CHAPTER 6

When we got home it was to find a full house with
the honeymooners having arrived a few minutes
before we did. As soon as we walked in Kelly and
Lisa jumped up and rushed over to me, hugged me
tight and kissed me passionately before turning to
Harry and giving him a friendly kiss on the cheek
as they said hello. It was obvious to everyone that
Harry really enjoyed what happened, and even Denise
smiled as Harry blushed. When I sat down the girls
came and sat on my lap wanting to tell me all about
their honeymoon, but I put them off until Harry and
Denise had gone, just making sure they knew about
the party the next evening. When Harry and Denise
had left a little later, the girls were all over me
once more and I couldn't move until they had told
me almost everything they had seen and done while
they had been away. Mark and John looked happy with
their lot, but Kelly and Lisa were radiant, almost
every other word was their husbands name, and I
felt tiny shivers running through them as they
talked to me. Eventually even Kelly and Lisa were
talked out and they got off my lap and stood with
their men as they said their goodnights to us,
before making their way to their own homes for the
night. I locked up while Sue and Frankie and Jenny
and Trish went to bed, I then looked in on the
girls and kissed them goodnight as usual. As I sat
on Sue's bed she said softly "Lisa looked really
happy didn't she Daddy, is that what being in love
is like?" "Part of it darling, it's certainly the
good bit, all you have to remember is that the bad
bits don't have to last long if you love enough."
Sue hugged me, and I went and sat by Frankie's side
after tucking her in. "I'm glad Kelly is so happy
Uncle Jack, Mark's really nice, isn't he?" "He's
the greatest Frankie darling, and Kelly thinks so
too." I kissed her one last time and, wishing them
sweet dreams I shut off the light and closed the
door. When I got into bed it was to be laying
between two very happy mothers who couldn't stop
talking bout their married daughters, and were
still at it when I drifted off to sleep. I awoke to
find myself covered in naked female flesh, but not
that which I went to sleep with. Sue and Frankie
had somehow replaced Jenny and Trish in bed with me
and were working quite hard at getting me aroused.
"He's awake Frankie" said Sue softly as she allowed
my cock to slip from her soft warm wet mouth, and
Frankie moved up my body, kissed me tenderly on the
lips and said softly "Can we make love before
breakfast please Uncle Jack, it seem such a long
time since we had a chance of getting you on our
own, and we won't have a chance this evening what
with the party and everything." The fact that I had
a throbbing erection prevented me denying I was
ready for action, so I said a quiet "OK, who's
first?". In a flash Frankie was straddling my hips
and lowering herself on to my hard penis, ably
assisted by Sue who was holding it and guiding it
to the right place. Almost before Frankie had a
chance to get started 'Trish put her head in the
room and called, "Hurry up you girls, we're going
shopping in half an hour if you're interested."
Frankie froze, looked down at me and saw I was
smiling, "Go on" I said softly, "It's not every day
you get to go shopping, is it?" She bent down and
kissed me sweetly, "Thanks for being so
understanding Uncle Jack, I love you loads and
loads" she then rolled off my still throbbing penis
and dashed to the bathroom for a quick shower, very
soon followed by Sue who just stayed long enough to
kiss me and say sorry for dashing away like that. I
was still chuckling about it when, a few minutes
later Jenny came into the bedroom. "What's so funny
darling?" she asked as she sat beside me on the
bed. "Things are certainly changing round here
darling" I said, and told her that I'd been passed
over in favour of a shopping trip, relating what
had happened when 'Trish had passed her message on
to the girls. I soon convinced Jenny that I wasn't
upset, "To be honest darling, I wasn't really in
the mood at that moment anyway despite the size of
my erection, so it didn't upset me in the
slightest. I just saw the funny side of it." I
managed to shower and dress before the girls all
went off on their shopping trip, and actually
managed to get on my computer in the Den and do
some work that had suddenly become urgent. I was
just finishing off, and setting the backup routine
to start when Kelly and Lisa came in, without Mark
and John, who it seemed had gone down to the car
club to see what was happening. Lisa went and made
us some coffee then we all sat on the sofa and I
told them what had been happening during the week
they'd been away. "Yes, Mom told us Daddy, I guess
it's a real honour to be chosen to do a job like
that, how is it going anyway?" I grinned at her,
"To be honest darling, it's going so well I almost
have nothing to do most of the time. So many people
seem to want to do something towards the general
principle of helping the younger generation, all I
have to do is mention that a job needs to be done,
and someone is soon doing it. I know most of them
just want some short term publicity, but I can live
with that so long as they're doing something
constructive."
