Cute Little Smoker, Kartoons for Kids (no sex, humor, word pics) by this guy (thisguy.1066@gmail.com) Summary: Satirical description of newspaper style comic strips featured in a fictional magazine that encourages youth smoking. KARTOONS FOR KIDS CUTE THROWBACK COMIC: An old fashion black and white comic strip covers the entire page dedicated to `KARTOONS FOR KIDS' In the box at the top left corner of the page the words "CIGARETTE CUTIE CAROL" appear in big blocky letters, just below them more words "smoking by the stream, copyright April 1946" in old fashion block letters. In the box in middle of the top row is a 1940's comic-strip-style drawing of a girl on the left and a boy on the right sitting on a dock, their lower legs hanging over the edge of the dock, with their bare feet just above the water's surface. The girl's hairstyle is reminiscent of Shirley Temple's signature curls; she is wearing a typical 1940's little girl Sunday dress. The boy is wearing a polo shirt and shorts held up by suspenders. The boy is holding a home-made fishing rod (a stick with a string) in his hands, and looking at the girl. The girl is holding up a cigarette. The words "look, I got a cigarette" appear in a dialog bubble in the very top left corner of the box above the girl's. Above the boy's head and slightly below the first dialog bubble is another dialog bubble "where'd you get it?" A third dialog bubble just above the girl's head reads "I snuck it from daddy's pack" In the box on the right side of the top row the two kids are still sitting in the same positions. The girl has a naughty grin on her face; there is a slight look of fear on the boy's face. This time the top dialog bubble is on the right side, above the boy's head; it reads "daddy will hit you if he finds out you took one of his cigarettes." The next dialog bubble down is the girl's, reading "naw, he only hits mommy; wanna smoke it?" A short box extends all the way across the page. Across the bottom of the box is the drawn image of a lit cigarette tilted downwards at a fifteen-degree angle with a thin wisp of smoke rising from the tip repeating a full six times. Above the line of cigarettes the word "smoke" repeats over the first four cigarettes. The word "real" is above the fifth cigarette, and the word "good" is above the sixth cigarette. A box, slightly shorter than the ones in the top row, is at the left of the page. The image of the girl and boy is similar to those above, except the girl is holding the now lit cigarette to her lips; a wisp of smoke rising from its tip. Only one dialog bubble appears above the boy's head in this box, it reads "I thought smoking was just for adults" The middle box in the row has the two kids still in the same basic positions; except the girl is handing the cigarette to the boy and she is blowing a cone of smoke out of her mouth, its corners upturned in a little smile. The box has no dialog bubble in it. The right box in the row still has the two kids in the same basic positions. The boy is now holding the lit cigarette to his lips; there is a slight look of nervousness on his face. Two dialog bubbles appear above the girl's head. The top one reads "why should adults get to have all the fun", the lower one says "don't' waste the smoke, breath it in" Another short box extends all the way across the page. Across the bottom of the box is the same drawing of a lit cigarette, again repeating six times. Above the line of cigarettes the word "smoke" repeats over the first three cigarettes. The word "it" is above the fourth cigarette, the word, "real" is above the fifth cigarette, and the word "deep" is above the sixth cigarette. The box in the lower left corner of the page, the same height as the ones in the middle row, has another similar image of the girl and boy. The girl is looking at the boy and smiling, the boy is still holding the cigarette but his hand is on his knee; his eyes are comically big and his pupils are huge. There is a small cloud of smoke between and above the kids' heads. The one and only dialog bubble in the box is above the boy's head, it contains only one word "whoa" The box in the middle of the bottom row once again shows the boy and the girl sitting on the dock. The boy is handing the cigarette, which now looks to be about half smoked, back to the girl. His eyes are still noticeably bigger than in the top row. At the top left corner of the box in a dialog bubble above the girl's head the words "smoking is great for kids" appear. In a dialog bubble above the boys head one word appears "yup" There is one more dialog bubble in the box, just above the girl's head, reading "just make sure mom and dad don't find out" The box in the lower right corner of the page has one word across its top "how?" Below the girl is still sitting on the dock. She is winking towards the reader, the cigarette is in her right hand, her left arm is outstretched, meanwhile the boy is in the process of falling into the water...
