali said Ross was
here with her. I told Ali she was supposed to be helping me host
the party. She said she had wanted to enjoy herself. She had done
most of the work setting up. I asked if she couldn't enjoy
herself with me? She hesitated, then said yes, of course she
could. But my fight with Dean had upset both her and Ross.
Neither one of them wanted to take sides. If Ross was leaving,
then so was she. I said fine. I would see her later. She just
looked at me. Then both of them left without saying anything
else. I felt like I had messed up somehow, but I didn't know what
I had done wrong.

Ali

I was almost sorry for Fred for being such an idiot. Ross said I
didn't have to worry about her. I could go back to the party if I
wanted to. I said I didn't. It wouldn't be any fun without her.
We got in the car and I asked where she wanted to go? She said
Hour Lake. I said it was too late to leave now and we had school
tomorrow. She said after school. When she was quiet for a moment
I asked if she was serious? She said yes. I said and do what? She
said she had never been there. Dean and Fred had never invited
either of us up to their parents cottage. But I had visited my
friend Silver there. Could we stay with her? I thought about it.
I didn't really know her that well, it was more that our parents
were friends. But we had gotten along pretty well, considering. I
said Silver was fairly militant. She barely tolerated the fact
that I was bisexual. She might not like having two of us there.
Ross said she wasn't really bisexual, she was a lesbian. I said
since when? She said just now. I said what about Sam? and Dean?
She said she was mad at Dean, and we wouldn't have to worry about
Sam until we got back. I said right. She no, really. I said if
she was mad at Dean, then why did she want to go there? She said
she was more mad at Fred. Well, I was mad at Fred too. I thought
about it some more and decided it wouldn't hurt to ask. I said I
would see if I could get us an invitation. And as long as we were
imposing, I wanted to bring the fool along as well. He would
follow me anywhere. Ross asked why? I said he was the drummer and
it would further disrupt the band. If we got Fred and Dean mad
enough at us, maybe they would stop fighting with each other. And
besides, he amused me. She started giggling. She had the most
exciting giggle.

Clothing might be optional, but bathing suits didn't seem to be
an option at this end of the lake. It was reserved for 15 to 17
years olds only. The law in this state said they could have sex
with each other but not with anyone older or younger. A place
like this had to be careful about the law, even if it didn't make
any sense. They called it a beach, but it was really packed dirt
with an opening through the trees to the water. People were
opening their cottages and had guests, so there were quite a few
kids. I looked at the girls and their breasts and skin and tried
not to get too much of an erection. When I got too frustrated, I
took my guitar and moved off a little way to a spot near a
spruce.

I sat on the rug, biding my time, drinking her wine
We talked until two and then she said, "It's time for bed"

She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath

And when I awoke I was alone, this bird had flown
So I lit a fire, isn't it good, Norwegian wood?

I liked slow songs, they were less work to play. I sang softly,
mostly to myself, while I played my guitar. I didn't have a great
voice, but it was good enough for harmony vocals. It didn't
matter, people already knew the words. A few of them came over to
listen. I noticed one girl looking over at me. She was with
someone. When I smiled at her she smiled back and turned away.
Someone said her name was Hart.

Later she and her companion held hands and walked into water.
They swam a little way along the shore until they were out of
sight of the beach, but I could still see them through the trees
from where I was sitting. They talked a bit, then started
kissing. I tried not to stare. After a while she put her arms
around his neck, and her boyfriend lifted her a little higher and
shifted her position. He had his back to me. She got more
enthusiastic. When she put her head next to his and stared over
his shoulder with a dreamy expression, I realized they must be
fucking. They were in the water almost up to their necks, but I
now noticed the slight rhythmic motion of her arms in her grip
around his neck. She opened her mouth slightly and squinted her
eyes, and then she came. I could hear a soft panting that matched
her rhythm. I don't know if she had seen me watching before, but
now she shifted her gaze and smiled at me. I was embarrassed to
be caught, and almost frowned and turned way. But I didn't. I
took a breath and smiled back. She held my eyes and her Mona Lisa
smile while she waited for her boyfriend to shoot inside her, and
smiled a little wider when he did. A tear glistened down to her
chin. Then she untangled our eyes and kissed him, and I was an
outsider again.

Fred

At first no one knew where Ali and Ross had disappeared to. Her
parents said she had asked them not to tell me where she was.
Chase didn't know but said Sam, the boy she had come to the party
with, was also gone. They been talking to him, so maybe they were
together. I couldn't find the fool either. I didn't understand
it. First Dean and Jake run off, and now everyone else leaves
without a word. Chase said Sam had had a fight with his brother,
and his sister would only say that Sam had decided to go away for
a few days to let things cool off. Ali had given me a funny look
before she left. I didn't know why my fight with Dean bothered
her so much. Ross had said it wasn't any of her business, but
that didn't seem to be true. I decided to see if I could find out
anything from the brother.

Sam

Now I understood why Verne didn't want me to go to the party with
Chase. He was afraid of what would happen. He didn't seem to mind
my sister having sex with her, but I guess I was different. It
didn't really make sense but it was how things worked. I knew he
would try to find out what had happened at the party at school
the next day, so I told my parents I had been invited up to Hour
Lake for the weekend and left as soon as I got home.

Ali

The screen porch across the front of Silver's cottage had a table
and some chairs. The large rounded leaves of a vine growing up
against the screen surrounded a full sized bed at the far end.
Sunlight coming through the leaves turned the bed a yellowish
green. The screens didn't go all the way to the floor, which made
the porch feel a little more intimate. The porch faced the lake,
but you couldn't see much of it through the trees this time of
year. The cottage wasn't very big inside. It had a kitchen area,
a table, another full sized bed, and a dresser. That was about
it. She was here alone. Her father trusted her because he knew
she didn't like boys. She said if Ross and I wanted to sleep
together, the fool could share her bed inside. She asked if he
was as harmless as he looked? I said no fool was harmless, but he
wouldn't try to rape her. He said yes he would, he was a most
foul rapist. She said then he would sleep in her bed, and when he
attacked her there would be one less fool in the world.

We sat at the table outside talked for a while. She told us she
was in love. I must have looked skeptical, because she said no,
really. She had never felt like this before. I asked who it was?
She said Phoebe, one of the full time residents here. But her
affection was not returned.

I don't know why you
Should want to hide
But I can't get through
My hands are tied
I won't want to stay
I don't have much to say
But I can't turn away
And you won't see me (You won't see me)
You won't see me (You won't see me)

Time after time
You refuse to even listen
I wouldn't mind
If I knew what I was missing

Ross said she was sorry and touched her hand briefly. I told the
fool to go outside and look for something for dinner. He said
like what? I said I didn't know, maybe some acorns, but don't
come back for at least an hour. He took a couple cookies and
left. Silver put her hand on Ross's and said thank you. They
gazed into each others eyes for a minute and then kissed. After a
few more minutes they moved to her leafy bower. I sipped my
lemonade and watched. Their hands slowly explored each others
bodies. Backs, shoulders, breasts, stomachs, hips, thighs,
crotch. They shed their clothing piecemeal. There wasn't much of
it to start with. Ross kept her panties on. Silver's nipples were
large and red, and her hips full. Ross's lips followed her hands
down Silver's body. Neck, nipples, navel, groin, vagina,
clitoris. Silver responded well. There were advantages to living
off by yourself. Still, Silver managed to keep fairly quiet in
spite of Ross's ministrations. Her writhings and soft groans
turned into panting just before she turned her head to look at me
and grunted out her orgasm.

