You should note that the story takes place in comic format (i.e,
through continuation into different comics) this is because I consider this
story an Alternate to the Onslaught Crossover in Marvel Comics last year,
therefore each story takes place over last years Onslaught Issues.

Marvel Universe : Herald Of Armageddon (continued)

The Heroes and Mutants gathered in Four Freedoms Plaza and watched
the news with uneasy amusement.
".....Tilby for channel 3 news.
The entire city is perplexed today, unable to understand what
caused the mass unconsciousness throughout the greater New York area.
Garbled reports have come in from the rest of America, and indeed the
world, claiming that we were attacked by the presumed dead mutant
terrorist, Magneto.
We had a chance to talk to Reed Richards, leader of the Fantastic
Four, earlier this evening."
Their were some hoots of laughter, a few cries of hollywood, then
they shushed to listen to Reed on the box. Reed himself was blushing
furiously, he hated seeing himself on t.v.
"There is quite a simple explanation," said Reed to Trish with a
slight smile,"The other members of the Fantastic Four and myself recently
returned from the Negative Zone, which as many viewers know is like
a.....uh....space between dimensions.
Now, upon returning we were shocked to discover that the Negative
Zone was not being contained as it should, and that aspects of other
realities were 'leaking' into our own dimension."
"So?" said Trish,"The so called t.v broadcasts of which I myself
have no recollection," she smiled winningly for the camera, Hank beamed
proudly,"Are actually manifestations of other dimensions that leaked
into our own Universe somehow?"
"Exactly," said Reed with a smile.
"So then, is there any chance of this happening again, and why
did it result in the unconsciousness of New York alone?"
Reed laughed,"The chances of it happening are exactly 1
in 376,459,824,628, and the odds are only that good once every
billion years. As for why it happened in New York? Well we in
the Fantastic Four contain a portal into the Negative Zone, I wouldn't
be surprised if similar reports came in from Latveria, where Doctor Doom
is known to have such a portal."
"Unfortunately, the Monarch of Latveria, Doctor Doom,
was unavailable for comment," said Trish, looking a little sad,"But thank
you Mr Fantastic, for shedding light on this entire affair."
Reed nodded and smiled, as Trish turned to continue the Thing
switched of the t.v and stretched.
"I don't like it stretch," he muttered,"Some of us have a vague
recollection of fighting a guy who looked a lot like Magneto, the rest of
us don't remember anything, I myself remember falling asleep watching the
Good, The Bad and The Ugly with......" he looked confused for a
second,"Who was I watching it with?"
As the other heroes stood up and prepared to head back to their
respective homes, the Thing stood where he was, trying to remember whom
he had watched the movie with. Reed mistook his confusion for the loss
of memory over the battle with Magnus.
"Don't worry," said Reed,"My computer sensors here say that we
all did indeed battle Magneto, but at the end he overestimated
his abilities and was burnt out upon trying to insinuate himself into
the Earth's electro-magnetic spectrum."
The Thing nodded, not knowing that Reed was lying, that his
computers had told him that a being of unparalleled cosmic might had
interceded at some point, the result being the removal of memories from
their minds. The two of them walked away, straight past a photo of the
Fantastic Four, all gathered around and smiling at what was now an empty
basket, with the words Franklin on it.

Doom stood in the control room that kept Asteroid M in it's false
orbit, behind him the Hulk, wearing a white coat and large glasses, was
working on some alignment problems with the local satellites.
"It wasn't supposed to happen this way," said Doom to himself,"I
traveled the temporal corridor nearly 100 times and it never played out
like this."
The Hulk lifted his head,"I've double checked your readings like
you asked, you were right."
"Of course," said Doom, he had merely asked the Hulk to double
check to keep the Gamma Goliath busy.
"It does explain everything after all," said the Hulk to
himself,"Someone with power levels on a cosmic scale - possibly Galactus
or even the Living Tribunal - interfered at the last second, and also
changed our memories, do you think Reed figured it out?"
Doom nodded, lifting a glass of wine to his mouth hole,"Yes,
Richard's is nobody's fool, even if he isn't my equal."
The two scientists went back to quiet introspection.

The X-Men had been asked to stay in the guest quarters of Four
Freedoms Plaza, they all had dim recollections of the Mansion being
wrecked, and Jean was having trouble sending telepathic messages across
the astral plane for some reason, so they agreed to stay the night.
Now, in the early hours of the morning, Gambit awoke to the noise
of someone trying to stealthily enter his bedroom.
"Who dere?" he asked, reaching for anything he could kinetically
charge.
"Remy?" came a sweet voice with a southern accent.
"Rogue? What you be doing here, chere?" he asked, dropping the
lamp he had been ready to throw.
"Ah'm scared," she said,"The Z'Noxx chamber is gone, and even
after all this time with the X-Men ah don't know how to control my powers,
what if we can never be....intimate again?"
Gambit began to laugh, a low chuckling noise, full of good humor.
"You find this funny?" she asked from the darkness, he reached
over and switched the lamp on, they both tried to blink back the blinding
light.
"It's just dat you be so innocent," he laughed,"You tink dere
only one way to make love?"
She was obviously confused, he stood up and put a hand on her
shoulder, where it was covered by a tight white shirt.
"Rogue me darling," he said,"Go back to your room, take off your
bra and panties, and put on a loose pair of track pants and a tight, long
sleeved shirt."
"Why?" she asked him, but he was already pushing her out the door.
"Don't worry chere," he said, winking at her,"Pretty soon you
gonna learn some of de tricks of de trade, like how to fuck with your
clothes on!"
He followed her down the corridor, rubbing his hands together
with anticipatory delight.

Bastion stared at the figures on the ground. All but one were
dressed in the uniform's of the First Strike battalion. The last was a
bald, intelligent looking man, who stared up at Bastion with blank,
unseeing eyes.
"What the hell happened here?" he asked, staring at the one
body that still breathed - Xavier's - but for all that seemed lifeless.
"We're reading absolutely no brain wave patterns," said one of
the First Strike soldiers who had been lucky enough to be fighting the
fire at what remained of the Mansion - unsuccessfully.
"It's like his mind has been wiped clean."
Bastion stared at the dirt where Xavier had struggled to impart
a message before having his mind wiped.
"And who, or what....is Onslaught?" pondered Bastion to himself.

And so I have stared into this reality one more time and seen
the completely unexpected. Despite an increased positive attitude towards
mutants, Operation Zero Tolerance continues. Despite the death of Sinister
and Apocalypse, threats continue to come in from all fronts.
I find myself wondering over the fates of Kitty Pryde, Pete
Wisdom and Amanda Sefton at the hands of the HellFire Club. I wonder
where Generation X disappeared to and how Jubilee met up with
the supposedly dead Illyana Rasputin.
Who is Paradox? Not even I know. What happened to the Cosmic
energy Thanos stole from Magnus, what plans does Magneto have for Exodus
and Franklin, just what is Doom planning upon Asteroid M, how does the
Hulk fit into the picture? What does The Silver Surfer discover when he
finally locates Adam Warlock?
And speaking of which, how has Onslaught come into the picture if
Magneto was never mind wiped?
If I have the time, I will look back at this dimension, I wish to
know the answers, and nothing can be hidden from me.
I know this to be true.
