ONE

A swordsman and a gunman.

Always take out the gunman first. The assassin under ordinary
circumstances would have immediately gone for Julian McMahon first. It
was common sense as if he tried to take down Hayden Christensen, Julian
would have plenty of opportunities to riddle his back with bullets.
Always take out the one who attacks from a distance first.

Except in this situation, the assassin was well aware that Julian,
unlike the run-of-the-mill snipers that he bore no fondness of, would
play hard. Julian would do his damned best to keep a distance between
him and the assassin until he had exhausted every fucking bullet in his
three guns that he always carried on his body. It was unlikely that
Julian would reach that point since he was a bloody good shot. Julian
also deliberately made sure that the assassin ended up in a room where
Julian had a few dozen items of his prized gun collection hanging from
the wall within his reach. The assassin had no doubt that every gun was
fully loaded and functional.

Hayden would be easier to take out. The assassin knew that the younger
man was a yumitori that was trained by his uncle, the eccentric
Mackenzie Christensen that was considered one of the final last true
samurais of the world. Hayden's hands however trembled slightly as he
gripped his wakizashi - a slight tremor that would have unnoticed to
all but a fellow ninja like the assassin who was said to be able to
detect a stray grain of sand in a white floor from six feet away.
Hayden was afraid of the assassin but he was trying very hard to put on
a defiant front even as the slight tremor of his hands betrayed him.

The assassin did not make any move. His face was unmasked. He had no
need to hide his identity because the two men already knew him as well
as he knew them.

"None of us has to die today," the assassin said. "Is he worth losing
your lives for?"

"You can try to take the two of us down," said Julian. Unlike Hayden,
he betrayed no fear. Unlike Hayden, like the assassin, Julian had spent
years killing and fighting for his life, so he had made peace with
death a long time ago. "Even if you succeed, Jeremy and Noam are with
Andy."

The assassin merely smiled insolently even if he cursed in his head.
Jeremy Northam and Noam Jenkins would be even tougher to take down
compared to Julian and his fresh-faced swordsman. A gunman and a
swordsman were both predictable. Jeremy however was unpredictable as
the man had this unusual ability to use any item at his disposal as a
deadly weapon. Noam favored more conventional weapons - usually a pair
of sai - but he was near superhuman in his agility and dexterity.
Taking on two very fast men trained to kill and with unpredictable
styles and movement pattern would test the assassin's abilities to the
limit, especially when he knew that the two men, like Julian, would
make sure that the room would be filled with all kinds of items stacked
to Jeremy's benefit. When Jeremy could and had in the past snuffed out
the life of a hulking four hundred pound (all muscle, not fat)
bodyguard of a Vegas crime boss using only a ballpoint pen, the
assassin could easily imagine that even a vase and a table in a room
would prove deadly in Jeremy's hands.

"He's our friend. We thought you were our friend!" Hayden said, his
voice like his hands containing a barely detectable tremor that
betrayed. no, not fear, like the assassin initially suspected, but
anger.

Hayden was angry that the assassin had betrayed their friendship.

Knowing a little of Hayden's past with Julian, the assassin gave Hayden
an amused look. "Don't tell me you're a hypocrite as well, Hayden. You
know as much as me that friendship is a useful mean to get close to
your target."

"That barb is better off directed at me, Yul," Julian cut in with his
low and icy voice. "I was the one who befriended Hayden to protect his
target, not the other way around. And my friendship with Hayden is
real."

"Yeah? You've brought him here from his beloved's side to that he can
die," Yul told the man, deliberately coating his words with cruel
nonchalance.

Julian didn't flinch but he noticeably swallowed.

"I wanted to come. Andy is a friend of mine who must be protected from
the likes of you," Hayden said.

Despite his better judgment, Yul found himself envying his target for
this protectiveness that Andy had with these people. So many friends
willing to slay dragons and even die for Andy. Yul wondered whether
Andy knew how lucky he was.