Jake

I was dozing in the afternoon sun when I heard a voice say said
more, please, another song. I opened my eyes and saw Hart sitting
next to me. Her nipples were proud and dusky. I sat up and said
it would make her sad. She said she didn't mind a little sadness.
I said my voice was ragged, I couldn't please her. She said she
didn't want me to please her, she wanted me to sing. I said
alright, then I would. She said thank you.

I've got a word or two
To say about the things that you do
You're telling all those lies
About the good things that we can have
If we close our eyes

Do what you want to do
And go where you're going to
Think for yourself
Cos I won't be there with you

She said I played very well, and she liked my singing. I thanked
her, and she went back over and sat down next to her friend.
After a minute I put my guitar in its case, then got dressed and
slung it over my shoulder. Since it wouldn't get dark for a while
yet, I decided to take the long way back to the cottage. I needed
to relieve myself.

Sam

I had planned to stay with some people I knew, but when I got to
the lake I found their cottage still boarded up. They had said to
drop in anytime. If I had been thinking more clearly I might have
realized they didn't mean it literally. I wandered around the
lake and the woods for a while wondering what to do. I hadn't
been here before but sort of knew some of the kids from school.
The cottage I said I was staying at was off in the woods, and no
one had noticed yet that no one was there. I didn't have anywhere
else to go, but by the time I decided I should just leave, it was
too late to make it back to town that night. So I thought I would
sleep in my car and start back in the morning.

Jake

It took longer than I expected. The light was fading by the time
I reached the cottage.

Jake: A fool, a fool! I met a fool i' the forest,
A motley fool; a miserable world!
As I do live by food, I met a fool.

Dean: What fool is this?

Jake: O worthy fool! One that hath been a courtier,
And says, if ladies be but young and fair,
They have the gift to know it. And in his brain,
Which is as dry as the remainder biscuit
After a voyage, he hath strange places cramm'd
With observation, the which he vents
In mangled forms. O that I were a fool!
I am ambitious for a motley coat.

Dean: Thou shalt have one.

Jake: It is my only suit.
Invest me in my motley; give me leave
To speak my mind, and I will through and through
Cleanse the foul body of the infected world,
If they will patiently receive my medicine.

Dean: Fie on thee! I can tell what thou wouldst do.

Jake: What, for a counter, would I do but good?

Dean: Most mischievous foul sin, in chiding sin.
For thou thyself hast been a libertine,
      As sensual as the brutish sting itself;
And all the embossed sores and headed evils,
That thou with license of free foot hast caught,
Wouldst thou disgorge into the general world.

He stopped and asked what the fool was doing here? I said he told
me he had come with two girls from Fred's party. Dean said that
sounded just like the fool. Girls always wanted to mother him
until he went into his dirty old man act. I asked if he knew
there was some idiot sleeping in his car, over by one of the
cottages off in the woods? He said where? So after he got a
flashlight and I showed him. Dean knocked on the car window. The
boy sat up and looked resigned. He got out and explained he had
planned to visit friends but they weren't here. He would leave in
the morning. He was sorry for causing trouble. Dean asked how he
knew the Fosters, and the boy told him how he'd gotten to know
one of the boys in church school. Then Dean said he didn't have
to leave. He could stay with us if he wanted to. He said he
didn't understand. Dean said not everyone would fit in here, but
there was always room for a friend. People here looked out for
each other. He didn't look like he believed us, but Dean said
really, it was okay. So he thanked us and we all got in his car.
He said his name was Sam.

In the beginning I misunderstood
But now I've got it, the word is good

Say the word and you'll be free
Say the word and be like me
Say the word I'm thinking of
Have you heard the word is love?
It's so fine, it's sunshine
It's the word, love

When we got back to the cottage we finished the sausage and
pepper pizza Sam had stopped for on his way here. I asked him if
he could play that guitar of his? He said a little, so he and I
and Dean spent some time jamming. It turned out he played more
than a little, and he was the brother of Chase's friend Jenny.

Fred

Sam's brother said he didn't know where Sam was. They had had a
fight about Chase, and his parents wouldn't tell him where Sam
was hiding. I said if he wanted to fight with Chase's boyfriends,
I could give him a list. He said what? I said she went out with a
few different boys. It wasn't a big secret. He said oh. Maybe he
should have asked her if she was seeing anyone else, or maybe it
was just as well that he hadn't. I said I wasn't looking for Sam.
I was looking for Ali, who might be with him. They had been
talking to each other at my party. I asked him to let me know if
he found out anything, or at least ask Ali to call me. He said he
would, but I didn't know whether to believe him.

Sam

I love you, I love you, I love you
That's all I want to say
Until I find a way
I will say the only words I know that
You'll understand

Michelle, ma belle
These are words that go together well
My Michelle

I need to, I need to, I need to
I need to make you see
Oh, what you mean to me
Until I do I'm hoping you will
Know what I mean

I couldn't stop thinking of Ross. I spent the morning out in the
woods playing love songs and posting silly verses on hemlocks and
sycamores.

Fool

I was out walking with Silver. She asked me how I liked it at the
lake?

Fool: Truly, shepherd, in respect of itself, it is a good
life; but in respect that it is a shepherd's life,
it is naught. In respect that it is solitary, I
like it very well; but in respect that it is
private, it is a very vile life. Now, in respect it
is in the fields, it pleaseth me well; but in
respect it is not in the court, it is tedious. As
      is it a spare life, look you, it fits my humour well;
but as there is no more plenty in it, it goes much
against my stomach. Hast any philosophy in thee, shepherd?

Silv: No more but that I know the more one sickens the
worse at ease he is; and that he that wants money,
      means and content is without three good friends;
that the property of rain is to wet and fire to
burn; that good pasture makes fat sheep, and that a
great cause of the night is lack of the sun; that
he that hath learned no wit by nature nor art may
complain of good breeding or comes of a very dull kindred.

Fool: Such a one is a natural philosopher. Wast ever in
      court, shepherd?

Silv: No, truly.

Fool: Then thou art damned.

Silv: Nay, I hope.

Fool: Truly, thou art damned like an ill-roasted egg, all
      on one side.

I didn't make sense, but she didn't expect me to. We saw Ross
coming toward us reading something.

Ross: From the east to western Ind,
      No jewel is like Rosalind.
Her worth, being mounted on the wind,
Through all the world bears Rosalind.
      All the pictures fairest lined
      Are but black to Rosalind.
Let no fair be kept in mind
      But the fair of Rosalind.

Fool: I'll rhyme you so eight years together, dinners and
suppers and sleeping-hours excepted: it is the
      right butter-women's rank to market.

Ross: Peace, you dull fool! I found them on a tree.

Fool: Truly, the tree yields bad fruit.

Now we saw Ali also reading something. Ross said she would like
to talk to her alone.

Fool: Come, shepherd, let us make an honourable retreat;
though not with bag and baggage, yet with scrip and
      scrippage.

Ali

I came up to my coz and asked if she had heard these verses?

Ross: O, yes, I heard them all, and more too; for some of
them had in them more feet than the verses would bear.

Ali: That's no matter: the feet might bear the verses.

