What If? The Magus had defeated Adam Warlock?
I am the Watcher, It is my duty to watch the events of time and
record them, this is a universe I have taken a major interest in, that of
the Marvel Universe. Recently the madman/nihilist Thanos took control of
the Infinity Gems and combined them with a gauntlet to become a God like
being, he was foiled by his own lack of self-esteem and lost the Gauntlet.
But then I looked into another dimension where Thanos succeeded and
became a God - deciding he did not like being watched he killed me - of
course I exist in every dimension and so only that dimension's Watcher
died - but I grew curious - would other's react the same - I decided to
look upon the Magus - what if he had succeeded?...........
Adam Warlock grabbed the Infinity Gauntlet, which was still on the
Magus' hand.
"The Gauntlet recognises my touch Magus, you must fight me for it's
power."
Behind him Dr Doom staggered to his feet,"No!" he cried,"Only I may
have this power."
Power flew from his arm, smashing into Adam and knocking his to the
ground, fire sprang up around Doom, melting his armour and then his flesh.
The Magus looked down at Warlock and smiled,"Dear, dear Adam, do you think
you know things I do not? I know about the fake gem," suddenly a small gem
appeared before him.
"All the power in the universe is mine," said Magus and walked out
of the room, an unconscious Adam Warlock flloating beside him.
Doom's remains lay blackened and burnt on the ground, suddenly a
small red 'hole' opened up in the air and stretched to about six feet,
someone stepped through it, it was Doom.
"Fascinating," he said.
Magus stared around at his hall of conquests, heroes from all over
the universe lay suspended in the air, the Infinity Gauntlet lay upon his
hand and buzzed incessantly, he still wasn't sure what it was saying, he
hadn't gotten used to this total power yet.
At the centre of his conquests was the mighty Thanos, who had once
held this power but lost it through his own low sense of worth, he was still
struggling mightily against the bonds that held him, as was Adam who floated
beside the Magus.
"Those who have held the Gauntlet have power," he said
to himself,"I must divert them from their struggles, play tricks upon them,
but how?" then he smiled, he knew.
Thanos was standing in the Hall of the Dead, before him sat
Mistress Death, he fell to one knee, his face filling with joy.
"Arise Thanos," she said, smiling at him - she wore the face of an
angel this day, her beauty not of this Universe.
"My Queen," he stammered out,"How did I come to be here?"
"You failed to defeat your doppelganger," she said sadly,"You fell
in battle and have come now to your eternal reward."
Thanos shook his head, something was wrong, it was true he could
remember himself and the Doppelganger fighting, but not who had won - and he
had been dead before, but he had received no reward, anyone who received an
award from dying went to the soul gem - not to Mistress Death.
"Thanos," she said, standing up and approaching him, he noticed for
