they could mimic the powers of anyone of us, or indeed of The Avengers,
X-Factor, The X-Men, anyone, perhaps even to a greater degree?"

"Not a chance, they're frozen in time. Had they been prepared
for the attack I don't doubt they could have put up some kind of defense

Reed, continuing his scans,"Especially considering what they did to The

When they'd come through The Negative Zone Portal, wearing small
badges on their sleeves that negated the temporal effect, they'd all
been shocked to find She-Hulk there, naked and staring with lust at The
Fellow next to her.
They'd carried her out of the room and, once clear of the Temporal
Field, she started kicking and screaming, demanding to be returned to
her Masters.
Combined they'd been able to overpower the gamma charged Lawyer,

his eyes narrowing at the sight of the person whose image was currently
emblazoned across the monitor.

Johnny burst into the lab, his face excited.
"Did you see it!?!"
"Half of it," replied Reed calmly,"He claims to have defeated
the best this New Humanity has to offer."
"Yeah!" gasped Johnny, trying to capture his breath,"He says
that they crossed him and that their claim to being the highest form of
evolution is false!"
"Doctor Doom may be prone to exaggeration, but never to
falsehood," noted Reed,"If he claims to have defeated one of them, this
Insanis, then I believe him."
"So what do we do about it?" asked Johnny.
"It's time we stopped sitting here waiting for the next move
and got involved, I think," muttered Reed,"The Avengers may have been
defeated, but they're only the first wave."
His hand snaked through the lab and into a draw, pulling out a
small Avengers I.D card. He pushed the photo I.D on the front and only
a second later Captain America appeared in the tiny video screen where
his photo had been only seconds ago.
"Reed?" asked Captain America,"You have no idea how glad I am
to see you."
"And I you, Captain, I was led to believe that you had been
defeated?"
"Almost," The Living Legend replied grimly,"We're currently
fighting to take the city back. Some kind of strange field of energy
seems to have infected the people here, but we're slowly taking it back.
Currently there are squadrons of citizens moving from street to street,
taking the city back."
"That's excellent," said Reed with a smile,"But that's only a
symptom, Captain, we need to go straight to the source."
"Agreed," replied Captain America,"We're currently getting info
fed to us by Iron Man, he's escaped from These Fellows of The Physical
Discipline's base and sent us the co-ordinates. We were just preparing
to organize a strike team to go in after them."
"I suggest you join us first," said Reed,"We've come across
some interesting information about these Fellows and their origins and
we may be able to develop a weapon to attack them with."
"Glad to know we can count on you, Reed," said Captain America
with a slight smile of relief,"We'll get over to Four Freedoms Plaza
as soon as possible."
The transmission cut off.
"So what now?" asked Johnny.
"In the words of our esteemed colleague," said Reed with
a smile,"It's clobbering time."

The Incredible Hulk grunted, poking at the two frozen Fellows
with one powerful finger. Barren and Pulce collapsed to the ground,
trapped in the position the temporal beam had caught them in.
"Stupid men stop moving," grunted The Hulk, then looked up at
the giant ship floating in the air,"Stupid ship block Hulk's light,
Hulk not like."

later was trapped in a temporal beam that froze him in place, the energy

"Oh no!" cried Betty, seeing him as he was pulled in through the
hatchway,"He's become that thing again!"
"Oh geez, stupid Hulk," muttered Rick with a shake of his head.
It was the worst for Betty, who had just been reconciled with
her husband, his mind and body perfectly at one again before going off
to fight for Doom and becoming this... this.... monstrosity again!
"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" she screamed, turning on Doom and
charging him.
A second later she was smashing into Rick as Doom's personal
forcefield bounced her away across the room.
"Doom tolerates your presence for now," muttered Doom, walking
up to the frozen Hulk and staring with no visible emotion at the Gamma
Goliath,"Do not press your position."
"So what now, Doom," grunted Rick, lying on the ground beneath
Betty,"Why didn't you use whatever you used against Insanis against those
two?"
"Doom does not explain himself," muttered Doom,"And besides, the
time has passed for discussion, Doom has made a promise to rid the world
of this New Humanity, and Doom keeps his words."
And with that, the giant ship sped off towards a location that
only one person onboard knew.
While meanwhile, the villagers left the barn and went back to
living their lives quietly, their confidence in their Monarch once again
validated.