Ross: Ay, but the feet were lame and could not bear
themselves without the verse and therefore stood
      lamely in the verse.

Ali: But didst thou hear without wondering how thy name
should be hanged and carved upon these trees?

Ross: I was seven of the nine days out of the wonder
before you came; for look here what I found on a
      palm-tree. I was never so be-rhymed since
Pythagoras' time, that I was an Irish rat, which I
      can hardly remember.

Ali: Trow you who hath done this?

Ross: Is it a man?

Ali: And a chain, that you once wore, about his neck.
      Change you colour?

Ross: I prithee, who?

I said it was young Sam, who had conquered Chase and her both at
the same time. She said Sam? I said Sam. She ask where was he?
What was he doing here? When would I see him again? I said I
found him under a tree, like a dropped acorn. Thinking and
scribbling. And here he comes now. So we stepped off the path and
listened.

Jake: I thank you for your company; but, good faith, I had
as lief have been myself alone.

Sam: And so had I; but yet, for fashion sake, I thank you
      too for your society.

Jake: God buy you! Let's meet as little as we can.

Sam: I do desire we may be better strangers.

Jake: I pray you mar no more trees with writing
      love songs in their barks.

Sam: I pray you mar no more of my verses with reading
      them ill-favouredly.

Jake: Rosalind is your love's name?

Sam: Yes, just.

Jake: I do not like her name.

Sam: There was no thought of pleasing you when she was
      christened.

After Jake left, Ross went up behind Sam and said hello. He
turned around and fainted. Ross squawked and grabbed him. They
both ended up on the ground with her on top. It figured. I ran
over but they seemed to be okay. My coz started giggling. Sam
asked what she was doing here? She said she had as much right to
be here as he did. He said yes, of course, hello. She said she
and I were staying at a friend's cottage off in the woods. He
thought for a second and asked if the fool was staying there too.
She said yes. He said ah. She got off of him. They sat up, and I
sat down next to Ross. She took my hand. I looked at her and
wondered what was going on. She leaned forward and gave me a
quick kiss. Sam wobbled slightly and I asked if he was okay? He
said yes, he was just a little dizzy. He guessed he wasn't quite
recovered from the shock of seeing us. He said he was still
embarrassed about the party. Ross said Chase could be self
centered and inconsiderate. She was a strong person, but she
hadn't found the gentleness within that strength. Ross said that
relationships were often difficult and confusing. She said she
had an old religious uncle who had been disappointed in love.

Ross: I have heard him read many lectures against it, and
I thank God I am not a woman to be touched with so
many giddy offences, as he hath generally taxed their
      whole sex withal.

Sam: Can you remember any of the principal evils that he
laid to the charge of women?

Ross: There were none principal. They were all like one
another as halfpence are, every one fault seeming
monstrous till his fellow-fault came to match it.

Sam: I prithee recount some of them.

Ross: No, I will not cast away my physic but on those that
are sick. There is a man haunts the forest that
abuses our young plants with carving 'Rosalind' on
their barks; hangs odes upon hawthorns and elegies
on brambles; all, forsooth, deifying the name of
Rosalind. If I could meet that fancy-monger, I would
give him some good counsel, for he seems to have the
      quotidian of love upon him.

Sam: I am he that is so love-shaked. I pray you tell me
      your remedy.

Ross: There is none of my uncle's marks upon you. He
taught me how to know a man in love; in which cage
of rushes I am sure you are not prisoner.

Sam: What were his marks?

Ross: A lean cheek, which you have not; a blue eye and
sunken, which you have not; an unquestionable
spirit, which you have not; a beard neglected,
which you have not. But I pardon you for that, for
simply your having in beard is a younger brother's
revenue. Then your hose should be ungartered, your
bonnet unbanded, your sleeve unbuttoned, your shoe
untied, and every thing about you demonstrating a
careless desolation. But you are no such man: you
are rather point-device in your accoutrements, as
loving yourself than seeming the lover of any other.

Sam said he hadn't actually defaced any trees. Ross said she had
been speaking figuratively. And he said he was going to collect
all his notes when he was done, or at least those that were still
there. He had been trying to write a song and didn't have a
bulletin board. He wouldn't have used her name if he had known
she liked girls. She said she didn't mind. She wasn't using it.
But was he as much in love as his verses said? He said more so.
He wasn't a very good lyricist.

Ross said falling in love was a form of insanity. You feel a
little closeness to someone and start imagining all sorts of
things. It was caused by hormones, frustration and loneliness.
The cure was getting to know the real person. You might end up
liking her. But most people preferred their fantasies. Sam asked
if his case was hopeless? How could he get to know her if she
didn't like boys? She said there might be a way. She would
pretend to date him if he pretended to be a girl. He asked how?
Put on a dress? She asked if he saw any girls in dresses around
here? He said um, no. She said gender had more to do with the
mind than the body. He could be a girl by being assertive without
being aggressive. Half of that, and the rest of everything else,
was holding his shoulders in. He said what?

She said a man moves and walks like a gorilla, in an aggressive
stance with his shoulders spread and his arms rounded, trying to
take up as much space as possible. A woman holds her shoulders
in, not forward or up, and her arms closer to her body. All the
gestures an mannerisms thought of as feminine resulted from this.
It changes the posture of the body and even controls the way the
hips move. He shouldn't hold them in too much or he would look
like a boy who was gay rather than like a girl. Sam looked
dubious, so she asked him to try it. He did. She told him not to
stiffen up, to let the effect flow through his whole body. He
walked around a little, and this what the fuck is happening
expression came over his face. I was surprised too. Ross said
good. Don't try it outside at night unless he was with a group of
people. He might get raped. We told him we were staying with
Silver and arranged to meet the next day. He said he was staying
with Dean. Before he left Ross leaned forward and gave him a
quick kiss. He seemed bemused.

Fool

What do you say to a naked lady? I knew the place was clothing
optional, but everybody I had seen so far had exercised that
option. Except indoors at night. Until now. I said hello. She
smiled and said hi, how are you? The only things she had with her
were the towel in her hand and the elastic that kept her hair off
her shoulders. She was even barefoot. She had an even tan,
lightly trimmed hair, and no tattoos or piercings. Her nipples
were hard and brown. I thought one of her breasts looked slightly
larger than the other, but I might have been mistaken. They were
both good sized and matched the curve of her hips. She looked
strong. I told her I was staying with Silver, and she said her
name was Drew. She said she was surprised Silver let me stay with
her. She didn't usually like boys. I said it just sort of
happened. I was with two girls. She said ah and asked my name. I
said I was the fool. It was what people called me. She said
really? Was that how I generally introduced myself? I said I
didn't generally introduce myself. People heard about me or met
me through someone else.

She wanted to know my real name. I said I didn't like it. She
wanted to know it anyway. How could I refuse? I said it was
Bonker. She humphed and said she could see why I didn't like it.
She thought it wasn't so bad, or at least not much worse than
fool. Did I mind if she used it? I said um, okay, if no one else
was around. She said she was on her way home for dinner. She was
having feta, tomatoes and cucumbers. Would I like to join her? I
said yes.