"Don't be so dramatic," said Yul. He was loathed to harm even a hair on
any one of these men - Julian, Hayden, Jeremy, and even Noam who had
been slightly suspicious of him from the start. "My orders are to bring
Andy back. I'm not going to harm him."

"Who knows what they would do to Andy if you bring him back!" Hayden
said defiantly.

"I like Michael Weatherly but he can be a mean son of a bitch at the
same time," came Jeremy's voice from above.

Yul looked up and saw Jeremy standing at the balcony, a crossbow in his
well-trained hands with the deadly barb of an arrow aimed straight at
the center of Yul's forehead. "Sorry, I got tired of waiting for you to
show up and play. Can't let Jules and Hayden have all the fun," Jeremy
said with his usual good cheer that often had his opponents
underestimating him.

Yul lunged for Hayden. At the same time something slammed into his back
like the force of a bullet train. It could only be Noam, waiting for an
opportunity to attack Yul from behind. At the same time, Julian fired.
Yul staggered. He felt the touch of a blade against his neck. He closed
his eyes and awaited death.

He opened his eyes a few seconds later. His knee hurt like hell,
although Yul could tolerate pain like he was trained to, since Julian
had deliberately aimed at him there to prevent him from making any more
sudden moves. Hayden pressed his blade against Yul's neck, drawing a
thin slice of blood from the pressure while Noam pressed a blade
against the back of Yul's neck. Jeremy hadn't fired his crossbow but he
held it in a steady aim at Yul. The message was clear: he would fire if
Yul even make any more sudden moves.

"The only reason we haven't killed you is because Andy begged us not
to," Noam whispered into Yul's right ear. "And we all know that your
orders are to exterminate Andy, not to bring him back to the fold. Who
do you think let us know of your moves?"

Damn Michael Weatherly. Noam had deliberately told Yul in a few simple
words that that man, who was known simply as Operations, one of the two
shadowy leaders of the covert organization that Yul belonged to, had
deliberately betrayed him. The reason was obvious: Yul was the tool of
Oversight, Operations' most powerful nemesis. The ultimate heads of the
organization deliberately put two men who hated each other in power so
that one would never overshadow the other in terms of influence and
become too powerful as a result. Operations had made it clear since the
inception of transgenic research that he did not support the research
and he would not lay a finger to contribute in any way to the research.
This was all talk to Yul and the others at first since Operations'
jurisdiction did not cover research and technology development. Yul
knew now however that Michael Weatherly, that fucking bastard, would
not hesitate to covertly sabotage the transgenic research program.

"If you let me go, I'll go after Andy again. You cannot protect him all
the time," Yul said. He closed his eyes as a familiar pain seized his
heart. "If you value your friendship with Andy, kill me."

"There's no need. We'll just set you up and get you put away," said
Jeremy. "We don't do that rampant killing bullshit anymore, didn't I
tell you that? Hear that? The cops are coming. For you, of course."

Yul hissed as Julian unloaded a few more clips into his already damaged
knees.

"There, you're not even going to crawl anywhere," said Julian with
satisfaction.

"Shall we go, gentlemen?" asked Jeremy, his crossbow still aimed at
Yul.

ONE

Three years later

Yul walked along the corridor of the state-of-art detention facility.
This place, unnamed and unmarked on any map of the United States of
America, was designed to hold inconvenient killing machines like him.
It housed the most inhuman - in some cases, literally inhuman - inmates
that would make the most savage third-world country prison look like a
playground in comparison. None dared to even look at Yul as he
confidently walked along the hallway. No guards escorted him. From the
moment three hulking brutes tried to rape Yul in the showers on Yul's
first day in this prison to countless brutally attacked prisoners and
guards later, Yul made it as clear as day that anyone who tried to mess
with him would pay dearly for even trying to. As a result, Yul was left
alone for the last three years. Yul was pleased. He didn't have to rape
anyone to make a point, therefore he didn't have to risk contracting
any diseases, and he on the whole could do pretty well what he wanted.
He wasn't even that lonely because his dearest friend and enemy Oscar
Roddick visited almost daily.

