Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

Tim silently watched the hand move across the face of the clock,
ticking away the seconds. He had planned everything carefully.
He would leave the house at 9:15 for the bike ride to the
railway crossing where he would arrive at 9:40. There he would
have to wait for the train for five minutes.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

At 9:15 he looked around the room one last time. It was tidy and
the bed was made. He left the house and got on his bike. Without
looking back he rode off. Leaving his past and future behind.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

At 9:17 he drove past the place where, two months before, he had
gotten his first kiss. There were no tears, he had none left. He
started to pedal a bit harder, eager to reach his destination.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

At 9:39 he reached the railway crossing one minute early. He got
off his bike and sat down by the track. All that was left was to
wait for the train.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

He had met Johan at the stand of his parents on the local fair.
They had made a connection immediately and had spent the rest of
the day together. It had been a day full of vivid colors, sounds
and fragrances. Everything had seemed sharp and clear in a way
it had never been before. At the end of the day Johan had given
him a chaste kiss on his cheek and said he had enjoyed spending
the day with Tim.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

Tim looked at his watch. It was 9:41. 'I wonder how many people
know the time of their departure,' he thought. Strange, the
things you think of when you are waiting for a train.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

Two weeks later he saw Johan again. This time Johan had invited
him home. Nervous and exited Tim had followed him to his house.
Johan had given him a glass of wine and they had watched an
opera on TV. Every word, every movement and every scene of it
was burned into Tim's brain. Not because he liked it. But
because Johan was there watching it with him.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

At 9:42 it started to rain. Tim put the hood of his coat over
his head and wondered why he bothered.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

"May I kiss you?". Johan had asked after the opera had ended.
Nervously Tim had nodded, closing his eyes, waiting for their
lips to meet. Nothing could have prepared him for the explosion
of pleasure that followed. Time seemed to stop as their lips
melted together and their tongues entwined. But time never
stops.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

At 9:43 Tim started counting the trees that lined the tracks.
One tree a second. 120 trees before the train would arrive.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

Somehow they had managed to get to Johan's bedroom, although Tim
could not remember how. The soft gentle touches of Johan's hands
send shivers down Tim's spine. His lips, worshipping Tim's body,
set fire to parts of him that Tim didn't knew even existed. It
all ended in the glorious moment Tim spilled his seed in Johan's
mouth for the first time.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

At 9:44 A The distant rumble of thunder grew closer. 60 trees
before the train would arrive.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

Two days ago Tim's parents had found out about his relationship.
His father had told him he was no longer a child of theirs. His
mother had told him he would go to hell. Tim didn't care. He was
in love. He put some clothes in a bag and went to Johan's house.
When he arrived the police were there and Johan was arrested.
Homosexuality was still a crime in Virginia.

Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc

At 9:45 Tim stepped forward to face the oncoming train, which
arrived right on time.