Over the next few months my words were proved to be
true. Many local people made offers to get involved
with youth projects I identified, more often than
not with the help of the half dozen youngsters I
recruited at the very beginning. They helped
identify the young people that could be trusted to
form the basis of a committee for each project, and
I always seemed to find an interested adult to do
what I did with the car club. Joe Ward proved
invaluable in providing accounting support, no
matter how many groups we supported financially.
There were of course failures, one club devoted to
photography was found to be copying and selling
pornographic video cassettes, Joe picked it up from
some of the invoices he was processing, called me
in to show me what was worrying him. I called my
friend Ben at the local precinct and between us we
made a surprise visit to the small club premises
and caught them red handed. Despite the attempts of
some of those that didn't like what we were doing,
to get the whole project closed down when the
affair was made public, I pointed out, in an
interview with one of the local papers, that it was
because of my commissions vigilance, and my
reporting it immediately to the police, that
resulted in the organisers of the operation being
jailed. The crunch came almost a year after I took
up the appointment on the Youth Commission. It was
close to election time, and I was in the process of
putting together some statistics regarding the
running of the commission and the multitude of
clubs and societies we had help start and continued
to support. I'd told Jenny that I would be late
home, an unusual occurrence and one I hated to have
happen at any time. I was sitting in my office when
Derek came in and sat down opposite me as I sat at
my desk. "Anything I can do for you Derek?" I
asked, and suddenly noticed he didn't look very
happy. "Not really Jack, I just came to warn you of
a problem that might be coming your way in a few
weeks time." The one thing I hate is problems of
other peoples making, so Derek got my immediate
attention, "The thing is Jack, this Youth
Commission is likely to be decommissioned after the
forthcoming election. It seems our illustrious
Mayor has been caught 'in flagrente dilecto' and
not for the first time." I chuckled, remembering a
former time, when the heat was taken off my family
by the Mayor getting caught in a motel with a young
woman. "Not Funny Jack, this time it's with the
wife of a member of the town council, and he's
actually got the damn woman pregnant at the age of
forty for Christ's sake!" Despite the severity of
the situation Derek had to smile at the thought of
the bumptious ass of a Mayor knocking up a married
woman. "So, how does this affect this organisation
Derek, I thought it had all party support, and was
to be protected from political interference?" Derek
grimaced, "That's right Jack, except for the fact
that funding can still be withdrawn with the
relevant notice, and the prospective Mayor had been
a violent opponent of the whole project, saying
it's a massive misuse of public funds, and waste of
resources, in manpower, materials and
accommodation. If he gets in, I don't think you'll
last more than a few weeks, to be honest."
If you've ever been kicked in the guts playing
football, or had the breath knocked out of you
after a hard tackle, you'll know what I felt like
at that moment. Derek saw it, and said "I'm sorry
Jack, there's not much we can do about it, there's
only one candidate for Mayor at present, and even
though he's not very popular he's sure to get
elected." I started my PC to start printing off the
results of my stats report, then put my coat on
ready to go home once it was finished. "You know
the pity of all this Derek" I said, "It's that I
can prove this commission has made a real
difference." The printer finished, and I shut down
my system and turned it off as I picked up the
report. "Look at this, I've integrated police
figures for the past three years with the progress
of the various clubs and societies I've help set up
in the past eleven months. You can verify it with
the police commissioner if you want to, but this is
proof that the incidence of youth crime has dropped
by seventy percent since I started work here. The
amount of money saved by this reduction I crime is
more than my original budget. How can any
politician possible want to scrap something that
gives him the best of two worlds for crying out
loud!" By now I was getting really mad, and had to
pull myself up short so I didn't begin making a
fool of myself. "I'm sorry Derek, I didn't mean to
blow up like that, I'm going home for dinner, how
do you feel about joining me?" He agreed with a
smile and was soon following me home in his car.
After dinner we were sitting in the Den with a cup
of coffee, when Jenny and 'Trish came and joined
us, asking as usual what my day had been like.
