This is just an introductory chapter to a multi-chapter novel. 
Trust me - the story gets much more involved as it progresses. 
Like every good story, it needs a good introduction to identify
the main characters.  If you don't want to read a story absent of
sexual activities, please proceed straight to Chapter 3.

This story is dedicated to Karen Wagner, who created this genre
and encouraged other authors to use her theme.

Friday, mid-September, the first week of the school year

Over the intercom a loud voice makes an announcement.  "Can I
have your attention please?  Sixth period will be cut short
today.  In just a few minutes the bell will ring.  All students
are to report to the assembly hall.  I repeat, at the next bell,
please report to the assembly hall for a special announcement."

Natalie is sitting in her Social Studies class when the
announcement was made.  The voice sounded familiar, but the
distortion from the intercom made it difficult to pinpoint who it
was.  Being newly enrolled at Philmore Academy and just three
days into the school year, she could only guess what the `special
announcement' would entail.  The bell rings and she stuffs her
books into her backpack and heads down the hall towards the
assembly hall.  Within minutes, Natalie is sitting in the
bleachers with a few girls she has befriended since the school
year began.  She notices the girls appear nervous, twirling their
hair or fidgeting their fingers.

"What is this all about?" Natalie asks.

As Dean Larson walks onto the stage, approaching the podium, one
of the girls answer, "I'm sure it's about the Naked in School
Program."

The words hit Natalie like a ton of bricks.  She hasn't heard a
thing about the program since her interview in the Dean's office
several weeks ago.  Natalie was hoping they had simply changed
their mind about rolling it out.  She has flashbacks of the
photos in the brochure and what she was told about the program. 
Natalie now starts to fret along with her friends as she watches
Dean Larson organize his notes at the podium.  She looks at the
other girls; Natalie's inner voice speaks up, "There is no way
they would pick me over these girls.  Katie is a cheerleader, Sam
was last year's prom queen and Emily is the top student in our
class."

"Can I have your attention please?"  Dean Larson speaks into the
microphone.  He pause for a second, "Please settle down, the
sooner we can get through this assembly, the sooner you can be
dismissed for the weekend."  That promise of early dismissal
quickly settles the antsy teens.

"As you know, last year we rolled out the Naked in School
Program.  The administration deemed the pilot a great success."

"Oh really, did they have to walk around the school naked?" a
student yells out from the bleachers.

"No Miss Elliot, they did not participate in the program."  Dean
Larson looks in the direction of the voice as he demonstrates his
unique ability to identify students solely by their voice.

"The feedback that we received from the four teens that
participated actually helped us determine the success of the
program."  He continues, "On Monday we will begin the first
official week of Philmore Academy's Naked in School Program.  We
have selected one male and one female from each class to
participate.  Their names will be posted at the main entrance of
the school fifteen minutes prior to the first warning bell.  If
your name is on the list then you will proceed to my office for
further instructions."

"Like, 'get nekkid'!" another voice rings out from the bleachers,
garnering chuckles from many of the teens.

"Yes, Mr. Stewart; that would be one," once again displaying his
deft skill of identifying students.  "There will be many others
as well."

"For this program to remain successful, everyone must play a
role.  If any of you remember last year, the first day or two
will be pretty traumatic for the participating students.  I ask
that everyone treat the participants with respect and offer their
support.  If you are respectful and supportive then I expect the
participants to quickly adapt to their new environment.  However,
take advantage of what this program has to offer, it is about
exploring your sexuality.  The program participants are available
for your `reasonable requests' to assist you in exploring both
yours and their sexuality."

Dean Larson pauses to let his words sink in a little, "When you
leave here today, you will be handed a pamphlet.  Please take
this pamphlet home and read it.  Then read it again.  I would go
so far as to recommend you memorize it.  This pamphlet will give
you all the information you need to know about the program.  It
will spell out what is allowed and what is NOT allowed.  With
that you are dismissed, have a great weekend, see you all on
Monday."

Natalie stands up from her seat on the bleachers.  She turns to
her friends; one had tears running down her cheek.  She extends a
hug to give her a bit of support, but more to support herself and
to hold back her own tears.  She makes her way off of the
bleachers and towards the exit door.  She grabs a pamphlet on her
way out and nearly crumbles it in her hand.  She couldn't find
the courage to look at it during her entire walk home.  After
what felt like an hour, but was barely a ten minute walk, she
arrives at her front door.  She opens the door and steps inside.
She immediately walks to the kitchen, drops her backpack on the
floor and sits at the kitchen table; crumbled pamphlet still in
hand.

She reads the cover; Student Guide to the Naked in School
Program, Prepared by the Federal Office of Social Awareness and
modified by the Administration of Philmore Academy.

