Two More Contest Entries

June 26, 2012

I know, it's been a while since I updated my ASSTR page. In the mean time, I've written a couple more short stories. Both of these were entries in unofficial contests on the XNXX.com forums.

The first of the stories is titled "The Worst Day Ever?" Note the question mark at the end, which is very appropriate.

I entered this one in a contest where the theme was "The Best". The authors had to write a story that represented that theme. I decided to turn it on its head and write about the worst day ever in a young teenage boy's life. Except that in the end, it turns right back around and by the last sentence he claims that it's not the worst, but the best day ever.

Of course, when I came up with my plan for this story, I had to come up with not one idea, but two ideas for how it would all fit together. First, I had to pack the story full of the most annoying, irritating events that I could think of, and cram them all into one day. Second, I had to have an event at the end of the day that would make the boy not only decide that the day was okay after all, but take it one step further and have him declare that it was the best. Sine the story needed some kind of sex in it, I went with oral sex in the shower with two gorgeous teenage girls, including his big sister and the object of his fantasies.

You'll notice that I used some minor characters from Allison and the Primdales, as I have often done before. I chose these characters when I was thinking about how to start the day off on the wrong foot, and I know that one of the most annoying things I can think of is a cold shower. So I had the boy's sister get in the shower first and use up all the hot water. I put in a mention of how she loved anything to do with water, and immediately it struck me: I was describing Shelly Hooper from Allison and the Primdales. I skimmed through every mention of her to confirm that I had never mentioned whether or not she has a brother, and invented one for her in this story. My primary concern was that I needed a lesbian "friend with benefits" for her, and at one point I even considered using Kari Williams. But in the end, I settled on Jenny Boyce, who had already demonstrated that she had no problem fooling around with her female friends. Since I don't mention that relationship in Allison and the Primdales, either they've kept it secret the whole time or they didn't start it up until later. At any rate, nothing in "The Worst Day Ever?" contradicts anything in Allison.

The second story, which scored a close second place by the way, is titled "Shadows on the Street." Oddly enough, the hardest part of the story was coming up with a name for it. I struggled with a dozen different names, none of which I liked, until five minutes before I planned to post it with one of the unsatisfying names, this one suddenly hit me. I rewrote a couple of sentences in order to include the name in the story, then posted it.

Warning! Spoilers!

The theme of this story was a photograph depicting a woman walking down a dark and lonely street, only a dark outline against the lighter fog beyond. The image was a blend of both romantic and eerie qualities, which I thought was fascinating. The instant I saw the photo, one word flashed into my mind: Stalker!

But I couldn't just write a stalker story. For one thing, that would be too dark for my tastes, and for another, there would be nothing to set it apart from the numerous other stories that use the same theme. So I decided to mix things up a little by giving it a surprise ending. I use misdirection to make the reader think that Michael is the stalker, but it turns out that he's actually trying to protect her from the real danger.

There's not really much to the plot. Michael waits in the car, Alicia comes home, Everett holds her at gunpoint, then Michael swoops in and saves the day. The end. Not a lot of room for a decent sex scene. So I figured the only way to get an actual sex scene in the story would be to do it in a flashback. After all, Michael has plenty of time to think as he's sitting there bored out of his mind. I didn't want it to feel too artificial, so I went with the technique of jumping back and forth between the present and the past several times, italicizing the flashbacks to keep it all straight. It turned out rather well, especially since I could bring out the characters' personalities in those flashbacks, since they otherwise wouldn't interact with each other until the end of the story. It also gave me a chance to show that Alicia isn't just a weak little damsel in distress that needs to be rescued. In fact, personality wise she's essentially identical to Allison from Allison and the Primdales. Wait a minute... Alicia... Allison... do you see the similarity? (Actually, the similarity in their names is entirely coincidental)

As for Everett, I used a clever trick to keep up the illusion while she was just a shadowy figure. I deliberately avoided the third-person singular pronouns in order to keep from revealing her gender. The reader is meant to think that this mysterious visitor is Michael. Only when the villain is revealed as a woman later do we realize that we've been fooled all along.

One of my readers pointed out that all three of the characters are somewhat obsessive. Everett, of course, is the true stalker. Michael is on a crusade to help her. And Alicia knows what she wants and goes after it. She also knows what she doesn't want. I think these characters really deserve each other.
