I'd like to talk a little about the project that I've been working on for the past year, a very long novel that takes place over several years and involves a family in a kind of sexual awakening.
Weighing in at an estimated 500,000 words, it will be almost as long as War and Peace. It's not the longest work of erotic literature ever (that distinction likely belongs to Six Times A Day), but with nearly a hundred chapters planned, it's by far the longest thing I've ever written, erotic or otherwise. I'm about 3/4 of the way done, so it's going to be several months or even a year before I finish it. Don't worry; I'll still spend time on shorter stories in the mean time, so I'm not going to disappear for a year. I've got too many ideas running through my perverted little mind.
Titled "Allison and the Primdales," this story starts by introducing a new stepmother to a rich and affluent family. Allison is young, beautiful, charming, and nearly perfect. In fact, if she has one flaw, it's that she doesn't give a damn about society's rules regarding sex. Over time, that openmindedness affects the Primdales until they too abandon their moral inhibitions and learn to love each other in a very unconventional way. Yes, I'm talking incest here, but if you've read any of my other stories, that should hardly surprise you.
There will be plenty of sex between the characters in a variety of combinations. There are adults with adults, teens with teens, adults with teens, boys with girls, girls with girls, brothers with sisters, sisters with sisters, fathers with daughters, sons with stepmothers, threesomes, foursomes, and moresomes.
Allison is by far the strongest female character I've put in a story; in fact, she's probably the strongest character overall, though you could make a good case for Lance Lyons from Island For Three. Allison has a certain confidence that is very sexy, yet she's also very friendly and approachable.
Basically, it started out as an attempt to project most of my sexual fantasies onto a common set of characters, with an underlying story arc that ties them all together. I didn't really expect it to work out, and was prepared to chop it up into a series of short stories instead, but it turned out a lot better than I had expected it to. It moves slowly, sometimes taking twenty chapters for two characters to fall in love, but there's plenty of erotic fun and excitement in the mean time. The characters are definitely dynamic; they all change over time, mostly for the better.
The tone is usually lighthearted; this is a happy story. It has its moments of melancholy, but there's an overall upbeat feeling running throughout it, with characters that love to joke around and have lots of (usually naughty) fun.
You'll recognize some of the characters in it from my other stories. While most are just mentioned in passing, others may appear for a chapter or two. It's a standalone story, though, so you don't have to read any of the others to appreciate it.
So here's my dilemma. I've hit a bit of a writer's block on it. I've written about sixty-five chapters so far out of ninety, with a few inserts planned to change the pacing and flesh out some of the characters a little more. The rest of the chapters are already planned, but actually sitting down and writing them is starting to feel like a chore. I have no doubt I'll finish; I just need to find the motivation to do it.
One of my self-imposed rules is that I will not post anything until it's finished, because I hate downloading part of a story knowing that I may forget to come back to the website later to check the progress, and I don't want to make other people suffer the same thing. So under normal circumstances, I would just keep working on the story and then post it all at the end. However, I think a little positive feedback on what I've written so far might provide me the motivation I need to continue. So far my stories seem to have been well-received (and a big thank you to everyone who's commented on them), so I figure that since the style of this one is similar to the others, most readers will probably enjoy it.
That suggests releasing Allison and the Primdales as a serial, one chapter at a time. I figure if I post a chapter or two a week, I should have plenty of time to finish the final thirty before I run out of chapters to post. Once I finish writing it, I'll put them all up on the website regardless of how many I've posted so far. It also means that the chapters I'm planning to insert will throw off the numbering of the previously posted chapters, so anyone who downloads them will need to occasionally re-download the whole thing to get the most up-to-date version. I may also have to rewrite portions to preserve internal consistency. Basically, I would treat the whole thing as a work in progress, with all that that implies. I would put it on a separate page with a warning that it's not complete so that those who only like to read finished stories can avoid it. Considering that most erotic stories of this length that I've come across end up as ongoing projects with no end in sight, I don't think it's unreasonable for me to assume that sometimes readers like to come back to a website periodically to read the next few chapters that the author has posted. I don't, but that's just me.
I'm still debating whether to wait and post it all at once, or release it as a serial. Either way it will likely be at least 6 months before the whole thing is finished. If you feel strongly one way or the other, I'd like to hear your feedback on the matter. Use "Allison" as the Story or File Name, and in the Comments tell me if you prefer to have me release the chapters one by one or wait until I finish it, and why you prefer it that way.
