If you're not both of those, don't read it. Characters in a FANTASY don't get sick or die unless I want them to. In real life, people who don't use condoms and other safe-sex techniques do get sick and die. You don't live in a FANTASY so be safe. The fictional characters in my stories are trained and experienced in acts of FANTASY - don't try to do what they do - someone could get hurt. If you think you know somebody who resembles any of the characters here, congratulations, but you're wrong - any similarity between the characters in this story and any real person is purely coincidental, since all of these characters are figments of my dirty little imagination. This is my story, not yours. Don't sell it or put it on a pay site. You can keep it and/or give it away with all of this information intact, but if you make money off of it without my permission, you're breaking the law and pissing me off. _________________________________ Body Guards II: Stolen Secrets - Prologue (C)Copyright 2005 - Shakes Peer2B shakes_peer2b@NONOsbcglobal.net (remove 'NONO' from the above address to contact me) http://storiesonline.net/library/author.php?name=Shakes_Peer2B /files/Authors/Shakes_Peer2B/ ________ The shrilling of the phone on the nightstand yanked Steve Hastings from a deep, restful sleep. Sometime during the night, his cock had slipped from Judy's ass, and his lovely wife slept peacefully on. On the other side of her recumbent form, however, Mei, one of Steve's bodyguards stared alertly at him through the dim moonlight that filtered through the windows. "Yes." he answered quietly, putting the cordless handset to his ear, just as Wei slipped quietly into the room, checking the telltales on her handheld display. "One of the secure disks has left the building without being logged out." Sun's voice at the other end of the line was calm and matter-of-fact. "The auto-wipe did not operate." "Which one?" "DVD-Proteus-0001.5." The duty security chief replied. "The latest revision of the Proteus system schematics." "You're tracking?" he asked, struggling to keep his voice calm, despite the adrenalin pumping through his system. "Yes." Sun replied. "Jun is following. We have identified the perpetrator from the security videos and will apprehend him once delivery is made. It is one of the Government people." "Wei will relieve you so you can join your sister." Steve said. "Good work, Sun." "Thank you, Steve." Sun disconnected. Mei was already fully clothed and looked perfectly groomed, despite having helped Steve screw the daylights out of his wife only a few hours ago. Wei handed her the telltale panel for the estate and disappeared. "You and Wei heard?" Steve asked quietly, pulling on his own clothing. Mei only nodded. Her supersensitive hearing had picked up the sounds emanating from the earpiece as easily as if she had been the one holding it. As Steve finished dressing, Mei disappeared to make a physical check of the estate, just in case the theft was a diversion. Half an hour later, as Hastings' Prius exited the freeway, his cell phone rang. Tapping the button on the Bluetooth headset rather than waiting for the phone to auto-answer, he said, "Hastings." "The drop has been made." Jun said without preamble. "We have the perpetrator in custody. Sun is watching the drop box. It's in a locker at the Greyhound station in San Francisco." "Thanks, Jun." At first he had had great difficulty differentiating the voices of girls from each other, but now, thanks, in part, to their training, he could tell them apart even over the phone. "Has the thief said anything?" "He's demanding a lawyer." Jun said, "I will know more after I've had a little time with him at one of the safe-houses." Steve didn't want to know HOW she would know more, but was certain she would. The disc, of course, was no longer a problem. There were backups, and Wei had already activated the remote-wipe function of the DVD. Everyone with access to the secure discs knew that if they were removed from their storage facility without a valid password, the discs would automatically be wiped. They assumed that that was a function of the storage device. What only Bob, the CTO, who had developed the system, Steve, and the four bodyguards knew, was that each DVD had a built in power supply and embedded circuitry that could respond to signals from the security system run by the four lovely Chinese ladies. The media could be read by the hardware on any computer, but it could only be written by special devices, and all it took to erase every trace of data was a momentary pulse at a certain frequency, applied to the conductive strata layered on each side of the data layer. Steve had considered selling this technology to the government in addition to his other products, but realized that it was worth more, for the time being, as a means of keeping his bread-and-butter products safe. 'How many more billions do we need, anyway?' was the primary argument he used to convince himself and the CTO to hang on to this little tidbit. Besides, he wasn't too keen on helping out this new administration. That was part of the reason the Proteus project hadn't yet gone up for bid. Somebody had decided to jump the gun, and it didn't look good that the thief was a government employee. He was on his second cup of coffee, and the sky outside his office window was beginning to lighten when Jun called again. "He knows nothing." She told him. "He was recruited by phone, paid electronically and received his instructions via email. Wei has the copies. She's tracking the accounts but this is looking like a very sophisticated operation. I doubt if she will find anything useful." "Is he still in good enough shape to turn over to the FBI?" Hastings asked. "Yes." Jun replied, a hint of a sneer in her voice. "I didn't have to do anything to him. He caved under some creative threats." "And you're sure of his information?" "It's confirmed by his phone logs and email." Jun replied. "I will turn all that over to the FBI when I hand him over. My guess is that he was a sacrificial pawn. Whoever hired him knew he would be caught." "So this promises to be a merry chase indeed..." Steve mused. He was still not as quick to see all the nuances of a situation as his four lovely bodyguards, but he was getting better with long association and training. So much for the Government conspiracy theory. Less than an hour later, Sun called in. "The pickup was made by a Darren Winchell. He is a former US Navy Seal, now working as a confidential courier." Sun reported, probably having had Wei run the background check before she called. "He has a reputation for both reliability and honesty. We have even used him on occasion." "I remember the guy." Hastings replied. "Supposedly, he's never failed to complete a delivery. Must be another blind hire. I can't see this guy taking on something like this. Let's see where he takes it, but stay out of sight. Whoever planned this probably knows enough about our security to be on the lookout for you and your sisters. Be careful, Sun. We won't lose any data this time, so don't put yourself or Jun in danger." "We are always careful, Steve." Sun replied softly. "But your concern is appreciated."