Yul had three years to dwell on how he once tried to kill the man he
had allowed to get under his skin and realized that he would not
survive if he went ahead and destroy Andy. Initially this was an
acceptable consequence as he was a tool of Oversight and he would
simply put a gun to his head when he wanted to join Andy in death.
Oversight allowed him to languish in this prison, however, so Yul
considered his loyalty to that man pretty much done for.

Today was his final day in this prison. It would be terrifying even for
Yul to realize that he was free in more ways than one. He had no longer
any loyalty to Oversight and therefore he was no longer a man living
only to obey orders. He was. free to do whatever he wanted. He didn't
know what he would do with so much terrifying freedom at his hands.

But one thing he knew was clear. Andrew Stephen Roddick finally managed
to get Operations to pull some strings to obtain Yul's freedom. Yul
knew that Michael Weatherly had secured Yul's loyalty, which was
clearly the man's intention behind his aid of Andy, but he didn't
concern himself too much with that fact. He was used to being someone's
tool and weapon, after all. One master was as good as another. Yul
would pledge his loyalty to Michael without any grudge on his part,
however, because Operations allowed him this second chance with Andy.

And there was Andy, waiting in the parking lot, his boyish face giving
Yul a grin as he leaned against his car. It was the very car in which
Yul kissed Andy for the very first time.

"My Harvard genius," Andy started to say. It was his way to tease Yul
just as Yul would like to tease Andy during their happier days for
being the tennis pro. Yul wanted to say, "Hello, my tennis coach," but
he couldn't. He pressed his lips against Andy's in a kiss and his pent-
up lust exploded forth. Andy had the door opened for Yul to get it but
Yul only pushed Andy onto the backseat. Andy wanted it as badly as Yul
too, so he was only happy to pull down his jeans just in time for Yul
to pull down his zip and drove his hard cock into Andy's tight hot ass
and pumped that man hard and furiously.

"We didn't even close the door!" Andy laughed as he sat back against
his seat and let the breeze cool his bare torso. "Was it a new record?
I came in five seconds and I think you came just a few seconds after!"

"Well, I'll be much less quick in the future," promised Yul with a
grin.

"You'd better. I'd hate to imagine that I worked this hard to get you
out only to get a premature ejaculator. Might as well let you kill me
the last time if that is the case." Andy caught Yul's look. "Hey, I'm
just teasing, Yul," he hastened to tell Yul as he reached out his hand
to lightly caress Yul's cheek. "You were doing your job, I understand.
I hope that you know that I have no hard feelings, man, which is why I
am here with you."

Yul had to know. "Why are you here with me, Andy?"

"Because I love you, you silly ass," Andy said. He might as well hit
Yul in the chest with a hammer. He might as well been discussing the
weather, given his light tone when he made the announcement.

"You l-l-l-love me?" Yul had never stammered in his life until now.

"Of course. But if you're sure you love me back, you don't have to
force yourself to tell me anything until you're ready to do so," said
Andy. He grinned at Yul. "Yul, you love me too, you know. It's one of
those things that just happened when we met each other and hit off so
easily."

"I was pretending to be your friend to get close to you," Yul started
to say.

"And you eventually realized that you were not pretending anymore,"
Andy told him. "I understand."

"How can you understand?" asked Yul. He was getting frustrated now. "I
don't really understand what I am feeling nowadays."

"Hey, I'm a robot, remember?" Andy reminded the other man. "I'm
programmed to analyze emotions accurately."

TWO

Andy Roddick was a robot. As Yul kissed the supple skin along Andy's
back reverently, he knew that Andy might appear human to the people
around him, underneath Andy's very human skin and muscles were
circuitry and components designed by the most elite of human
intelligence to allow Andy to move and act with speed and strength
beyond human capabilities. Andy's human brain allowed him to remain
human enough to fit in this world, but the brain was modified and
enhanced with chips and wires. Andy didn't eat or drink since he had no
digestive system. Instead, he obtained his fuel from gas stations and
drank it the way a human would drink coffee.

