Two things:
1) Tell "iguana" that fur-lined manacles, a.k.a. "Love Cuffs" are available

2) Do you think you could come up with a more innocuous heading for the
digest mailing list messages? It's kind of embarrassing when others
inadvertently walk into my cubicle when I'm screening my mail in the
morning and "Perverts and Weirdos Digest" comes up! If you abbreviated
it to "P&W Digest" you not only would solve that problem but the heading
would then be short enough for me to see the volume number as well.

This is primarily in response to Craig's letter suggesting that he
start doing Male Dom/Female Sub Master/Slave computer domination via
email. I heartily support this move. I have been the one (Mistress
Sunny) running the email Fem Dom/Male Sub, and Craig has been one of my
computer slaves. While I have found this to be very enjoyable and
somewhat educational, I have a few comments about the overall situation
as it has evolved, which may or may not be useful in general, or to
those considering doing its flip-side.
My entire approach to this was to prompt my slaves each individually to
submit to me their fantasy as to what would happen when they arrived
and met their Mistress. I would then continue an email dialog with
each one, encouraging him to, as much as he could stand within his own
limits which I kept pushing, try to bring his fantasy into reality.
The biggest limits which occurred for most of my dozen slaves were,
time, money, and physical distance. Some more or less fell by the
wayside, indicating that they had only ever intended that their
fantasy should remain fantasy. Others got very VERY into it.
One has suggested that it would be interesting to share the various
fantasies amongst the slaves in an anonymous fashion. The ultimate
outcome of these games has not yet been achieved, they are still
in progress, and some are scheduling physical visits in order to
enact their fantasies.
This weekend I attended my orientation meeting with the San Francisco
chapter of the Society of Janus, an educational organization for those
interested in S&M, B&D, &/| D&S. I got to meet slightly more than half
a dozen members and as many interested newcomers. After the meeting I
got to enact one of my favorite and most intense submissive fantasies
with another applicant. Fun...

I too have fantisized about radio "slave controls" and "shockers". The problem
for me is much more the legal and distribution problem than anything else.
The state where I live is nothing short of opprssive when it comes to sex.
For example our ex-governer once claimed that "ther were NO gays in our state"!!
Anyway I have been a Ham for some thirty years and an Electrical Engineer for
almost 20 so the actual construction of such a device is not a big problem.
I agree that some form of current limiting needs to be built in, and probably
some form of pulsed shock would be the safest while giving the most "bang for
the buck". I am thinking here of electric fences etc. which use similar
principals.
The radio portion is a little harder, but is mostly a question of cost. For
$1000 + a state wide, totaly foolproof system is possible, but I doubt if
many people would pay that much. A 1 block area with proportional controls
(2 to four channels) should be easy to build by modifying commercially
available parts and should cost anywhere from $100 to $300 retail.
My main question is whether there is a market and how to handle distribution.
If there is enough interest then we could work these out. What does everyone
say?

Bill's interest in erotic electricity raises some old curiosities of mine,
not yet explored; I'm more interested in "Male inflicting on Female"
applications, but many of the principles should be the same.
Is shock usable only, as Bill describes, for pain/punishment? Is there
some level of electrical stimulation to the right places that appears as
tickling arousal? Perhaps the current must be applied over a significant
patch of skin for this effect. I'm thinking of the "painless workout"
muscle-stimulation devices that were a recent fad. Imagine having the
muscles of your erogenous zones involuntarily contract at the whim of your
master/mistress!
How about using piercings (nipple rings, for instance) as
electrical-stimulation application points? This should allow greatly
reduced voltages, and thus greatly-reduced risks of local burning.
Shocking the slave when the mistress has a vaginal contraction seems
analogous to shocking a slave when the master has an erection. Sometimes
this isn't what a master wants to punish; instead, at least for my tastes,
the setup should reward the sex slave for causing, sustaining, and
increasing the master's sexual pleasure and punish for failure to do so.
Thus I'd like to see a version (after the safety issue is solved!), in
which the punishment shock happens when the master's erection goes down or
has stayed down for 5 minutes. This would provide really useful "training"
over time, reinforcing a good slave's natural concern for her master's
state of arousal.
I'd like to hear a little more hardware-hacker detail: what voltage and
current levels do you use? What contacts or connections do you make to the
slave's body for delivering the shocks, and how do you mount or carry the
receiver unit?

Susan has three "special" words (they are a private secret, so I won't
reveal them). None of the words is "stop", or "that hurts" or anything
one might normally say to quit. That way she can protest without
calling a halt to the action. The three words have these meanings
#1 Stop everything immediately (your escape word)
#2 This is getting too intense, tone it down
#3 I'd like you to increase the action
She often uses words 2 and 3 -- this allows her to tune the pace
of a session to her own needs, without actually interrupting what's
happening. She has never had to use the #1 escape word, but the
letters we posted were describing her most severe session ever (you may
have noticed that <other couple> are really heavily into S&M -- we felt
we had to describe our most intense session to interest them in
corresponding with us). The session described lasted about 2 1/2 hours.
She's been in bondage much longer, but not as stringently for that
amount of time before or since.

Susan found a regular pair of black, 3" spiked heels at a local shoe
store (I asked her the price and she thinks it was around 25 dollars).