Between us Derek and I explained what was likely to
be happening, and I said, resignedly "Well, it was
fun while it lasted, and I reckon I can say I at
least tried to make a difference, even if there was
a lot of opposition to the way I did it. If we have
to close down at least I'll have a clear conscience
about it all." Jenny snuggled up close to me, then
said softly "You know Jack darling, if it wasn't
for the way this will affect all those you've been
helping all this time, I'd be inclined to say to
hell with the lot of them. I just wish there was
some way we could keep this idiot out of office,"
Derek cleared his throat in a very loud and obvious
manner, then said "There is one way Jenny," and he
looked at me and smiled. "NO... DEFINITELY NOT!" I
said more forcibly that I had ever spoken in my
life. Jenny looked at me, then at Derek, then back
to me again, "What?" she said with a frown. "Ask
Derek, he knows what I mean" I said, and Jenny
turned back to Derek and said "Oh, come on Derek,
tell me what he's talking about please?" "All we
have to do is get someone to stand against the
currently single candidate, someone with a clean
reputation, someone that's popular with the young
voters, someone that's done a lot for this city
during the past year, someone that's very close to
us right now." "JACK!" said Jenny, suddenly
understanding what Derek was talking about, "What a
wonderful idea Derek, Jack as Mayor, my husband the
Mayor, I like that, what do you think 'Trish?"
"Well, it'll certainly keep him busy Jenny,
especially if he still keeps his day job as well."
"You've got to be out of your tiny minds" I said,
"What chance do I have of getting elected, I hate
politics, no one knows me, I wouldn't stand a
chance of finding any sponsors, there's no time to
get organised for gods sake, the elections only
three weeks away..." I stopped, looked around me at
the three faces that were turned my way; then Derek
said gently "If we can get over all those problems
Jack, will you consider standing, even if you do
lose, at least you'll have made an effort on behalf
of the young people of this town, at least you'll
go down fighting, not stepping aside at the whim of
a politician that's just venting his spite out on
all you've achieved over less than a year of
effort." I gave a sigh of resignation turned to
Jenny and said "Do you want me to do this Jenny
darling?" Giving me one of her most alluring smiles
Jenny leaned over and kissed me tenderly and said
"I think it's one of the best things you could do
under the circumstances Jack darling, and I'll
support you every inch of the way." Giving a final
shake of my head I turned to Derek and said "I
don't believe I'm saying this Derek, but OK, I'll
give it a go, let's see if we can get sufficient
sponsors, and enough support from the local press,
to make it a fight worth starting." "Can I use your
phone please Jack" said Derek with a big grin on
his face, I nodded and in a matter of a few seconds
of dialling he said "It's all systems go, I'll be
there in a few minutes OK?" He put down the phone
turned to me and said "OK Jack, get your coat and
let's get started, I think you and 'Trish should
come as well Jenny, unless you don't want the
publicity?" Twenty minutes later I was sitting in
front of rows of some of the city's most prominent
people, and a large number of businessmen including
Dave, Bill Hamilton, Ted and Harry, all of whom
seemed less than surprised to see me sitting there.
Derek introduced me, gave a brief rundown of what I
had achieved, including a mention of the Avenging
Angels and all they had done, all for the benefit
of anyone present that wasn't already aware of it.
"What we need Ladies and Gentlemen, is a credible
alternative to what's on offer as Mayor. In Jack
Bowman, we have that credibility, in Jack Bowman
we have an alternative, in Jack Bowman we have the
means of getting something done instead of wasting
a lot of time with political infighting, in Jack
Bowman I believe we have the best chance of putting
this city on the map, and holding it up as a beacon
of moderation, and fairness. All we need is your
support in getting him known as a candidate in less
than three weeks, which is all we have before this
city gets to vote." There was less of a fuss than I
might have expected, it seems that everyone there
had been invited because they supported what Derek
was doing, rather than because they might be
persuaded to come over to his way of thinking. When
there was a momentary silence Bill stood up and
shouted "Speech", a cry that was carried round the
hall. Reluctantly I stood up, looked at Bill and
said "I'll get you for this Bill Hamilton" my smile
robbing my words of any real threat. "Look folks, I
feel I've been railroaded into doing this. I agreed
to do it for one reason, and that's because there's
a chance, I suppose it's a certainty realistically
speaking, that the Youth Commission I currently
head, will be scrapped in a few weeks time. I don't
want that because I feel that what I'm doing is the
single most important thing I ever did in my life.
I know it's working, I have the figures to prove
it, not my figures alone, those published by the
Commissioner for police. If this is the only way to
get what I want for the young people of this city,
then I'll do it, it's about time someone stood up
for the next generation, if only because they'll
soon be the ones to be running this city and need
to understand what's expected of them." I sat down
as a thunderous applause silenced me, at which
point the meeting broke up and I was surrounded by
people wanting to congratulate me on my decision.