Yul teased a purr of pleasure from Andy as he let the tip of his tongue
trace the faint square outline of the fleshy panel at the lowest point
of Andy's back. Earlier, Andy had allowed the panel to come loose so
that Yul could reattach a wire that had come loose during a
particularly intense orgasm of Andy. Andy could still feel pleasure as
his skin still had all the necessary nerve ends and G-spots. While
Andy's cock could be programmed into becoming erect, Andy couldn't
really experience orgasm when he was using his cock on another person.
However, with Yul, Andy learned that he could experience sexual
pleasure by letting Yul fuck him in the ass. His anus was especially
sensitive to contact and friction so every time Yul's cock filled and
emptied his anus, Andy's nerves were set on fire until his entire body
threatened to heat up from the unbelievably pleasurable sensations that
seized his body.

As Yul plunged his thick cock into Andy's anus, Andy arched his back
and cried Yul's name out in joy. His beautiful green-blue eyes were
tinged with red as his system was sent into overdrive. Yul didn't care
if he was fucking a man who was more machine than man. His cock was in
a hot and tight ass, but the veins in his cock burned as that cock
plunged in and out of an anus that was clearly different from that of
Yul's previous human lovers. The muscular walls of Andy's anus were
unnaturally smooth as if they were made from plastic-like material. Yul
didn't mind the differences at all because Andy's insides heat up as
Andy approached orgasm and the increasing heat only stimulated Yul's
cock to an intense degree. When Andy came, his anus would release a
jolt of electrical energy that would cause every nerve end on Yul's
cock to be aroused to breaking point, causing Yul to experience an
orgasm that was so intense every time that he was sure his heart would
explode during his ecstasy.

"Yul! Oh yes, I'm coming! Give it to me, love!" Andy cried out as Yul
fucked him harder until the motel room echoed with the sounds of their
loud slapping flesh and the violent creaks of the bed. And then there
was a shocking release of electrical energy on Yul's cock that caused
his pubic hair to stand on their ends. Yul's already sensitized cock
swelled even harder as Yul cried out in pleasure. He was pouring every
drop he had to offer into his lover until his balls ached and he felt
drained to the very core of his being.

Because Andy's rectum was not continuous with any part of his body, it
became a pleasant after-fuck routine for Andy to spread the cheeks of
his asshole and knelt over Yul's head as Yul hungrily lapped at his
semen that he had deposited up Andy's ass. Sometimes Andy would lay
back and Yul would eat out of his ass instead. Yul would lap and suck
at Andy's well-fucked ass until he had a mouthful of come, which he
then shared with Andy with lusty kisses. Andy couldn't taste the come
but he could feel the pleasurable sensations of being kissed and having
Yul's cock plunging in and out of his mouth.

Being a robot, he didn't have a gag reflex so he could take Yul in his
mouth all the way to Yul's balls without any effort. Now that they both
no longer had to hide their real identities from each other, Andy
opened his mouth wide and effortlessly took every inch Yul had to give
until Yul was fucking his mouth violently the way he could never do
with another man. Andy deliberately made swallowing sounds and his
throat moved accordingly in its peristaltic rhythm just to keep up the
human pretense, but his pleasure was genuine. He loved the feel of a
cock in his mouth and the nerve ends along his throat and in his mouth
were on fire. Sure enough, he experienced an intense orgasm just from
sucking Yul's cock. When Yul ejaculated down his throat with a
masculine roar, Andy effortlessly swallowed every drop. However, he
made sure he acted like he was having at least a little difficulty in
handling Yul's huge load for the sake of realism.

And then Yul was kissing Andy again, his tongue sensually rubbing and
teasing Andy's as the man drank some of the juices still in Andy's
mouth. Yul's cock was still hard despite his orgasm. Andy pushed Yul
back down on the bed and straddled the man. As he rode Yul's cock, he
didn't mind for once that he was not completely human. He could go on
and on for as long as Yul wanted, and as a result, he'd bet Yul would
never settle for a mere human lover again after having experienced him.

