The Taboo Report: Commentary

Greetings from the network hub in Sin City.

In this weeks report I believe it necessary to discuss the situation on the set of Taboo TV's No. 1 series, 'Cumming Out: Hawaiian Style'. The MEGA news is obviously, as you read here last week, that this season's new co-host, Jamie Lynn Spears, has been released from her contract after only nine episodes. This decision was made primarily by Executive Producer Mackenzie Rosman, as she is in charge of the day-to-day operation of the show. But following last weeks report and the subsequent coverage by the other major news outlets (CNC, FAUX NEWS), I thought it a good idea to explain the company's position on this unfortunate set of circumstances.

Mackenzie Rosman has informed me that the harmony on set since the beginning of the season has been less than what was desired due to the actions of Jamie Lynn, which involved numerous documented incidents of Jamie Lynn's on-set tantrums. A notable one that involved her screaming at the two youngest cast members of this season, Dakota Fanning and Miley Cyrus, which resulted in a near on-set brawl.  So after having reviewed all of the details provided by Mackenzie and personally talking to Hayden, Dakota and Miley, I decided that Mackenzie's decision was correct.

I'd also like to make clear that I am in favor of Mackenzie's chosen replacement, that being ABC's 'One Life To Live' star Kristen Alderson, who has officially signed on. She is said to be in awe of the opportunity she has received and actually called me personally to thank me.

In the end, the unfortunate side effect of this horrible and painful situation has been that 'Cumming Out: Hawaiian Style' has been off the air more than on since the airing of it's first six episodes. Along with that, delays in the production of Mackenzie's other series, 'Willa's Wild World' had forced it off the air as well. Thankfully the production delays seemed to be behind us, as 'Wild World' returned last week and 'Hawaiian Style' is on schedule to return to the air on Tuesday, February 26th. Mark your calendars. See ya next week.

Top Story...
The 'Tanned Princess' Issues Legal Threat: In this week's top story, which is still breaking as I write this, Jamie Lynn Spears has informed me that she intends to file suit against the parent company of this network, AME (American Media Entertainment), for wrongful termination. Involving her firing from the network's top rated series,  'Cumming Out: Hawaiian Style'. Jamie Lynn has retained an attorney, F.P. Bailey, and through his office I was informed that she fully intends to seek monetary damages for not only wrongful termination but also emotional distress. Mr. Bailey said, "Ms. Spears has suffered financially and emotionally from this unwarranted termination of her contract from one of this country's most popular shows. We intend to have our day in court and force Ms. Rosman and the Corporation behind her to explain what exactly it was that required Ms. spears to be fired from a job she held dear. Also make no mistake, Ms. Spears was promised the leading role if the show were to be extended to another season, which at this point looks like a good possibility."

If you think this threat is being taken lightly by the network you would be dead wrong, as AME C.E.O Samuel "Sam" Anderson & Taboo TV Vice President, Terri Van Martin, have scheduled a company wide conference call for later this week to discuss this very topic. Many at the network hub in L.A. are saying 'off the record' that the possibility of a deal being struck between Jamie and the network grows stronger every day. Both sides would definitely benefit from this little mess going away as quick as possible.

I say, give Jamie Lynn her own show to shut the spoiled brat up once and for all. I'll have complete details next week in this column if anything further develops.

...and now the rest of the news
Sasha Cohen Gets the 'Scent of a Girl': Former Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen has been tapped to take over the role of Courtney Melrose beginning with the February 11th episode (intitled 'My Mouth Said That Not My Brain'). This is said to be the beginning of a major storyline for the character which had only appeared twice previously. When contacted for a quote on this story, Ms Cohen said, "I'm looking forward to being a lesbian" *laughs* "The Courtney character seems to be a real troublemaker and I can definitely get into playing a role like that."

Rhythm & Blues is 'Special': '...The Beat' has learned that Taboo TV has ordered not one, but two 'special' ONE HOUR episodes of the new Monday night series, 'Rhythm & Blues'. Some may take this as a sign that the network likes what it saw from the shows ratings in weeks one and two. Never the less the network has made clear that much like 'Kiss My Ashlyn', 'Rhythm' is scheduled to also be a limited series. The first of the two 'special' episodes has been scheduled for February 18th and will preempt a regularly scheduled episode of 'Jessie and Katie (in Friends and Lovers)' on that night. The second 'special' hour long episode will serve as the Series Finale on April 7th.

The Country Goes 'Twinsanity': Following a blockbuster premiere a week ago, many suspected that newcomer 'Cumming Out: Dakota & Twinsanity' would come back to earth this week. NOPE. In news that just amazes me, 'Twinsanity', actually added viewers in week two, rising by 3 percent over it's already massive premiere night audience. Making it, for the second week in a row, cable's top rated show. Mackenzie Rosman has to be laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

...But Feels A Little Less Wild About Willa: Now for a little news on the flip side of the ratings issue, it appears that 'Willa's Wild World' may not have the staying power that last week indicated. It had held onto an astounding 86% of the lead-in audience from one week ago, but that dropped by 12% in week two of the Dakota/Willa combo night. Meaning the series was only able to manage a 74% retention rate from it's 'Twinsanity' lead-in. Still placing it in the top 5 programs on all of cable for the week. And why are we complaining exactly?

...and that's all the news that is news for now...