Drew sliced up the vegetables and we sat down. I was surprised
how good it was and told her I liked it. She said it would be
better when local tomatoes came into season. I asked where her
parents were? She said they lived nearby and had mostly let her
stay at the cottage with a roommate since she had turned sixteen.
They thought that was old enough for someone to be on her own if
she wanted to be and could handle it. She did and the two of them
could. I said she was lucky. Most parents weren't that trusting.
She said it was this place. People here looked out for each
other, and she had learned to be responsible.

After dinner she said she would be more comfortable if I took off
my clothes. It was sort of strange being the only one naked,
especially since we had just met. I said I could understand that.
But how did I know she wasn't trying to seduce me? She said I
didn't. And she was. So I kissed her, after pausing to do as she
had asked. She pulled me over to the bed and down next to her. I
moved down to her breasts and sucked them alternately. She said
yes, they really were different sizes, but she wore regular bras
without a problem. I asked if she wasn't afraid going naked would
make them sag? She said it probably would, but they would anyway
and she would have them fixed when they did. She thought she
would have them make the other breast the bigger one. I asked if
that was fair? Would she have sisters take turns being the oldest
if she could? She said possibly. People took turns being children
and then parents. Evil Ways by Santana came up on the stereo. I
moved back up and kissed her some more. She moved down and
started sucking on me. She held my balls in a firm grip while her
tongue moved around on my penis. I appreciated her art. She
slowed down so I wouldn't come too soon. Then she sped up and I
did. After she made sure she got everything, I said I was sorry
for disappointing her. She said I hadn't, yet, and she didn't
think I would. It turned out she was right. Later on her roommate
got back and climbed into bed with us. Maybe she had gotten back
earlier and I hadn't heard her. Drew said this was Phoebe. I said
hello, it was nice to meet her, and we went back to sleep.

Ali

I get high when I see you go by
My oh my
When you sigh, my, my inside just flies
Butterflies
Why am I so shy when I'm beside you?

It's only love and that is all
Why should I feel the way I do?
It's only love, and that is all
But it's so hard loving you

Ross and I were sitting at the table on Silver's porch, and she
was distressed that Sam hadn't shown up when he said he would.
She said he was not as in love as he thought he was. He was a
moonish youth. I said he was young and inconsiderate. My coz said
she liked that he was the same age as her. I said it was a fine
age. And, she said, he was a very polite young man. I said the
soul of courtesy. But why, she asked, did he say he would be here
this morning, and not come? I didn't say anything. She said he
could be thoughtless and annoying. He was a gentle person, but he
needed to find the strength within that gentleness. I said you
can't change who someone is. She said she didn't want to change
him, she just wanted to see if there was something else in there.
I said she wanted to see something else in her. She said that
too.

Phoebe came over, and Silver invited us inside for strawberries,
yogurt and honey. Silver tried to talk to Phoebe for a while but
didn't get much response. So Ross chimed in with a comment.
Phoebe turned to look at her. She didn't look away. Ross said
drat. She said no, not me you idiot, Silver, look, over there.
Phoebe reached out and touched her hand. Ross said drat again.

Is there anybody going to listen to my story
All about the girl who came to stay?
She's the kind of girl you want so much
It makes you sorry
Still, you don't regret a single day
Ah, gir-ir'r'rl (deep breath)
Gir-gir'r'rl

She's the kind of girl who puts you down
When friends are there, you feel a fool
When you say she's looking good
She acts as if it's understood
She's coo-ool, oo-oo, oo-oo, oo-oo
Gir-ir'r'rl (deep breath)
Gir-gir'r'rl

Silver said please, go for it. It was better to love vicariously
than not at all. I said what if Sam shows up? Ross said he would
have to wait his turn. Phoebe said he? You're seeing a boy? Ross
said he was playing the part of a girl. It was complicated. Then
she leaned forward and gave her a quick kiss. Phoebe stood up and
led her over to the bed. She took off her shirt and bra, lay
down, looked up at Ross, and unbuttoned her shorts. Phoebe's
nipples were small and dark. Ross lay down next to her and kissed
her. She responded well. Ross's hands roamed over her back and
sides as they kissed, massaging what they touched. When one hand
dipped into the front of her shorts, Phoebe rolled onto her back
with Ross following. I could see the front of Phoebe's shorts
moving as Ross's hand worked. Phoebe's hips moved in response. I
was getting excited. I glanced over at Silver. He eyes were
locked on the two girls on the bed. Phoebe's groans got louder
and turned into gasps as her orgasm exploded. It seemed to last
forever but was probably not much longer than usual. After Ross
took her hand out of Phoebe's shorts, she beckoned Silver over to
the bed. With hand and head signals she got her to climb over the
two of them and lie down on the other side of Phoebe. Silver
kissed the side of her neck. When Ross disengaged, Phoebe turned
toward Silver and started kissing her. Ross stood up and
straightened her clothing. I put away the food and joined Ross on
the porch. I knew Silver wouldn't take much more advantage than
she already had. She would just let Phoebe do whatever she
wanted.

Jake

Ali thought I looked sad when I stopped by to visit her and Ross.
We sat at the table on he porch.

Ross: They say you are a melancholy fellow.

Jake: I am so. I do love it better than laughing.

Ross: Those that are in extremity of either are abominable
fellows, and betray themselves to every modern
      censure worse than drunkards.

Jake: Why, 'tis good to be sad and say nothing.

Ross: Why then, 'tis good to be a post.

Jake: I have neither the scholar's melancholy, which is
      emulation; nor the musician's, which is fantastical;
nor the courtier's, which is proud; nor the
soldier's, which is ambitious; nor the lawyer's,
which is politic; nor the lady's, which is nice; nor
the lover's, which is all these: but it is a
melancholy of mine own, compounded of many simples,
      extracted from many objects.

Ross asked what was it this time? I asked why it had to be
anything? I just liked wandering around in the woods
contemplating how stupid, insane and evil the world was. Ali said
it must be a girl. I said girls were just as evil and stupid as
anything else. Then Sam showed up, and I got up to leave. Ross
said to look out for oak trees.

Sam

I held my shoulders in and said hello. Ross said what was this? I
was late. I sat down and said I came within a hour of my promise.
She said I didn't act like someone in love. I said I was sorry.
She said she might as well be seeing a snail. I said a snail? She
said a snail was always home. And besides, they were
hermaphrodites. They never had to worry about gender. Then she
asked what I would say to her if we were out somewhere? I said I
would kiss her before I said anything. She said I should talk
first and kiss when I ran out of things to say. I asked what if
she wouldn't kiss me? She said that would give me something else
to talk about. I asked how I could run out if I loved her? She
said I had before. What would I do if she wouldn't have me? I
said I would die. She said no one in all of history had ever died
of love.

Ross: Leander, he would have lived many a fair
year, though Hero had turned nun, if it had not been
for a hot midsummer night; for, good youth, he went
but forth to wash him in the Hellespont, and being
taken with the cramp, was drowned; and the foolish
coroners of that age found it was 'Hero of Sestos.'
But these are all lies. Men have died from time to
time, and worms have eaten them, but not for love.

Sam: I would not have my right Rosalind of this mind,
for I protest her frown might kill me.

Ross: By this hand, it will not kill a fly. But come, now
I will be your Rosalind in a more coming-on
disposition, and ask me what you will. I will grant
      it.

Sam: Then love me, Rosalind.

Ross: Yes, faith, will I, Fridays and Saturdays and all.

Sam: And wilt thou have me?

