Celestial Reviews 85 - May 18, 1996

Note: Last issue I posted a list of “excellent authors.” I realize I am
going to hurt someone’s feelings by leaving him/her off this list, and
I’m sorry about that. By putting a name on this list, I am stating
that I think readers can safely select almost any story by that author
and find a literate treatment of a topic related to sex. Here’s the
list (arranged alphabetically):

      A. Van Peebles
      Ann Douglas
      Backrub
      Bazarov
      BEAR
      BillyG
      Celeste (C'est moi!)
      D.A. Ignatius (DarkNites)
      Dafney Dewitt
      Damya
      deirdre (Sherwood Anderson)
      Delta
      Dirty Dawg (Dawson Rambo)

      Dorvis Slaughter
      Dr. Watson
      Ed Stauff
      Elf Sternberg
      Erostos
      Estragon
      Friar Dave
      Gina Marie
      Green Onions
      Jackie
      Javahead
      Jonathan Dzoba
      Linda B.
      Lori Grenci
      Lysander
      Mark Aster (Allen Sisters Stories)

      Rondu
Santo J. Romeo (Author of Martha Jane)
      smoot2
      Spook
      Stephanie
      SueNH (also WithSue)
      TEX
      Tom in Sacramento
      Vickie Tern
      Walter Slaven
      Wollstonecraft

Arranging these authors alphabetically was itself an interesting
experience. It had never occurred to me that listing authors
alphabetically BY FIRST NAME would make sense; but when almost all
authors are using pseudonyms, that seemed to be the best approach!

Here’s a second list. These are authors with whom I am not as familiar
as I am with those on the first list. By putting a name on this list, I
am stating that I think readers can _probably_ select a story by that
author and find a good story. Undoubtedly some of these authors write
stories that are even better than those by authors on the first list;
maybe they’ll move up to the other list the next time I do this.

I am absolutely certain that I will offend someone by my posting of
these lists. Please try to get over it. If your name or the name of a
favorite author is not on this list, assume that I made a mistake. If
you send me suggestions, I probably will not apologize; but I may add
suggested names to future lists.

In addition, names on a.s.s. are an inexact science. I suspect I have
listed a few people twice - under different aliases. In addition,
there are no doubt writers other than the ones to whom I intended to
refer who post with names very similar to those on my lists. For
example, there is another author named Celeste, who I understand is
almost my equal in the sack, but doesn’t write as well as I do - or is
it vice versa?

It would be helpful to readers if the authors would put their names in
the title line of the posting. A minor adjustment like that may make
it possible for readers to find your stories.

Second note: Consider writing a short note to the author of a story
that you like. The authors do not get paid for contributing to this
newsgroup. They need reader response not so much to boost their egos as
just to know somebody is out there reading. If you appreciate the
authors’ efforts, tell them about it. Likewise, if you’re concerned
about helping them avoid eternal damnation....

Third Note: I received the following information in a message from
Robin Roberts (robin@backdrop.com or file.archives@backdrop.com). The
BackDrop Club offers a service of helping people who are looking for a
specific file, story, or a chapter or section of a story. As I
understand it, this is a BBS that would like us all to join but offers
this free service on a limited basis to the general public.

If you are an adult and know the name of the file you wish to receive, send a
request using the following format:

TO: file.archives@backdrop.com
SUBJECT: (the name of the file you wish as a single word)

I am not interested in answering further questions about this service.
I HAVE used this service myself, and it is my opinion that it is NOT a
rip-off. If you need more information, contact robin@backdrop.com.
The BackDrop Club also has a Web Page at http://www.fantasies.com.

“Midnight Symphony” by D.A. Ignatius (Darknites)
(jash@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu). This story focuses on a loving couple who
are spending a quiet evening together, listening to music and watching
the rain fall. Initially sex is the farthest thing from their minds,
but the peaceful and romantic ambiance and memories of the past
eventually lead them to restful but passionate lovemaking. Nothing
much happens, but this is a very good story; sometimes nothing much
NEEDS to happen. As I read the story the music and the weather seemed
to match the pace of the dancing and lovemaking. I identify very
closely with the female narrator of this story; but you won’t be able
to figure out why (if you care) until the last paragraph of the story.

In CR 84 I announced that I was reviewing the last of the DarkNites
stories. I was wrong. Almost as soon as I wrote that sentence this
additional DarkNites story arrived via a-mail. Maybe I’ll get lucky
and be wrong again!

“Playing with Fire” by DOLFAN353 (dolfan353@aol.com). My husband
occasionally plays a mind game with me: he’ll be kissing me gently and
then he’ll slide his hand down to my pussy and say, “Now when I’m
kissing another woman, I’m not allowed to fondle her pussy like this.
Right?” I reply something about he damn well better not be kissing
another woman at all. And so it goes. This story describes a similar
mind game, only the husband is encouraging the wife to describe what
she’d like to do with another man. As the story moves along, these two
go much further than my husband and I would even consider in real life.
However, I have to admit it was very erotic to think of the wife coming
on to a handsome stranger, knowing that she could have him if she
wanted to go all the way, and also knowing that her husband was
watching nearby and eating it all up. If you play with fire, you might
get burned!

“The Photographer’s Daughters” by The Observer. Bob the Photographer
lived across the hall from the Narrator of this story. Bob had two
daughters to speak of; hence, the title of this story. The first
daughter was Julie, an 18-year-old of dubious virtue whose only
thinking apparatus was between her legs. Part one describes the
initial emboikment of Julie by the Narrator.

