Office Of The Head Of The Organization, Two Hours Later.

Kevin Spacey - Head Of The Organization - turned from his view
of the city below and smiled as Tom Cruise entered, followed by a nervous
looking Alec Baldwin.
"Tom, Alec, how are you?"
"Good," said Tom,"I won't be here long, Nicole and I want to take
some time to deal with this whole Stanley Kubrick thing."
"Good, good," said Kevin,"You told me Nicole had been having
bad dreams recently, a holiday would be good."
"Australia's nice this time of year, we..."
"Ah fuck!" cried Alec, who had nervously holding back talking
until now,"Enough of that shit! What about the Trial!"
"Relax, gentlemen," chuckled Kevin,"When you see who my guest
is, you'll understand."
The chair beside him turned around, when they saw it's occupant
the two of them couldn't help but grin.

The Courthouse.
---------------
Donovan sighed, it had been an exhaustive press conference,
especially considering that media suppression was still active and what
they could tell them was limited.
He walked through the corridor, trying to not feel too elated,
after all, it hadn't been a total victory. Archie Deacon's death hadn't
been explained, The Organization remained a mystery and if The Celebrity
Hypnotist had tried to hypnotize them all, why had he failed?
"Prescott," said a voice behind him.
He turned and found himself facing Alex McKenzie.
"Mr. McKenzie," he said,"Can I help you?"
"Considering the rather... unusual nature of the way this case
concluded, I didn't get a chance to congratulate you."
He stuck out his hand, Prescott looked at it for a moment, then
smiled and shook it.
"I was lucky, Mr. McKenzie..."
"Alex, please."
"I was lucky, Alex," said Donovan, trying out the name,"You were
kicking my ass all over that courtroom, but you had to put him up on the
stand, and I was lucky enough to trick him into outfoxing himself."
"Whatever happened in there, Donovan," said McKenzie,"Doesn't
matter, it comes down to the result, and I lost."
"I'd say it was fun," said Donovan with a smile,"But until I
got him, I was shitting bricks every day."
McKenzie laughed, then took on a serious look,"Listen, Donovan,
if you ever get tired of slogging your way through life and decide to
start making some real money, give me a call," he reached into his suit
pocket and removed a business card,"Someone like you would not only be
welcome at Salinger, Gorman & McKenzie, you'd also have a very, very
bright future."
Donovan hesitated, then took the card.
"I promise to think about it, Alex, I really do," he said, and
shook McKenzies hand again,"But right now I have to ring Ms. Zuniga
and tell her the good news."
"Donovan," said McKenzie, a serious look on his face,"I thought
he was innocent, that's the truth... that's one of the benefits of making
so much money, you get to only take cases you want to, not those you
need to."
He walked away and Donovan, with a smile and a shake of his head,
walked to the phone booths. He rang Daphne and told her everything that
had happened, she was ecstatic.
He laughed as he hung up.
- The money McKenzie is talking about is good, but it's moments
like these that make it for me, I don't think I could ever give this kind
of thing up. -
He turned to walk away, then stopped.
His eyes seemed to glaze over, he twisted about on one foot,
moved stiffly towards the booths and scooped up the receiver. He punched
clumsily at the numberpad, not even looking at it as he did so.
The phone rang three times, then was picked up.
He spoke for just over a minute, then the person on the other
end said one word and he hung up.
He stood still for a few moments, then shook his head clear.
"Woah!" he muttered to himself,"Woolgathering, Donovan? Or just
getting old?"
He headed back towards his office, where Janet would be waiting,
having heard by now the result.
Maybe he would take her out to dinner tonight.

The Next Day, March 17th, 1999.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we were here at the beginning, and we are
here again at the end," said Julia Vasquez, recently promoted to
co-anchor, coming to the City and around the Country from the scene of
the Courthouse,"Myself and the Channel 3 Newscrew were the only crew
privy to the preliminary proceedings to The Celebrity Hypnotist Trial,
and now we bring you the startling conclusion."
She paused to smile winningly.
"Yesterday it was revealed that Independent Prosecutor Donovan
Prescott had extracted a startling confession from The Celebrity Hypnotist
on the witness stand. The Celebrity Hypnotist then changed his plea to
guilty and an hour ago was sentenced, the exact specifications have yet
to be revealed, but right now everybody is abuzz as to the soon to be
revealed identity of the Celebrity Hypnotist."
"Here comes Judge Calthers!" shouted someone in the background.
"Here it comes then," said Julia,"We....
....wait with baited breath."
"Come on, come on," muttered Alec Baldwin.
"Relax," said Tom Cruise, sipping at a scotch. He had offered
some to the man next to him, who had declined.
"Shhh," muttered Kevin,"Here it comes."
"I'm going to cut straight to the chase," muttered Judge Calthers
on the t.v,"The Celebrity Hypnotist was sentenced to a total of 45 years
in a special correctional facility that will remain undisclosed for
obvious security reasons. Suffice it to say that the conditions there
are hoped to be more than enough to help him along the path to
rehabilitation."
There was an expectant hush.
"Okay," Judge Calthers said,"And now, what you've all been circling
around the Courthouse like vultures for for weeks now, the identity of this
so-called 'Celebrity Hypnotist.'"
"Here we go," said Kevin.
"Should be good."
"The identity of the Celebrity Hypnotist," said The Judge,"Is
Matt LeBlanc, one of six stars on a popular sitcom called Friends."