Ross: Ay, and twenty such.

Sam: What sayest thou?

Ross: Are you not good?

Sam: I hope so.

Ross: Why then, can one desire too much of a good thing?

Ross said Ali must play the priest and marry us. I said yes,
please. Ali said she couldn't do that. Ross said go ahead, say
the words. Will you Sam. So we all stood up and Ross took my
hand. Ali said would I, Sam, have to wife this Ross? I said I
would. Ross asked me when? I said as soon as Ali could marry us.
Then, she said, I must say the words. I did. I said I took her,
Ross, for wife. She said she might ask from whom, but that she
did take me, Sam, for wife. She didn't wait for Ali. And now we
had to consummate the marriage. I said it was only a pretend
marriage. She said it would only be a pretend consummation. She
promptly dropped all her clothes on the floor and giggled. She
told me to take off mine too. Well, the place was clothing
optional. So I did, mostly. Ross had me leave my boxers on. Her
nipples were puffy and light, her eyes a bluish gray, and she had
a few light brown freckles in various places. She put her arms
around me and kissed me. My erection poked her in the stomach,
and she marched me backward toward the bed. Ali sat down at the
table.

Ross laid me down under the green leaves. Her hand explored my
chest, clavicle, ribs and belly as we continued to kiss. I felt
her breasts and crotch pressed into my side. After a little while
she climbed between my legs and started grinding her pudendum
against my cloth encased penis. I pushed back at her like a girl.
I didn't understand what was going on. It felt like I was
watching someone else. What I did at Fred's party might have
seemed sudden, but I had been sleeping in the same room with
Chase and watching her have sex for months. Was the idea of
privacy obsolete? Books and movies had turned sex into something
you watched instead of something you did. Or maybe it was just a
different way for friends to share sex. Ali was watching us. She
was biting her lip but not playing with herself. I was getting
more excited as Ross rubbed against me. I tried to hold out, but
before too long I gasped and came in my shorts. This excited
Ross. She kept going, and I was still hard when she grunted out
her orgasm and collapsed on top of me.

Jake

Hart was by herself at the beach, so I said hello and put my
towel down next to hers. We talked a bit. I told her I was
staying with Dean and about finding Sam. She said her boyfriend
was staying with her and her parents. I expressed surprise and
asked how she had worked that? She said they knew the two of them
were having sex and so had agreed there was no harm in having him
here. It was a little awkward. Her bed was in the living area, so
her mother had to knock on her own bedroom door before she came
out to the bathroom at night. She had not caught them in the
middle of something, so she thought her mother must listen and
wait until things were quiet. She didn't know which was more
embarrassing, her parents hearing her orgasms, or hearing theirs
afterward. But it was worth it. I noticed her glancing at my
growing erection as she told her story but pretended I didn't. It
wasn't anything she hadn't seen before. The kids around us
pretended to mind their own business.

She offered to put sunblock on my back, so I lay down on my
stomach. I heard her squeeze some lotion onto her hand and felt
her smooth it on my upper back, shoulders and neck. She got some
more and did my middle back and ribs. I heard the plastic bottle
wheeze again and felt her massage my lower back and the halfway
down my buttocks. She dabbed some on her arms and breasts and
thighs then asked me to do her back. I hesitated for a moment,
but then sat up and explored her shoulder blades and spine and
part of her pelvis. She thanked me.

I woke up from my doze when Hart asked if I would go swimming
with her? The lake was formed by an earthen dam near the
cottages. A rock face rose on the far shore. It was deep and
fairly wide, so it wasn't safe to swim alone. The water was cold
and clear. I was a strong swimmer, but she was stronger. I
squinted into the black nothingness of the water with each
stroke. We climbed out on the rocks on the other side to rest,
and after a few minutes I was ready to start back. She angled
away from the beach, and we reached shallow water under some
trees. She turned around and kissed me. We put our arms around
each other, and I explored farther down her buttocks. The
exercise had warmed us up. After a few minutes I asked what about
her boyfriend? She said what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
And besides, she thought he was cheating on her. She pulled
herself up onto my hips and I guided myself into her. It took a
couple tries.

I'm looking through you, where did you go?
I thought I knew you, what did I know?
You don't look different, but you have changed
I'm looking through you, you're not the same

Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right?
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight

You're thinking of me, the same old way
You were above me, but not today
The only difference is you're down there
I'm looking through you, and you're nowhere

I don't know how she managed to stay slippery in all that water
and didn't ask. I felt our backs arching and her arms pulling
against my neck as we drove ourselves into each other. We rested
at the bottom of each stroke, pulled apart, and pushed together.
Our lips sucked and our tongues flirted. The water supported her
weight, we just had to hold ourselves together. She had her legs
crossed behind me and I felt her ankle pressed into the pivot
point at the top of my pelvis. I pulled the bottom of her
buttocks toward me and felt her muscles working. We gradually
increased our speed. She leaned back and ground her clitoris
against me. A soft panting matched her movements, and she grunted
quietly a few times when she came. She focused her eyes on me and
pulled herself up against me. I stared out across the lake over
her shoulder. I felt the smile against my cheek widen when I
grunted out my own orgasm and shot her full of cum.

Ali

Even though most of the cottages didn't have phones, the whole
area had wi-fi.

If the scorn of your bright eyne
Have power to raise such love in mine,
Alack, in me what strange effect
Would they work in mild aspect!
Whiles you chid me, I did love;
How then might your prayers move!
He that brings this love to thee
Little knows this love in me;
And by him seal up thy mind,
Whether that thy youth and kind
Will the faithful offer take
Of me and all that I can make,
Or else by him my love deny,
And then I'll study how to die.

Wilt thou love such a woman? What, to make thee an
instrument and play false strains upon thee! Not to
be endured! Say this to her: that if she love me, I
charge her to love thee; if she will not, I will
never have her unless thou entreat for her.

Sweet Phebe, do not scorn me; do not, Phebe!
Say that you love me not, but say not so
In bitterness. Sweet Phebe, pardon me:
I am but as a guiltless messenger.

Ross and I were on the porch waiting for Sam again, she on the
bed reading and me at the table, when a boy came up to the door
and asked if this was Silver's cottage? I said it was. He came in
and asked was I Ross? Ross sat up and said she was. He said he
was Verne, Sam's brother. Sam had asked him to come and tell her
that he had gone to talk to Chase. I saw Ross stiffen and her
eyebrows lower slightly. Verne apparently didn't notice. He said
that Sam had also asked him to give her this, and he held up a
thin silver chain. I watched the color drain from my coz. Her
chin started to tremble and her eyes glistened. A tear slid down
to her chin. I went over and sat down next to her and put my arm
around her. She started sobbing, and turned and buried her head
in my shoulder. I held her and nuzzled her hair. I felt her
shaking in my arms. Verne stood there helplessly. Silver came out
to see what was going on. She took one look at Ross and turned to
Verne with murder in her eyes. She drew a deep breath and I
yelled Silver, no! She spun toward me. I shrank back but frowned
and shook my head. I thought she was going to explode like a
pressure cooker with a faulty valve, but she managed to control
herself. I was impressed. She turned back to Verne and just
glowered. He said no, we didn't understand. I growled what didn't
we understand? He said Sam treasured the silver chain that Ross
had given him. He had bought her another one to replace it. When
Verne had asked him to talk to Chase, Sam had asked him to give
it to her as an apology for being late. Verne said he would have
been here earlier, but he had gotten lost.

