First Times - Chapter 3 by Defi Kinder, Pope Solomon, and The
King

Devon slowly made his way up the steps to his best friend Joey's
house next door. His ass still hurt from what Uncle Chris had
done to him. His belly was starting to ache terribly too.

He rang the doorbell and waited. Joey's Uncle Bill came to the
door and let him in saying "Hey Dev, how're you?"

"Ok Bill" Devon said as he walked slowly inside.

Bill knew something was wrong, pain was clearly written on
Devon's face, each step the child took seemed to take an immense
effort.

"It's just my stomach. I think it's the grilled cheese Uncle
Chris made for lunch." He hoped Bill wouldn't ask any more
questions as Uncle Chris had made it clear what would happen if
he snitched.

"I'll be ok. I think I just need to use the bathroom."

"Go ahead. I'll let Joey know you are here" said Bill. "Joey!
Dev's here." Bill yelled up the stairs to Joey's bedroom.

Meanwhile Devon had gone into the bathroom. At first he didn't
know if he had to throw up or shit because the pain in his belly
had gotten as bad as the pain in his ass. The only logical
choice for the boy was to pull his pants down and stand in front
of the toilet and see which happened first.

Devon had barely gotten his cartoon underpants down before he was
bending over the toilet throwing up the grilled cheese sandwich,
which had a strange metallic aftertaste to it. He got really
scared when he saw blood had started running down his legs as he
threw up.

Suddenly Devon noticed a strange tingling feeling in his face.
His vision became blurry and large white spots began to flash
before him. His legs felt weak, then all went black.

"UNCLE BILL!" Joey screamed.

Bill came running into the bathroom, there Devon lay face down on
the bathroom floor, blood gushed out of his torn asshole. From
all his years as a paramedic, he knew right away what had
happened. His face went red with anger.

"Joey, call 911 and tell them it's a Code 3 Pediatric Stat at
Bill's house and I need Nick and A.J. here ten minutes ago! Run!"

Joey ran from the room to call 911. He fought a loosing battle
against the tears that threatened.

Bill knelt beside the small form to check Devon for a pulse. It
was weak. He turned the boy over into the recovery position as
he grabbed towels to try and stop the bleeding. He noticed the
bloody vomit in the toilet and quickly swept the boy's mouth to
make sure he wasn't choking.

Bill was so preoccupied with his attempts to stay the flow of
blood, he failed to hear the sirens as the grew louder, or the
slamming of the front door as the voices and hurried footsteps
rushed to Devon's side.

Bill tenderly scooped up Devon wrapped in blood soaked towels and
carried him out to the ambulance and climbed in through the back
door.

"Joey get in the front with A.J." he shouted as he laid Devon on
the gurney. "Floor it to the children's hospital code 3, full
lights and sirens!" he yelled again to A.J.

When the paramedic had gotten a shaking Joey strapped in, he
buckled himself into the drivers seat.

Meanwhile, Bill and Nick had hooked Devon up to the EKG, put an
oxygen mask on him, then started an IV to get fluids back into
him after they bandaged his torn asshole as well as they could.
Bill grabbed the phone from the wall and got on the line directly
to Dr. Dave in the surgery department at the children's hospital.

"Dave, I've got an 11 year old boy with severe anal rupture.
He's lost probably half his blood volume. Pulse weak and
thready." Bill said in a professional tone of voice even though
he was fighting back anger and tears of his own.

Little Joey was in the front seat with tears coming down both
cheeks, afraid that his friend was going to die.

"Yes, it looks like rape." Bill responded into the phone.

"OK bring him right to the surgical entrance as soon as you get
here. You know the drill!" Dr. Dave said to Bill over the phone.
Then he hung it up and began yelling orders to his staff to prep
for incoming.

"A.J. head directly to the surgical entrance, not the ER. Dr.
Dave will meet us there. He's taking Devon right into the
operating room." Bill shouted as he hung the phone up on his end.

A few minutes later, they pulled up to the entrance at the
children's hospital. Dr. Dave and O.R. nurse Cole were there
with a gurney waiting for them. Bill scooped up Devon and put
him on it, then they all ran down the hall towards the operating
room door.

A kindly older nurse stopped them in their tracks as they tried
to follow Devon inside. She pointed to the chairs in the hallway
and all four sat down with Joey cradling up in Bill's lap. All
four of them were crying.

(inside the O.R.)

"Ok get him on the table and let's go to work." instructed Dr.
Dave to Cole and Nurse Jenkins.

They started repairing the tears in Devon's anus and gave him
blood transfusions to replace all the blood he'd lost.

Suddenly the EKG monitor alarm went off signaling the boy was in
ventricular fibrillation.

"Help me get him over on his back quick Cole!" said Dr. Dave

"Jenkins charge the paddles to 100 joules." Dr. Dave ordered as
he grabbed the defib gel and started squirting it onto Devon's
chest.

If the situation had been different he might've even giggled a
bit when some of it made a pool in the boys belly button.

"Charged." said Jenkins

"Ok Clear!" Dr. Dave shouted as he pressed the buttons on the two
paddles sending a jolt of electricity through the boy's chest in
the hope of restoring his heartbeat.

Devon's body arched up off the table and came back down hard.
The EKG monitor still showed he was in vfib. It didn't work.

"Jenkins charge it to 200 now."

"Charged."

"Clear!"

Devon's body seemed like it jumped even higher off the table, but
miraculously the EKG monitor started beeping almost right away
after the defib shock had done it's job.

"Whew!" said Dr. Dave as he placed the paddles back in their
holder and wiped his sweaty brow.

(meanwhile outside the O.R.)

"Uncle Bill, what's wrong with Devon?" Joey's voice cracked with
fear as tears ran down his face. The overhead speaker started
blaring "Code Blue O.R. 1 Code Blue O.R. 1" over and over.

Bill, who had never lied to his young nephew before could only
tell him the truth, "It means his heart has stopped Joey."

"He's dead?" Joey started crying and hugging his uncle.

Nick and A.J. could only sit there and feel sorry for the boy as
he cried on Bill's lap, who sat quietly seething with his own
thoughts of what he was going to do to Chris when he got a hold
of him.

A short time later, Dr. Dave and Nurse Cole emerged from the
operating room and walked over to them. They looked exhausted.

"It was touch and go there for awhile Joey, but Devon is going to
be ok," Dr. Dave said right to the boy. He had known both boys a
long time so he knew Joey would want the news first.

Joey wiped the tears from his eyes, slowly climbed down off Bills
lap, and alternated hugging Dr. Dave and his boyfriend Cole.