I modified the standard belt-style clasp to close with a small pair of
padlocks (like the girls wore in the Seagram's commercial with Bruce
Willis). All that is required is to replace the metal pin in each clasp
with a somewhat larger, flat piece of metal with a hole in it. The
small holes in the end strap had to be enlarged to fit the larger pin.
The result looks kinda of this:

The single strap high on the ankle already looks like bondage
equipment, but the locks complete the effect. Since the clasp works
with or without the lock, Susan can wear the shoes out to dinner or
a party, but she hasn't had to wear them out in public while they were
locked. Yet :-)

A very interesting letter was written to Bondage Life recently about a
similar home-built device. The couple have a variety of vibrators with
an assortment of locking clothing, belts and harnesses. The cords to
the vibrators had been modified to have a small phone-jack end, so they
could be plugged into
1. A power supply with a manually controlled rheostat
2. A power supply with a pseudo-random controller (good for
self-bondage).
3. A power supply connected to a telephone beeper. That way the
master/mistress could activate the device from work by merely
dialing the phone.
This last box sounds much like your application, and beepers are
usually well designed to avoid false triggering. This is not quite as
flexible as a hand-held transmitter, but it has a 30 mile range.
When I was in high school I (Robert) played around with self bondage,
and I built a shocker out of a radio shack experimenter's kit. I
wasn't nearly as sophisticated electonically, then, so my device was
just an oscillator with a step up transformer, run from two AA
batteries, and had none of the safety features you ask about. But
since it was manually controlled, and I always made sure I could tear
the wires loose if need be, I didn't fry myself. My favorite way to
use it was to wire the current from a rectal electrode to a 1/16"
diameter steel pin inserted in the uretha. I never turned the current
up so high that it was painful, but I could get some very nice
"buzzing" sensations all through my penis.
Today, neither Susan nor I are into electrical shocks. Susan has no
interest in trying it at all, and it seems to sinister to me to inflict
it on someone else.

I've been toying with the idea of sensory deprivation techniques in sex-play.
I recently read _The Cardinal in the Kremlin_, yet another Tom Clancy spy
novel. In _TCitK_ a minor spy-personage is "tortured" in this way. In a
nutshell, she is drugged unconscious without warning. Next, they place
her in a ultra-thin rubber wetsuit. Then, they place her into a salt-water
filled tank <she is of course being fed air> where she is neutrally buoyant.
Then, they basicly leave her alone for about 11 hours <all this time, they
are carefully monitoring her vital statistics in order to avert any sort of
insanity or seisure>.
During this entire time, she is unaware of how she got where she is, or even
where she is. Her brain starts to play tricks on her. She can feel, see,
hear, and taste nothing. She starts to hallucinate, and after they feel she
is sufficiently disoriented, they bring her out and question her.
I had heard of experiments like this performed at the U. of MI several years
ago. I'm somewhat curious if the Psychology Department at my university
is currently playing with these techniques <I'd like to arrange to accidently
become a volenteer, but perhaps I know too much about the technique for it
to work effectively<?>>.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had played with sensory deprivation to a
lesser degree. The techniques used for total sensory deprivation can be quite
dangerous if not handled properly <insanity, panic which can cause heart attack
and other consequences>. However, sensory deprivation to a lesser extent,
perhaps with longer periods, is something that could be worked on in a bedroom
or playroom. In professional experiments, the victim becomes disoriented, is
able to follow orders and answer direct questions, but the brain's censorship
circuits are <temporarily> nonfunctional. This basicly places the victim under
the total control of the first personality<ies> encountered after being
released.
In the bedroom or playroom, various setups could be achieved. Something like
a dark padded cell ranging to something more elaborate <and effective> like
being put in a wetsuit, then a straight jacket, bound, gaged and blindfolded,
and then placed in a hottub/spa. This would come pretty close to the UofMI
experiments.
Bondage is an extremely "mental" sexual act. S&M accentuates sex with
"pleasureful pain", and B&D often does the same <sometimes not>. This is
sort of the opposite, but I'm wondering if SD might make a great precursor
<part of> a session. The victim really is under total control, it's not
play acting, so there must be the utmost trust between lovers. Any stimuli
that occurs after freedom would be heightened immensely.
Any ideas?

I will, against my better judgement, throw in my two cents worth on
this topic before someone electrocutes himself or someone else. I
advise very strongly against playing with electricity unless you
understand not only the physics but also the physiology involved.
There are some areas of the body which are very sensitive to anomalous
current, particularly the head, neck and chest.
If you are determined to experiment with the sexual uses of electricity,
I suggest looking into a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator (TENS)
unit. These devices are often prescribed by doctors for people with
back pain and muscle spasms. I don't know if they are available
commercially.
The type I have is a Dynex II model 2005. It consists of a control unit
with two independently controlled channels, each driving a pair of
conductive rubber pads. Each channel can be controlled for intensity,
with a combined control for pulse rate, pulse width and mode.
I have never experimented with this as a sex toy, but I assume that
it will not do permanent damage if used according to the instructions.
When in use, the sensation in the back ranges from a slight tingling
sensation to slightly painful, depending on the selected intensity.