Sam

People treat beautiful girls like royalty. The boys Chase went
out with let her have what ever she wanted. And whom. It just
worked better. But Verne hadn't gotten the message, maybe because
they didn't actually go out, and she didn't take it well. She got
mad at him when she found out he had tried to stop me from going
out with her. She was mad at me for not fucking her. And she got
mad at Jenny for being part of the conspiracy, even though she
wasn't. Jenny freaked out when Chase broke up with her. They had
been best friends forever and lovers for more than a year. I had
turned off my phone, and Hour Lake had no reception. When Verne
had said he wanted to apologize to me, my parents told him where
I was. So he drove up and told me what had happened. He asked me
to fix things, and said he hadn't known about Chase's other
lovers. It was a big school, and kids mostly gossiped about girls
in their own class. I drove down to the village to get reception
and called Chase. I ended up telling her I would fuck her if it
was okay with Ross. Not in those words, but we both knew what we
meant. She seemed to think it would be. Then I called Jenny and
told her I had fixed things with Chase. She said Fred had called
her looking for me. He was worried about Ali. So I called him too
and said she was okay. We would all be back that night and he
could talk to her tomorrow. He sounded relieved.

Ali

When Ross had recovered somewhat, she lifted up her head and
kissed me. I kissed her back. Silver watched us and Verne stared.
Then Silver and I took her inside and put her to bed. Silver got
in with her. I told my coz I was sorry I got so upset about Sam.
She said it must have been the shock. I agreed and said I didn't
want Verne to worry. I should go tell him I was okay. She asked
if I was sure I was? I said I thought I would be. She said I
should take better care of myself. She shouldn't have to do it
all the time. I told her to get some rest and left her muttering
about hysterical females. I went back outside and sat down with
Verne. He said he was sorry. Sam hadn't told him how much Ross
cared about him. I said he didn't know, and asked Verne not to
tell him. Ross would when she was ready. Verne said alright and
explained about Chase and Sam. Our hands touched when he gave me
the chain. I looked at him and waited for him to pull his hand
away. Then I said the next one who blinked had to kiss the other
one. He did, but I think he cheated.

Verne leaned across the corner of the table and kissed me. After
several minutes I stopped and put the chain away. Then I went
into the kitchen and got the strawberry pieces. I sat down and
fed some of them to him one by one, and he fed some to me. It was
a kind of ceremony. Food and rituals have magic. Then I led him
over to the bed and took off my shirt and bra. I lay back and he
sucked on my breast. He cradled it in his hand, and stroked the
erect nipple of my other breast with the thumb of his other hand.
My chest was on fire, and I rocked my hips to feel the sensation
of my tight pants against my crotch. His mouth and tongue moved
back and forth between my breasts, and when one hand wandered
down my stomach, I undid my pants. His hand moved inside and
under my panties. I started moaning when it found my wetness, and
he moved up and kissed me some more. I put my arms around him and
held on. I broke the kiss when I felt the powers moving inside me
and started to pant. They gathered and surged and exploded
through my convulsing body. He was a little surprised, and I
wondered how powerful Chase's orgasms got. The ones at the party
had seemed pretty good.

I undid his pants and had him take them off. He could keep his
shirt on. If a couple shared pajamas I thought maybe the girl
should keep the pants and the boy should wear the top. It would
look sexier and there were ways it could work. Verne was on his
back this time. I slid my hand down and caressed his balls while
we kissed. Oh yes, this was good. I liked the way they slipped
from side to side when I squeezed them. I moved up and stroked
his penis. Most of what had come out earlier had disappeared with
his briefs, but there was more. I spread it around, then moved
down to taste it. I liked the slimy feel in my mouth. I pumped
him for more and noted his inarticulate commentary. Words would
have been distracting. He started posting, taking one stroke for
every two of mine.

Some time later I got tired of dribs and drabs and went after the
mother load. I increased my speed and the pressure of my tongue.
He followed. He was breathing from his hips, their motion forcing
enough air into his lungs even with his increased need. That was
it, keep going, almost there, and, yes. He spurted into my mouth
and, oh my god, just kept coming. Umph, ah, umm. I felt like a
chipmunk by the time he was done. I could always count on Chase
to find the good ones. He fell back panting. I savored his
offering for a while, then started swallowing it slowly. He
watched me, it was instinctual. Sex wasn't just about seeing and
touching and orgasms, even though most people thought it was. It
was about putting cum inside a female and keeping it there. I got
goosebumps as it slithered down my throat, and was a little sad
when I had it all in my stomach. But I liked the idea of it
working its way through my belly. It might take two or three
days. That was the problem with boys. Everything they gave you
eventually came back out again. I wished I could be like a bat
and store it for future use. Or maybe I should do like Ross and
be part boy myself. Or like Chase and work on the logistics of
resupply.

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Fool

I traced the bottom of Drew's ribs and asked if she and Phoebe
were lovers? She said sometimes. I asked were they lovers now?
She said no. Sort of. It depended on how broadly I wanted to
define now. Or what I meant by lovers. I thought about it. I
wasn't going to ask her what they did and how often. I didn't
want to know and it assumed some sort of schedule, which they
didn't seem to have. I asked if she was seeing any boys? She said
not right now. She had an on again off again relationship with
one. I asked if she loved him? She said yes, of course she did.
She loved me too, and Phoebe. And she didn't mean just as
friends. She was mostly in love with me right now, since we had
just met, but that would pass. She asked if I wasn't still in
love with all the girls I had ever liked, even the ones I also
hated? I said the possibility had never occurred to me. I hadn't
ever thought about it. She said do. So I did. But not for very
long. I said yes, I was in love with all of them. She said good,
that was why she married me. I felt myself start to panic. I
tried to say married? but it came out as more of a squeak. She
said jumping the broom, crossing the threshold, wearing a ring.
They were all fairly explicit representations of sex. If two
people used sex to create an emotional bond, that bond could not
be broken. They were in some sense married. That was closer to
the truth than the legal or the religious definition. I said I
didn't know if I was ready for all this. She reached down and
said I felt pretty ready, and more excited by the idea than
scared. I had to admit that yes, I did. We didn't say anything
for a while after that.

Sam

Verne put on his pants when I showed up. Ali said hello and went
inside. She didn't bother to put on her shirt. Her nipples were
sweet and lovely. We sat at the table and I said just like that?
Verne said just like that. She and Ross had been upset about my
not being here at first, and then it just happened. He hoped I
didn't mind. We hadn't always gotten along, and now here he was
moving in on my friend. I said I had no problem with it. Did he
mind if I went out with Ali? He looked a little puzzled and asked
what about Ross? I said it seemed like the two of them were
always together. Going out with Ross was sort of like going out
with both of them. He said he was okay with whatever worked for
Ali. He was just glad she liked him. Ross came out and said hello
to me and hello, brother, to Verne. He said hello, cousin, to her
and asked us to say goodbye to Ali for him. Then he left.