"What are you thinking?" asked Yul quietly from where he was lying on
the bed, watching Andy.

"About me. You." Andy sighed and turned to look at Yul. The room was
dark but he could active night vision and see Yul's face perfectly.
"Mostly me and my wires."

Yul didn't misunderstand. "You're good enough for me. Remember how we
first met? You and me, in that club, with you teaching me how to play
tennis? I thought you were so cute back then."

"And you were such a terrible player. You still are," said Andy with a
chuckle.

"Yeah? Maybe if I can analyze the speed of the ball and all that, I
would be as good as you," Yul said.

Andy laughed. It was only with Yul that he was relaxed enough to laugh
about Yul's teasings about his robotic aspects. Ever since he was
created, he realized that he was different from the men who performed
tests on him and later gave him missions to carry out. He realized that
he preferred being with people rather than killing them. When he
discovered that he was being targeted for termination due to his
"system flaws", he ran. He had been running until he met the rogue
transgenic James Hyde who introduced him to Michael Weatherly. Michael
had been protecting him ever since. It was Michael who warned Andy
about Yul but Andy ignored his warnings, knowing even then that Yul was
his destiny. It wasn't just mathematics, it was how his still human
heart beat faster when he was with Yul, just like how he felt as if he
was at home finally when he was with Yul. He knew Yul felt the same way
too. They were both outsiders who found a place to belong in each
other's arms.

"I didn't know who my parents are. So to me, you're my father, brother,
and lover," Yul had told him a few weeks after Andy began visiting the
man in his prison. Yul placed his palm against the glass, against
Andy's palm on the other side, and they both cursed the glass pane from
preventing them from touching. "And my friend." He looked at Andy,
confusion clear on his face. "And I tried to kill you. because I was
trained to follow orders above all. You should have been above all,
Andy. I know that now. Can you forgive me?"

"Sure," Andy told Yul. He understood. He had been trained to follow
orders above everything. Only, maybe because he was a robot, he quickly
realized the fallacy of such a way to live. Yul was teaching Andy a lot
about accepting and even appreciating the non-human aspects of himself.
Yul however didn't have the same advantages as Andy so Andy couldn't
blame the man for being human. He had deliberately played the weak and
terrified victim to Jeremy and Julian who had become his friends
through Michael and those men along with their friends came to Andy's
"rescue" like he and Michael thought they would.

Everything worked out well, Andy thought, pleased, as he reached over
to give Yul a sleepy kiss.

THREE

Yul rammed his elbow into Noam's stomach. As Noam fell back, Yul
followed with a roundhouse kick that saw the sole of his foot pinning
Noam by the neck against wall. He exerted enough force to hold the man
against the wall some inches off the floor but not enough to cut off
Noam's breathing or cause any pain.

"I am starting to believe that your legendary speed is overrated," said
Yul as he removed his foot. "Or are you deliberately holding back on
me?"

"Shut up, Yul. No need to rub it in," Noam said as he rubbed his neck.
"I was caught unaware, that was all."

"Yeah, just like I was when you hit me in the back those years ago,"
Yul couldn't resist saying.

"Fuck you," Noam said, but his voice lacked any heat. "I probably
deserved that," he said.

"You did the right thing though," Yul told him. "I'm always grateful
for you and the others for protecting Andy from me."

"He's a nice kid. Doesn't deserve whatever shit your boss had in mind
for him."

"Ex-boss." Yul dusted some dirt from his dark trousers. He and Noam
were at the roof of a building in the city. He didn't know which
building. He followed Noam without really caring where they were going,
intending only to deliver some playful payback on Noam. "So, what are
you doing at this time of the night? You were supposed to be a quiet
shareholder and harmless society fop by day. and Batman by night?"

"None of your business, Yul."

"Andy is away and I'm bored. My neat little office job only keeps me
occupied from nine to five. You could use a little help, I'm sure."

Yul blinked when he realized that he was addressing the empty air. He
caught a brief sight of the top of Noam's head as the man leapt off the
roof. "You're not getting away so easily," Yul said, enjoying himself
now, as he leapt off the building after Noam.

