Appeal

(12 June 2003)

oosh

From the bell of the flower
A peal of petals
Cries out to the deaf.

Before we drink from the silent cup
Let us hear her whisper
Of Beauty and Necessity:

"Of her wizened plenty
Utility grudges forth
Dull, unbeautiful Enough.

But a flower, a flower is Extra!" -
Scenting the sublime
Sound into the trumpet of the silent bloom.

There, all need forgetful,
Burrow for the beautiful
That quenches thirst with Thirst

And with the sweetest nectar feeds
Desire with more desire
Until Enough cries out for More.