Wendy (Part 2) was sixteen years old. She was as much of a slut as her
sister, and then some. But she ignored the Narrator, and he ignored
her, no doubt because of his scruples concerning having sexual
relations with young girls. Then Bob went out one night and asked his
friendly neighbor to keep an eye on Wendy. Needless to say, our
Narrator fucked the hell out of the sweet young tramp and sent her home
to her mother and her boyfriend in another state, so that she could
give Bob a grandchild nine months later.

For Part 3 I figured there would be a third daughter, but instead Julie
returned and began playing mattress tag with our Narrator on a daily
basis, since her wealthy fiance was a bit of a drag. She went off the
pill, and our narrator disliked condoms. This was not really a problem,
since he and Julie and the fiance were all so virtuous; and besides, he
decided to teach Julie to like oral sex. He developed an elaborate
plan to get Julie pregnant the night before she married the other guy,
but I can’t tell you whether it worked.

This is an interesting story, even though it doesn’t have a clearly
focused plot. I started out thinking these people were hormonally
imbalanced imbeciles with no brains or emotions outside their genitals,
but then their personalities developed as the story went on. The
author writes in several different styles, and this makes for
interesting reading. I enjoyed this story.

“The Clinic - Suite 414” by Matix (matix@lloyd.com). This is a
clinical description of what happens to a woman who goes to a
gynecologist and asks for help in becoming more receptive to anal
intercourse. In a single session the doctor and his nurse gradually
introduce her to several “dilators” (a fancy name for dildos), and she
goes away with a much more positive attitude toward anal activity. The
story is so realistic that I presume a doctor could actually treat a
client in almost exactly this manner - although I don’t have any direct
knowledge that this is actually the case. It would be interesting to
know whether the author just made this up or whether the events are
based on actual experience. It would also be interesting to know
whether the AMA approves of this procedure and whether the typical HMO
will pay for it.

It might seem that a clinical description would be boring, but this one
was both interesting and erotic.

“For Celeste” by Grammaticus (an541328@anon.penet.fi). This is the
second poem that I know of that has been written about me. When I was
back in high school, our junior English teacher required us all to
write a poem. I wrote a (non-sexual) poem very much like this one, in
which I poked fun at everyone in the class. Mrs. Jones (not her real
name - I’m just being clever here) gave me “extra credit” for this
“interesting doggerel” and told me to write a “real poem.” She was a
bright lady and may have changed her name to Grammaticus by now.

Anyway, I enjoyed this delightful “poem,” and I think you will too. I
hope the author reposts it. You don’t have to be the person to whom
the verses are directed to enjoy a stanza like this:

So write down what you do in your bed,
Or the fantasies loose in your head.
      But don't make me read
      Of your doing the deed
With children, your pets, or the dead.

Here’s the best writing advice I found in the poem:

So write, then revise and rewrite,
Avoiding whatever is trite.
      For not every cock
Must be 'hard as a rock,'
Nor every wet pussy be 'tight.'

But this was a close second:

Your scenes may be so damned intense
Some readers may well take offense.
      But however you fashion
      Your tales full of passion,
Make sure that your verbs don't change tense.

I think Grammaticus took poetic license with some of my beliefs and
opinions, but that’s all right with me. I hope the author reposts this
Celestiad. After all, as the Bard says:

These stories can be helpful, too,
For those who have no one to do.
      For boys monkey-spanking
      (The Brits call it 'wanking')
And girls paddling their own pink canoe.

“Big Sister - Big Surprise!” by Megan Luce (Intimate Visions BBS).
This story was posted simply as megan2.txt. To be honest, I should
admit that I downloaded it because I thought it was a Dirty Dawg story
that I had missed. Instead I found a story about a girl named Julie
who left home right after graduation from high school. Julie has
become a successful model, and her long-lost little sister has come to
visit. It turns out that Julie is also a successful slave mistress,
and she sends her sister home happy.

This story is apparently intended to be an advertisement to encourage
readers to join the Intimate Visions BBS to obtain their Owngrown
Erotica. And so I was surprised that it contained an obvious mistake -
the sex-slave roommate was sometimes referred to as Carol and sometimes
as Kelly. Other than that, the story was a well-written presentation
of a simplistic plot that will appeal to many readers. If this is
typical of what Intimate Visions offers, then that group may be a good
investment. However, you can find lots of better stories on a.s.s. by
looking for the authors whom I recommend in my FAQ.

“Behind Closed Curtains” by G.C. This is another story that I
downloaded because it was labeled nancy.txt and I thought it was a
Dirty Dawg story that I may have missed. Instead I found a story about
a guy who looks through his girlfriend’s bedroom window and sees her
making it with her best female friend. The narrator describes things
in pretty good detail. As I was reading this very short story, I was
struck by the notion that this sounded like some of those narratives
you find in Letters to Penthouse Forum and similar publications. I
used to buy those at airports and read them when I was traveling, when
I wanted to get in the mood on my way home to my husband. I did this
when I was less mature; now I bring my laptop with a.s.s. stories
loaded on the hard drive. These letters are probably all phony, but
they have all kinds of interesting tidbits about bagboys screwing
cashiers in the stockroom at the supermarket and things like that.
Sure enough, when I got to the end of the present story I read that the
girlfriend had promised to try it again for the narrator, and maybe
even let him get in on the fun; and “...if we do, I'll be sure to let
Gallery know.”