While Yul was giving chase to Noam thousands of feet from the ground,
Andrew Roddick was playing chess with the man known as Oversight.

"Check mate," Oversight said, moving his queen in place. "You lose,
Andy."

"So you've got me," Andy said. "Damn."

"You have some fucking nerves walking in here as if you own this
place," Oversight said as he placed his pieces back in place on the
board. "Another game?"

"Sure," Andy said with regards to the game. "You offered me an open
invitation to come back here. I just happened to come back here alive
rather than in pieces like you expected."

"So Yul failed me." Oversight shrugged as if he couldn't care much
about the problem. "I'll just kill him and then you."

"Yul assumed from Noam's words that Operations betrayed him," said
Andy. He took a deep breath. "It was you, not Operations, who betrayed
Yul. Am I right?"

Oversight smiled and studied Andy's face. "You're only part human. I
remembered how they brought in the body of the man that you once were.
You were the sole survivor of a car crash that took out your family
members - oh, don't look at me like that, none of us had anything to do
with the accident. I ordered them to fix you up. Because of him."

"Him?"

"Yul," Oversight said bluntly. "My son."

Andy took a harsh intake of breath, shocked.

"Yul didn't know, of course. He's my son. His mother was once of the
best spies we've ever had, until she died for the cause." Oversight
calmly moved his pawn forward on the chessboard. "I would probably
never forgive her for not telling me about our son. But I can
understand why she chose to do so. Our lives were harsh and we rarely
find our happy endings in this life. If Madeline told me that she
wanted our son to live as a normal person, I'd agree with her. She just
didn't trust me after all I did for her."

Andy couldn't bear to watch the pained emotions flicker on the face of
the man he had considered his enemy for so long. "Why are you telling
me this? And why did you betray Yul?" he had to ask.

"You came here looking for answers. You are thinking of Yul and not
yourself when you first came here, am I right? You are hoping that I
would consider sparing Yul's life, perhaps even bargain for Yul's life
with yours."

"Actually, I came here hoping to kill you," confessed Andy. He moved
his pawn across the board.

Oversight laughed. "I like you. I always thought it was a pity that we
couldn't eradicate the last of your humanity. But when I saw you with
him." He paused, to capture Andy's knight with his bishop and to think
before he speak next. "Or perhaps Madeline knew that I am not as strong
as I believe I am," he said finally, "because I am also a father to Yul
as much as I am Oversight. You're the expert in human emotions here,
Andy. Tell me, how do you think I felt when I saw a video transmission
of Yul laughing when he was with you? I've never heard Yul laugh all
the time I knew him until you came along. The father in me wanted Yul
to keep laughing with you while as the Oversight I know I must order
your termination and make Yul follow through with his orders."

"So you deliberately let Operations solve your dilemma for you."

Oversight chuckled. "You came here looking for answers, Andy. You've
got it. Now leave."

Andy stood up and hesitated.

"As far as I'm concerned, you've been terminated. Operations had filed
a claim on Yul to the board, and I'm letting Yul go to him. You're both
free of me."

"That's all?"

"That's all," said the man. "And Andy, I will be keeping tabs on my
son. If I hear that you've broken his heart, you'll be hearing from me.
Make him happy. That's an order."

Andy smiled. "Should I tell Yul?" he asked.

Oversight smiled shrewdly at Andy. "What do you think, Andy?"

Stupid robot, the man known as Operations thought with uncharacteristic
pettiness as he watched the door close behind Andy. He waited for a few
heartbeats, aware of the heavy silence in his house now that Andy had
left.

He didn't have to wait long before he felt the vibration of the
communication chip in his brain. He only had to think of activating it
to do so. At the other end, the person contacting him had a similar
device implanted in his brain. It was a link that none of their
superiors were aware of.

"Did it go well?" came the thought of the person at the other end.

"Yeah, just like you said, Michael." Oversight said begrudgingly. He
hated it when Operations was right.