The editor of the paper that gave us such sensitive
treatment during the various Avenging Angels
episodes came and talked to me, outlining the way
he intended to open my campaign the following
morning in his paper. As he dashed away to change
the front page Ted and Harry came up to me, "Jack,
if you do get elected I suppose you'll be wanting
to devote all your time to the job, won't you?"
"What, trying to get rid of me already Ted?" I said
with a grin, "To be honest I'd rather have a part
time job than no job at all, Ted, if you can't
swing that I guess I'll have to resign, and then
look for another job when I'm out of office. 'Trish
did tell me not to give up my day job, and I agree
with her. Still it's your company, I can't tell you
what to do with it." Harry laughed when I finished,
then said "Well at least I didn't lose any money
this time Jack, but only because I didn't take any
bets. Look Jack, the last thing we want to do is
lose you, you're much too valuable to us. For
crying out loud, having you working for us has
generated more business in a year than we ever got
in any two year period. You'll have your job kept
open for you for as long as you want it. I think it
would be a good idea if you still came and sat in
on our regular Friday meetings, and kept a watching
brief over your old department even if Andy is
doing all the donkey work, and by the way Jack,
that was a good choice you made, he's really very
good. If you do get voted out at some time in the
future, your job will be waiting for you, and
that's a promise." It suddenly seemed as if one
avenue of escape after another was being closed to
me, so I decided to surrender to whatever fate had
in store for me and go along with the flow, or
rather the tidal wave of opinion that was building
up behind me.
When we got home it was to find that Mark and John
had joined the girls and were watching TV waiting
to find out what was happening. When the girls had
done with their screams of delight the guys shook
my hand and congratulated me, "I think this is the
best thing that could have happened Jack" said
Mark, "I know you'll get the votes of all those
under the age of twenty-one, especially those that
have had anything to do with the clubs you've been
setting up recently. I reckon you might even find
they can get their parents to vote for you as well"
I responded pleasantly enough to this, knowing in
my heart of hearts that I really wanted to lose
this fight, but seeing little prospect of doing so.
On my way to work next morning I saw the first of
many posters with my face on them. Someone had
obviously got things organised very quickly, not
just getting them printed, but getting them posted.
Everyone I met going into my office congratulated
me, and promised me their vote, even the Mayor came
in and very sheepishly told me I had his support.
Eventually I managed to get some work done, and by
lunch time I'd cleared my in tray so I could go and
make my usual visit to see what Andy had in store
for me before we attended our board meeting the
following day. Having obviously been told by Ted
what was happening, Andy was more than happy to
find he'd be doing this same job for as long as he
wanted to, especially if I got elected. Not that he
wanted to take over my position, just because of
the extra money he was getting, as well as the
share of the bonus I used to get, that I insisted
he received. By Friday there wasn't anyone I knew
that hadn't heard the news. I was cornered by our
local TV station and found myself being quoted a
dozen time on their news bulletins as well as
having biographies printed in all the local papers,
most of them complementary, but not all, I'm glad
to say. The weekend came and I went to visit a
number of the clubs as usual, including the car
club that started it all. There I got a loud
welcome, and promises of votes from those members
that were old enough. There were even one or two
parents dropping their kids off that made the same
promise, especially those that had problem children
that had been turned round by the club, and were
keeping out of trouble.
By the end of the first week after my campaign was
started I was put down as leading the polls by a
huge majority, and that was before I'd even
attended any sort of public meeting asking for
votes. Derek and the others wanted me to attend a
number of speaking engagements but I said a firm
NO, on the basis that the last thing people wanted
was to hear me spouting off about myself every day.
I did agree to make one appearance at a rally to be
held on the Green, which as it turned out exceeded
anything that had ever been seen for decades, there
were so many people there the police had a job
keeping them from overflowing on to the roads, and
in the end gave up, closing off the roads around
the area until the crowds had dispersed. I kept
things simple, and kept to the facts I could prove,
that there had been a huge reduction in crime, and
that this had saved more money that had been
allocated, let alone actually spent. The fact that
there were as many older voters there as there were
young ones gave me no hope of losing the election.