There was total silence everywhere, at the Courthouse, in t.v's
around the nation, most especially in the Office Of The Head.
And then it was broken by Alec Baldwin.
"YES!" he laughed,"Beautiful!"
"The dumb son of a bitch actually confessed!" laughed Tom Cruise.
"I told you he would," chuckled Kevin Spacey,"He also effectively
put out any speculation about the existence of The Organization and, apart
from one tech that was sacrificed unknowingly, we came out untouched... am
I a great Head or what!?!"
As the three men laughed and joked, congratulating each other
and dancing about, whilst on t.v shocked reporters finally got around to
screaming questions at Judge Calthers, who yelled angrily for silence,
the man who had been next to Tom remained seated quietly in his chair. He
smiled slightly and finally spoke.
"Perfect," I said,"Absolutely perfect."

Four Days Later, March 21st - 1999.

The newspaper slammed down in front of me.
"Hello, Lisa," I said.
"You set this whole thing up, didn't you!" she yelled.
"Keep your voice down," I muttered,"You're creating a scene."
We were in the corridor outside the office of the Head's
receptionist, I was sitting on a plush couch and reading a magazine. I
was waiting to discuss an idea I'd had for my welcome back scenes, a little
something I called Blondes & Brunettes.
"Do you think I give a fuck!" she snapped,"You've ruined me."
The newspaper headline read,'FRIENDS' LATEST TO FALL IN CELEBRITY
HYPNOTIST SCANDEL,' and was accompanied by a picture of the five remaining
'Friends' moving towards their cars with jackets over heads and sunglasses
on. They had just been told that their show was canceled.
"Oh yes, that's right, I forgot there would be fallout from
that whole 'Celebrity Hypnotist Trial' thingy, glad they got the guy
though."
"Son of a bitch!" she hissed at me,"I'll never work again, no one
will want to make any movies with me, I'll never get another t.v show!"
"Look on the bright side," I chuckled,"You can spend lots of time
with your new kid."
"Why Matt!?!" she cried at me, her face anguished,"Why him, why
did you pick him when you could have picked any other celebrity, you
could have gone for Thomas Gibson, he'd have fitted the profile! Or Tim
Allen or someone like that, why Matt!??!"
"Why Matt," I said thoughtfully, then leaned forward,"Matt,
because you sucked my dick but never let me fuck you. Matt, because
you ruined my Mad About You assignment. Matt, because you had my Bat-Orgy
interrupted. Matt, because you revealed my safety deposit box to Bart
Rice and made me waste my time with him, made me take him with me on
personal projects. That's why Matt, because you screwed me over while
trying to worm your way into Phil's position.... and that was the final
straw, because you're the one who set up Phil's murder/suicide and then
had the gall to ring me and ask for my support in your bid to fill his
spot as Head... which is the real reason I put Kevin in."
Her eyes were wide, she had had no clue I knew so much about
her manipulations.
The truth was I hadn't, I had been in the dark until she came
out for the position of Head. That was when I'd first discovered she
was even in The Organization, and I'd used my skills to discover (mostly
from her hypnotized gofer, Alex Van Winters) just how far she'd meddled
in my life.
"So get the hell out of my face now," I said with a small grin on
my face,"Before I reveal all I know about you to Kevin, and you'll not
just lose your t.v and movie deals, but all links with The Organization
as well."
She stood staring at me in total disbelief for a few moments,
then twisted about on one foot and shuffled away, looking absolutely and
totally defeated.
Beautiful.
I put the magazine down and picked up the paper, there was a
headline along the top mentioning that the Oscars were tonight, I had
to admit that I had completely forgotten. That night I would watch with
glee Lisa's stilted, unsure speech and relish in the uncomfortable silence
which had greeted her when she walked out.
Guilty by association, delicious.
The moment I'd heard in the pipeline about The Organization
being investigated, I'd decided to strengthen all my alibi's and also
go over my insurance policy with a fine tooth comb.
And that's when it had struck me, a chance to get back at Lisa
for her manipulations. Not out of petty vindictiveness but out of a
need for sheer survival, Lisa was intelligent and dangerous, with her
money, fame and high ranking in The Organization, coupled with an obvious
interest in taking me down for some reason, I would be a fool not to
take the chance to get rid of her if anything came about from Prescott's
investigations.
Once Matt was set up, I'd also gotten to Prescott
through subliminal messages, pushing him in the right direction to get
at Matt, who would respond by 'letting slip' that he was The Celebrity
Hypnotist at the Trial.
It had been beautiful - vintage me - and I'd reveled in every
step of the way. I'd even enjoyed perusing my career, the flashbacks,
the highlights.
But now it was time to get back to business.
I stepped up, folded the paper and placed it under my arm, then
walked into the receptionist's office and on into The Head's Office.
Back to business.