She opens the cover to the first section; Compulsory Nudity.  She
reads through the entire page and then pauses and shakes her
head.  She starts over at the top of the page and reads it again.


"No clothing other than shoes and socks are permitted at any
time, nor shall any participant attempt to cover or hide any of
their body, including with another part of their body, i.e.
hands, arms, legs.  Due to uncertainty of weather, Program
Participants will immediately report to the assembly hall stage
at the beginning of each day to disrobe and return at the end of
the day to retrieve all clothing.  Participants will enter and
exit through the designated west end doors.

All bathroom use and gym preparation (including showering) will
be performed in the facilities provided for the opposite sex."

She moves on to the Class Participation page and reads through it
a few times.  Her mind drifts as she reads the section detailing
examples of activities which may require significant involvement.
 She mentally scans her class schedule thinking of the many
horrible things her teachers could require her to do.

The next section is what caused her the most dread, Reasonable
Requests.  She reads through the guidelines; a few of them sticks
out in her mind more than others.

"The Program Participant is required to comply with reasonable
requests only during the allotted time between scheduled classes.
 As time is limited, Program Participants are only required to
accept ONE request during these times.  Requests can only be made
in the hallways and restrooms.  Once in a classroom, library,
gymnasium, locker room or lab, only the educator can make
requests of the participant.

The Program Participants are strongly encouraged to allow
touching for the purpose of education and promoting sexual
awareness.

The Program Participant is the sole judge of the reasonableness
of any request that extends beyond simple physical contact.  Any
attempt to make physical contact without acceptance of a formal
request will result in disciplinary action by the Academy
administration.  Discipline can include any manner of actions up
to and including filing charges with local law enforcement.

No Program Participant is ever required to submit to genital
stimulation, oral sex or penetration of a sexual organ or foreign
object.  However, these `discretionary' requests may be accepted
by the Program Participant on a case by case basis.

The Program Participant does not have to accept any request
during their scheduled lunch hour.

Natalie continues on to the next page titled Contraception and
Requesting Relief.  She reads, "Under contract, all students are
required to use contraception.  While female students can use any
contraception of their choice, the Board of Education has
provided a recommended list of proven effective methods.  A full
list can be found on the Academy's website."

Natalie's inner voice interrupts, "Well, that explains the
doctor's visit last week.  Mom insisted I get the injection.  She
could have just told me it was a requirement."

Natalie continues reading the pamphlet, "Males are required to
use condoms at all times when ejaculation is anticipated, whether
it's during intercourse or other activities.  It is the
participants' responsibility to properly clean all spilled bodily
fluids immediately.  Sterilizing wipes can be found throughout
the building."

"Bodily fluids; what kind of program is this?" her inner voice
questions.

"Program Participants may request relief prior to the start of
any class period.  Participants will be allowed a five minutes
restroom break to achieve such relief.  Participants can also
request a classmate to assist in relief.  The educator, at their
discretion, may require the relief session to be performed within
the classroom for the expressed purpose of education.  All
requirements concerning contraception and sanitation as noted
above must be adhered to."

The final section on the last page of the pamphlet printed a list
of exemptions that excused a student from participating in the
program.  The list includes health, excusable absences,
diplomatic status or prior participation at another school
system.  Natalie also noted an exemption specific to the Academy
that reads, "Females on their menstrual period will be granted a
one-week medical exemption from participation in the program."

The final section concerning Outreach sends Natalie into a
tailspin.  She throws the pamphlet on the table and puts her face
in her hands.  She silently starts to weep.

As she sits at the table in deep thought, she does not hear the
front door open.  Her mother turns into the kitchen, seeing
Natalie at the table.  "What's wrong dear?"

Natalie jumps up and runs to her mother's arms.  "Mom, it's the
Naked in School Program, it starts Monday.  If I get selected,
you have to get me out of it."

"Oh honey, I wish I could.  You know state law forbids parental
interference.  Besides don't you remember what Dean Larson said
about the selection process?"

"Yes, I know he said I probably wouldn't get selected, but
still."

Her mother steps back and brushes the hair out of her face and
wipes the tears from her cheek.  "Why don't you do something that
will take your mind off this program, at least until Monday?  How
about inviting some of your new friends over to hang out at the
pool for the weekend?"

"I guess I can do that, I'll make some calls.  But I make no
promises that this stupid program won't become the main topic of
discussion.  All my friends would make perfect candidates for the
program."

"I am sure they would honey, I am sure they would."  Natalie's
mother replies as she turns away and heads out of the kitchen
towards the living room, a wry smile across her face.
