This morning, I woke up thinking about sex.

I had a dream in which my husband and I had just returned from a trip.
After some time spent in bed together, he went downstairs to finish up
some chores. I was lying in bed, totally exhausted, barely able to
stay awake. But I was also completely aroused, unable to fall asleep
until he satisfied me. I could hear him doing dishes. I could hear
him clanking the silverware in the dishwasher. I did not know when he
would come upstairs. I was in an exhausted sexual agony, just wishing
that he could somehow know how much I needed him to come to bed.

Then I woke up, deliciously aroused, wishing that he could come home
from work to satisfy me.

I have always enjoyed my sexual dreams. In them, I usually hit an
amazing high of sexual arousal. I even have orgasm-equivalents,
although they don't feel much like my waking orgasms. They are
insanely intense, but without the particular physical sensations of a
real orgasm.

When I first started having such sexual dreams in college, I used to
try to wake myself up, so that I could actually masturbate myself to a
real orgasm. But I quickly discovered that, although my brain was
very awake with sexual activity, my body was still sound asleep. As a
result, the sensations I experienced in actual masturbation paled in
comparison to the sensations in my dream.

My brain, knowing that I had a compulsion to wake up and masturbate
and knowing that it would be disappointing, worked out a rather nice
compromise: I would dream that I had woken up and was masturbating.
That way, I got all the glorious, dream-like sensations and eliminated
the desire to wake up. It was really quite ingenious. (Thanks,
brain!)

I have noticed that the frequency of my sexual dreaming has increased
dramatically since I started actively working on YesRoom again. I
guess that reading erotic stories, writing sexual journals, and
perusing sites to review on a regular basis has an effect on me!

A few nights ago, everything in my dream was a dildo of one form or
another. I kept trying them out in a state of mad sexual frenzy. I
woke up thinking that I needed to buy myself some new sexual toys,
particularly a vibrator. (Mine got chucked a while ago as it was
falling apart.) That thought hasn't left me. (If anyone has a
recommendation of what to get or where online to buy it, please e-mail
me at madeline@yesroom.com.)

My sexual dreams often mean that I am most aroused in the mornings,
long after my husband has left for work. I would like to find a way
to channel that sexual desire and energy into a time when we can make
love. Perhaps he needs a job where he can work a somewhat later
shift, like 2pm - 10pm. Because, at the moment, I'm neither very
awake nor very aroused at 5:30am. But at 8am, particularly after a
dream like last night's, I am a melting puddle of sexual desire, happy
for any attention he might see fit to bestow upon me.

So dear, want to find a new job?
