The first time the Dominion attacked, he was safe in his world of
words. He saw action, but it was all in the name of reporting. 
The story was what was important.

When the second Dominion War came, his words were of little
consolation. He had sat by the first time, as his friends went off to
defend something they believed in.

He wasn't sure he believed in anything anymore, but actions spoke
louder than words - didn't they?

So Ensign Jake Sisko was assigned to the USS Ptolemy, and died
fighting for an honor he wasn't sure he'd ever possessed.
