I believe it was intended to warn little girls of the dangers of wondering and walking threw the woods. Warning or to scare a child of meeting strangers mainly men or boys that could take advantage of them, knowing child predators were around since the dawn of time parents had to warn their girls to protect their sweet innocence. During the dark ages RAPE only protected adult women, it was not conceivable that a child girl could be raped or sexually abused according to the law. Hence there were no laws protecting them or any children from anything like today's world has. The only protection a child had then was their parents and their teachings, but still some girls never learn just like little red ridding hood. She talked to the wolf and as the story tells she nearly got killed by the wolf until the woodsman stepped in likely her father. Had he not arrived when he did she would likely have been raped and killed and her grandmother was likely killed by the wolf most likely a pedophile or child molester depending on your opinion of the words to use. The fact remains Red told the wolf were she was going and why she was going, she likely knew him or she may not have talked to a perfect stranger. She gave the wolf enough details to decide how to defeat her and plan his attack lucky for her daddy the woodsman decided to stop by his mothers house to look in on her or he would have found his mother and darling daughter raped and dead in the wooded cabin. They used the wolf to bring the story to a child's understanding but like a wolf a pedophile is a predator and sneaky like a wolf and will do anything to meet their needs or goal for that child. This meant woods dark alleys or any other place a young girl could be caught alone. To this very day stupid little girl's of many ages wonder off into the woods and other places alone. Leaving themselves open to the big bad wolves of the world even spoken of in the song of SAM THE SHAM&THE PHARAOHS 1966 "Lil' Red Riding Hood" The wolf stalks her and plots against her, it seems harder these days to stalk a little girl but a patient man waits for the nature of a young girl to drop her guard and do something stupid they always do. I have witnessed many a girls from 5-15 do these very things and ignore all the warnings taught them until it was to late, and before they knew it everything was all over and their dress was ripped and shredded. little girls living near wooded areas are the best, they frolic around in their yard first wondering into the tree line. Then unaware of their surroundings curiosity gets the better of them and they wonder deeper into the woods, and pretty soon are confused of how they got there or where they are never mind the stranger that had been watching all along. He walks up and offers to help her but because he is a stranger turns and runs except unknowingly runs deeper into the woods, with him slowly following her knowing her fate and waiting for her to wear out so she cant put up much of a fight. Then he reaches her crying scared and lost and tired, he offers to help her again and she accepts but he just laughs as he begins to push the girl to the ground and rip her clothes off, barley able to scream the child screams get off me and its too late he just slaps her with the back of his hand and knocks her out cold. This is all so true for parks camp grounds fishing holes and beaches or anyplace girls are free to roam. I am sure it happens to boys as well but not as much or not as reported. The morel of the story is little girls should listen to the warnings and if the hair on the back of your neck goes up run as fast as you can screaming as loud as you can you might escape. THE FOLLOWING CHAPTERS ARE ABOUT THE GIRLS THAT FAILED TO LISTEN AND WELL READ ON.