So I decided to go for broke, and actually try to
win. About a week before polling day I received a
challenge by my opponent to take part in a head to
head discussion on our local TV station. I was
eventually persuaded by Derek I should take part,
ably assisted as he was by Jenny and Trish and all
the girls. On the day I turned up at the studio to
find Ken Williams, my opponent, already there along
with a crowd of his supporters sitting in the
packed gallery. We were introduced my the MC, who
threw in a remark designed to get the fur flying,
that we were both in this for our own personal
gain. Ken blustered on for some time about how he
just wanted to serve the community, and had nothing
but altruistic aims, and didn't expect to benefit
from holding the position of Mayor, and so on and
so on. "That's more than can be said for Jack
Bowman here, why he can't even be bothered to
address public meetings, that shows how much
contempt he has for the electorate of this city"
when the audience had quietened down I said in a
quiet voice "Ken, do you know the real reason I'm
standing for election?" not waiting for an answer I
continued "It's because you're going to destroy
everything I've spent almost a year building up in
support of the youth of this city. The clubs and
societies the Youth Commission has helped start and
support in the last eleven months has resulted in
part in a reduction in youth crime of seventy
percent. The money saved by this reduction is in
fact more than the money allocated to the youth
Commission for it's first five years of operation.
All you want to do is destroy this work, and send
hundreds of young citizens back on to the streets
where they have no hope, no future and no trust in
our generation. Have you noticed how few wrecked
cars there are parked and dumped around the city
streets, have you noticed how few reports of
disturbances there have been in the papers and on
local TV stations, have you made any effort to do
anything for the future rulers of our society. Of
course you haven't, all you're interested in is
what jobs can you find for your friends when you
get elected. How many changes can you make to the
way this city is run, and how much control can you
take from the public servants that do the actual
day to day running of the fabric of our society.
You just want power over the people, I want to make
sure the people have the power to do their jobs
without political interference, you want to rule
the city, I want to make the city run smoothly and
efficiently. You want to put down those that you
dislike, I want to empower the youth of this city,
and help them to realise their true potential.
These young people have brains, they can think for
themselves, and they can be trusted to do things
right, if only someone will trust them to do it in
the first place. I've proved that in my own small
way, as all the committee members in all the clubs
and societies I've helped set up, will show to
anyone willing to sit and listen with an open
mind." I suddenly realised I had been pounding the
arm of the chair I was sitting on, to emphasise all
that I was saying. The moment I stopped there was
uproar in the gallery, and Ken Williams just sat
there completely stunned at the vehemence of my
outburst. A few minutes later Derek and Bill came
up to me, I hadn't even seen them in the audience,
and Derek said "That's it Jack, you just got
elected. I heard one of the Williams supporters say
to the guy sitting next to him, 'We don't stand a
fucking chance now, who thought this was a good
idea?' I agree Jack, his backers thought you
didn't stand a chance as you've never been
interested in politics, that's why they set this
up. You simply slaughtered him, did you see the
expression on his face, he couldn't believe what
was happening."
That was my last public speaking engagement until
my acceptance speech after the landslide election
that put me in city hall for the first term of
office. And this is almost where we came in, I
spent the next twenty plus years as Mayor of this
fair city, during that time I've worked part time
at the computing company although most of it on the
board of directors, Andy having proved to be as
good a manager as I said he was, and filling my
shoes more than adequately. By some miracle I
managed to keep my private life private, and even
though I still had regular sex with Sue and Frankie
as well as with 'Trish, none of it ever got out to
spoil things for us. When they turned twenty the
girls found young men of their own and did the same
as Kelly and Lisa in that they spent one final
night in bed with me making passionate love, before
going to their own marriage beds as their sisters
had done before them. Kelly and Lisa both presented
Jenny and Trish with grandchildren, Kelly having
two sets of twins in three years, and Lisa
producing three in four years. Ted, Bill and Harry
all stood as godfathers to the girls children as
did Dave. Vera, Sarah, Sue and Frankie all being
godmothers. Sue and Frankie both waited 'til they
graduated before deciding on what they wanted to do
with their lives, Frankie went on to be a lawyer,
while Sue settled down to married life and had four
children. All of the girls stayed married to their
men, I like to think I had something to do with
them having a stable marriage with all the loving I
gave them over the years. Sandi and Richard also
stayed together, Richard going into Doreen's firm
and eventually becoming a partner before taking up
the post of District Attorney, following in his
fathers footsteps. All in all I've had a good life,
especially the latter half, and all through the
love of a close family, even though it was a
slightly unusual family relationship we all had
better lives than we would have in any other
arrangement, especially Sandi and Susan.
What happens now? I'm retiring to spend my old age
in the bosom of my family, surrounded by a dozen
rapidly growing grandchildren, in the hope that I
can see a dozen great-grandchildren before I
shuffle off this mortal coil.