Ross went over and got the chain and put it on. She thanked me
for it, then sat down and asked how things were with Chase? I
said I had straightened them out. She still wanted to have sex
with me if it was okay with her. Ross said fine, as long as I
could still straighten out for her. I said I thought I was
supposed to be a girl? She said yes, she had just meant as long
as I still got excited about her. I said I did. She asked if
Verne had told me how upset Ali had gotten about my not being
here? I said yes, and more than that. She said oh, how they had
looked at each other and fallen into bed? It was very sudden. I
said speaking of sudden, Dean and Jake and I had been practicing
together and had decided to put on a concert out on the lawn by
the cottages that afternoon, as an end of the weekend
celebration. I hoped Ali and her and Silver would be there. She
said they would.

Someone else knocked and came in. She said she was mad at Ross
for showing her note to Silver. Ross said this was Phoebe, and
she wasn't going to keep secrets from Silver. Ross was her friend
and her guest. Silver came out to see what was going on. Ross
said if Phoebe didn't like her, she should like Silver. She was
in love with Phoebe. Phoebe turned to Silver and asked her to
tell Ross what it was to be in love. Silver said it was to feel
sad and lost, as she did for Phoebe. Phoebe said as she did for
Ross. I said as I did for Ross. Ross said right. Silver said it
was to feel passion and desire, like you would do anything, as
she would for Phoebe. Phoebe said as she would for Ross. I said
as I would for Ross. Ross said stop this. It was like the howling
of Irish wolves against the moon. She could fix everything, but
we weren't going to like it. All of us stared at her. She took a
deep breath and said she wasn't really a lesbian. She was
bisexual. Phoebe and I said what? Silver said it figured. Ross
said she was sorry she had lied. It had seemed like a good idea
at the time. She asked Phoebe if she could understand Silver's
obsession now and not feel so threatened by it? She told me she
loved me and hoped I still liked her. She said she cared about
Silver but had abused her hospitality. She hoped Silver could
forgive her. Silver and Phoebe looked at her. Then they looked at
each other. Phoebe said maybe they could try to work things out.
Silver said maybe they could.

Ross said good. Now that everything was settled, she wanted me
and Verne to come over for dinner after my concert. She wanted
Phoebe and Drew and the fool to come too. And she wanted Silver
here. Did she mind her and Ali having it at her cottage? Silver
said um, alright. Ross said good again, now she just had to tell
Ali what they were doing.

It's been a long time
Now I'm coming back home
I've been away now
Oh how, I've been alone

Wait till I come back to your side
We'll forget the tears we've cried

But if your heart breaks
Don't wait, turn me away
And if your heart's strong
Hold on, I won't delay

Fool

And.

Fool: Uh, uh, mm, mm!

Drew: Oh, oh, ah, oo, oo!

Yes.

Ali

I spent the time before the concert cutting up vegetables. We had
brought potatoes, onions, carrots, cauliflower, tomatoes,
chickpeas and spices, and planned to make curry. Ross spent the
time running around doing other stuff. She and Silver moved the
table from the porch inside to make one table long enough for all
of us. Ross moved chairs outside so people could sit on the porch
until the food was ready, and set the table. She started packing
the car, since we would have to leave after dinner. The fool
showed up to get his bodhran, a 14 by 4 inch Irish frame drum
played with a double headed tipper. Jake had asked him sit in
even though he hadn't been to the rehearsals. He said it was a
good thing he was a fool. I said hadn't he played the songs with
Dean's band? He said yes, but on his drum set and with different
arrangements. Then we all showered and got dressed for the
concert. It was warm and it had been a busy day. The fool's bit
about trying to pretend not to be shocked to see us naked was
getting old, even though he had changed it from broad to slightly
more subtle humor. But I guess he needed the practice. His colors
were as bright as usual. We walked over together and found Phoebe
and Drew. Some people had brought chairs to sit in back, but most
of us had brought blankets or towels.

Jake: Good my lord, bid him welcome: this is the
motley-minded gentleman that I have so often met in
the forest. He hath been a courtier, he swears.

Fool: If any man doubt that, let him put me to my
purgation. I have trod a measure; I have flattered
a lady; I have been politic with my friend, smooth
with mine enemy; I have undone three tailors; I have
had four quarrels, and like to have fought one.

Jake: And how was that ta'en up?

Fool: Faith, we met, and found the quarrel was upon the
      seventh cause.

Jake: How seventh cause? Good my lord, like this fellow.

Dean: I like him very well.

Fool: God 'ild you, sir; I desire you of the like. I
press in here, sir, amongst the rest of the country
copulatives, to swear and to forswear, according as
marriage binds and blood breaks. A poor virgin,
sir, an ill-favoured thing, sir, but mine own. A poor
humour of mine, sir, to take that that no man else
will. Rich honesty dwells like a miser, sir, in a
poor house, as your pearl in your foul oyster.

Drew hit him, but not as hard as Ross or I would have. He tried
to look abused. The band had set up four chairs on the grass as
their stage, and they had no sound system. It was a good thing it
was a small crowd. When it looked like everyone who was coming
was here, they walked over and took their seats. People stopped
talking a looked up. Dean thanked them for coming and introduced
the band. They played Help, Sgt Pepper, A Little Help from my
Friends, Lucy in Sky, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, and Here
Comes the Sun. It was a short concert. They couldn't do all the
effects in some of the songs, but they could do a lot with the
harmonies and two lead guitars. I thought the way they did the
crowd noises in Sgt Pepper worked well. They sang the brass band
part like jazz singers. Chase had done that part on synthesizer.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the concert.

Ross

Dean had barely spoken two words to me since I had gotten here. I
went over as they were packing up and asked if there was a
problem? Other than the thing with Fred? He said yes, there was.
This wasn't the best place to talk about it, but I needed to
know. Dean said he was nearly two years older than me and had
just turned eighteen. So I was now underage. I said we could
still just go out. He asked what were the chances that we would
end up doing something we didn't intend to do? I said um, nearly
certain. I knew it was unlikely that anyone would care or say
anything about our ages, but if someone did he could go to prison
for years. I didn't want to risk that. He said he was sorry. If
we still wanted to, we could start seeing each other again when I
turned eighteen. I said good. I wasn't ready to get married yet,
which was the other solution. He said he was glad I had met Sam.
I kissed him and wished him well.

Ali

A girl came over to Ross and me and introduced herself as Hart.
She said she was glad things had worked out for us and thought
Ross had handled the situation well. We were surprised. Ross
thanked her and asked how she knew about it? Hart said it was a
very small community. Everyone, or at least all the kids, had
known what was going on and had been waiting to see what would
happen. They had been worried about Silver and Phoebe. We said we
were glad things had worked out too. She smiled and said she
hoped we had a good dinner and a good evening. The boy she was
with looked like he might say something, but Hart said goodbye
and told him to come along. He turned and followed her over to
talk to Jake and the band. Ross asked me what that was all about?
I said I had no idea. Verne came over and said he was going to
wait for Sam, but that they would be over soon. I said I hoped so
and kissed him. I lingered a bit, and he looked a little dazed
afterward. I hoped he and Sam wouldn't get lost again.

