   I slammed the door shut, letting the warm embrace of the house embrace
my whole body, leaving the blistering cold of the snow behind me as I
kicked my boots off, not minding them landing at random places making a
mess.  It's finally Friday, and moreover, it's 10th of December, my
birthday!

   I've been counting the days for the past 6 months, and finally, finally
it's my 10th birthday!

   Running to the living room, I took in the feeling as I saw balloons
littered about the living room, a big chocolate-cake marked "Happy birthday
Kate" on the living table, and my mother sleeping on the sofa, obviously a
little tired after using most of the day getting my birthday ready and
doing all the chores.

   At the side of the table, right next to mom, her phone lay.  Wanting to
capture a few photos of the cake, I silently grabbed the phone, and snapped
away a few pictures of the cake.  Still, not wanting to wake up mom, I cut
out a piece of cake for myself, and snapped a few pictures of the cake from
all sides, wanting to collect as many memories as I could.  I then took a
small bite of the cake, noticing that it tasted a bit funny, but not taking
much notice as mom said she'd get special chocolate to make the cake for my
special day.

   I continued to slowly eat the piece as I looked happily through the
pictures I had taken, and decided to watch through mom's album, so I
continued browsing further back than my initial cake-picture, and enjoyed
some selfies mom had taken while at work.  The backgrounds were
nondescript, so I didn't know if they were from where she worked as a
waiter or where she worked the store, but I didn't mind, it was fun looking
through all her selfies.

   I continued browsing as I were eating the cake, slowly starting to feel
a bit drowsy.  Suddenly the selfies stopped showing up, instead replaced by
a girl somewhere about my age.  I couldn't see her face, as the picture
only showed from the neck down, but due to the nudity, figuring out that it
was a girl were no large feat.  I studied the picture as I cut out another
piece of the cake and started eating, periodically yawning.  I guessed I
were a bit to excited running home from school today... Looking closely on
the thigh of the girl in the picture, I notice a small scar, thinking this
a weird coincidence, I swipe on to the next picture where I see a gloved
hand spreading apart the girls' special place.  I linger on the picture for
a few seconds before I swiped to the next picture.  I almost choked on the
cake as I saw the picture.  Looking up briefly to make sure mom hadn't
woken due to my gasp, I zoomed around on different parts of the picture. 
The subject was the same as the first, a girl about my age with a covered
face, totally nude, but the picture was from a little bit further away
allowing me to take in the surroundings, it was definitively my room!  The
plushies were right where I use to line them up, my table with my diary
laid open in the centre.

   I felt a breeze running up my back as I continued sliding, faster now,
not lingering on any picture all the while eating piece after piece of the
cake, until I found a picture depicting the girls face.  I dropped the
phone in shock, glaring on the phone screen was my own face.

   "I'm sorry, Kate..." someone said far away.  I looked up, barely able to
see anything further away than my plate with a half-eaten cake.  It
obviously was a woman's voice, but it was soon joined by another, a male
this time, "Katie's done eating, is she?  Happy birthday girlie, now sweet
dreams".  I tried standing up, but before I could get my footing the world
turned pitch dark.