Verne and Sam both drove over so they could leave from here. We
had more cars than we needed, and would have to plan better if we
got invited back. Ross asked Sam if they were going to form a new
band? He said no. He and Dean might if Dean stayed around after
graduation. But Jake had only stayed with Dean out of loyalty.
When Dean told him he didn't need to, Jake decided to go back
with the rest of the old band. After dinner Ross and Sam and
Verne and I went out on the porch. I suggested we all just take
our pants off to start with. It would make things easier. Verne
and Sam both looked a little embarrassed. Ross giggled and asked
how they had thought we were going to manage things? We had eight
people and only two beds. Ross and I knew that Verne and Chase
had been having sex, and that Sam and Verne shared a room. Given
that their parents didn't know what was going on, that meant
Chase had gone into Verne and Sam's room. Verne wouldn't have
gone into Jenny's room, although she might have been involved
somehow. So Verne and Sam might not have had sex in the same bed
before, but they couldn't claim to be shy around each other. They
didn't pretend to be after they realized I was serious. Ross and
I took off ours, and they sort of shrugged and did the same. Now
nobody would lose their keys.

Ross and I had discussed who should get in the bed first. It was
against the end to the porch, so someone had to. She'd had Sam in
there before I'd had Verne, so they crawled in first and scooted
over to leave us room. I kissed Verne standing up to give them
time to get started. Spontaneity worked better if you did some
planning. My hands started wandering and got lost for a while.
They found each other in the middle of his back and each wanted
to go where the other had been, but it was time to move on. I
pulled him down to the bed without removing any more clothes. He
kissed me, and his hand went under my silky shirt and explored my
front. It slid over my bra and caressed each nipple. It seemed to
like this sort of thing, because it moved down and caressed me
through my panties. It started rubbing and I started getting
wetter. When Verne could feel how wet I was through my panties, I
sat up and took off my shirt and bra, then lay down and lifted my
hips to remove them. He finished undressing and reaching inside
me. I noted Ross was also making progress. Verne found my
clitoris and bent down to taste my breasts. When Sam climbed on
top of Ross, I pulled Verne onto me and guided him inside. He
pushed in a little, came out some, pushed in more, got deeper
with each stroke, and paused when he was all the way in.

Then we started moving, Verne and I together, and Ross and I in
syncopation. Our speeds stayed close but varied slightly.
Sometimes the syncopation held, sometimes they passed us. The
boys held each other in check without realizing it. Then when Sam
got a little ahead again, I pushed Verne to keep up. Ross knew
what I was doing, but since Sam was the one going faster, it was
easier for me to control the speed. I gradually picked up the
pace. Everyone was getting more excited. And of course Ross got
there first. I followed her as she approached orgasm, and when it
hit Sam pumped away to keep her there. I waited to see what he
would do next. He slowed down a little but kept pushing himself.
I didn't think he would take long, and I was right. He gasped and
came into her, and then it was just me and Verne. He was ready,
so I waited a little then let myself go, and soon afterward heard
him grunt as he came inside of me. God that felt good.

Fool

After the other four went outside, the rest of us just took off
our clothes. I had slept with all of them before. Silver had been
sleeping on the outside of the bed, so she let me and Drew get in
first. Ali said Ross had encouraged Silver and Phoebe to get
physical, but they hadn't actually had sex yet. At least not as
far as any of us knew. They got in after us and didn't seem shy
with each other. Silver kissed Phoebe and put her arm around her.
I kissed Drew and moved my hand from her breast to her navel to
her clitoris. She kissed me harder. Her hips started rocking.
Silver's hand on Phoebe was getting similar results. I kept my
fingers moving and was rewarded with and a gasp and spasm from
Drew, followed not too long after by one from Phoebe. I climbed
on top of Drew and guided myself into her. She was still excited
from her orgasm and kissed me fervently as we moved together. Her
legs were drawn up slightly. Silver and Phoebe watched us. I
couldn't tell what they thought of seeing a boy and girl having
sex. Phoebe started at Silver's neck and kissed down her body to
her clitoris. She seemed to like what she found, and worked on it
with the expected results. Silver whimpered. I liked what I was
doing and kept doing it. Drew liked it too and helped. Silver's
whimpers turned into gasps and we felt the bed rock as she came.
Drew stopped kissing me to gasp out her own orgasm. Everyone
watched me as I grunted and shot my cum into Drew. Phoebe smiled
a little.

Verne came in a minute later and said he needed to start back.
Drew also got dressed and said good night. Phoebe went out on the
porch with Ross and Ali. It was just as well that Drew and Verne
left. Girls seemed sort of okay, but I didn't think I would like
seeing her with another boy.

Well I know that I'm a wicked guy
And I was born with a jealous mind
And I can't spend my whole life
Trying just to make you toe the line

You better run for your life if you can, little girl
Hide your head in the sand little girl
Catch you with another man
That's the end ah little girl

Silver and I started cleaning up. I asked Silver if she would
have sex with me? I could pretend to be a girl. It worked for Sam
and Ross. I would wrap an ace bandage around my crotch. She
picked up a chef's knife and offered to make it my time of the
month. I said um, no, that's okay, I would just shut up now.
Except there was one other thing I wanted to ask for her help
with.

Ali

Phoebe came out on the porch to join us after Verne left. We were
still in bed, so she climbed over Sam and started kissing Ross.
Sam and I watched them for a moment, then he turned to look at
me. He was with Ross and had run out of things to say. I couldn't
think of anything either, so I lay back down and kissed him. If
he was surprised, he didn't show it. I was, but only a little.
Ross and I had been sort of sharing him already. Sam didn't know
what to do. He knew Ross and I had an unusual relationship. He
knew I wanted something but didn't know how far to go. If he got
it wrong he might have both of us mad and him. I didn't leave him
hanging too long. I reached down and felt his penis, and watched
Ross go down on Phoebe. There wasn't really enough room in the
bed, but that was part of the fun. Like playing twister. When Sam
was hard enough and then some, I turned around. He kissed the
back of my neck, and I felt his fingers move over my buttocks and
find my vagina. He moved into position and tried to line up his
erection. I pushed my rear back a little farther. He found the
right angle and pushed into me. Doing it this way required a
different rhythm. We squirmed around until we found something
that worked. He held onto my hip. When he reached farther around,
I parted my legs a little to let him in. I had been wondering
what his fingers were like since I had seen him with Chase at the
party. They did know what they were doing. I came twice more
before he did, and Phoebe came three times.

We dozed until Silver and the fool came outside with a table. Sam
and Phoebe got dressed while the fool and I brought out chairs,
then said good night. I was thinking we should probably leave
too, but Silver started kissing Ross. She was always popular with
the ladies. They headed for the bed, and the fool and I sat down
at the table. I said I heard he had been sleeping around. What
did a girl have to do to get some attention? We both said take
off her clothes at the same time, but with different intonations.
It was a joke from the one previous time we'd had sex. He said
hold a slumber party. I said have sex in public? He said he had
wanted to sleep with me and Ross, but Silver abducted him. I said
I knew I took advantage of his feelings. He looked away and said
he didn't mind, he liked being with me. I touched his hand. When
he looked up, I leaned forward and kissed him. After a minute I
reached under the table to check, then told Ross and Silver to
move over. Silver looked up from between Ross's legs and they
did. She went back to what she was doing and my coz resumed her
appreciation of it. I pushed the fool down on the bed and lowered
myself onto his erection. Then I fucked him for all he was worth.
Which, as it turned out, was quite a lot.

Ross

A good story needs no epilogue. This one might, but I'm too tired
right now. After Ali has rested a bit, I'll wake her up and let
her do the rest of the driving. If any of what you've seen has
pleased you, please leave a few words. I might take off my
clothes again.
