Chapter Thirty Three

The Bishop’s
housekeeper, the mother of the newly pregnant Jan and Sally, was Bridget, the
daughter of his previous housekeeper, Kate.
Kate had been
young, a buxom Irish lass who had become pregnant and was delighted to get the
position of housekeeper for a handsome, young parish priest. She had her baby, a girl she named Bridget,
and she’d remained housekeeper as the priest progressed somewhat in the
hierarchy. Kate was a weekly provider of
solace to the priest when he imbibed heavily of the spirit and this continued
when, as a young man, he became Bishop.
Bridget was
thirteen when the Bishop really took not of her precociously developed body and
with the full acquiescence of her mother; he began using her for his weekly
solace. The results were first Jan and
then two years later, Sally. After that
he decided it was less of a sin to use condoms than to continue to produce
illegitimate offspring.
Father Murphy was
unaware of the family connection between the Bishop and the pregnant teenagers
but had he been aware he would have worried less.
“Are they the only
ones who, to be crude about it, you and Brother John knocked up?”
“As far as I know,
Your Excellence,” the priest replied in a quavering voice.
“Well then, make
sure. I need to know just how many of
these innocent youngsters you profligate sinners have made with child. It’s not as bad as with the priests who like
boys. At least what you’re doing had
God’s blessing and this time we’ll clean it up with no negatives for the
Church.”
Father Murphy was
back two days later with the results which,
fortunately were negative as far as additional pregnancies are concerned. Had he checked a week or so
later though the result would have been different. But now the pregnant
Mother Superior was also present.
“Neither of you
deserve the resolution that the Diocese has agreed to but this is what will
happen. You, Ursula along with your
sinful cohorts, Sisters Sarah and Lisa will remain in your present positions
until you are unable to continue. Your
habits will disguise your condition. You
will then go to Ste. Adele’s Convent where we care for unmarried girls who
become pregnant but who are faithful enough to abjure abortion. There also the
two other girls will go but only when their condition has advanced enough to be
visible. Now all of you go back to
work…except you, Father Murphy. You and
your equally predatory Brother John must either have a vasectomy or leave the
Order.”
Father Murphy and
Brother John chose the vasectomy route and remained at the convent. The nuns returned after bearing their
children as did Jan and Sally and with their vasectomized
consorts, they were all able to enjoy continued pleasure of each other’s company.
The potential
problem of young Sherry’s pregnancy was fortuitously solved by a natural
miscarriage in her second month that she believed to be only a menstrual
disorder.
Most readers who have endured the many chapters of
this ridiculous fantasy will know that parts of it (possibly the best parts)
were published as stand-alone (lie-alone?) segments. Anyway the writer would appreciate comments
from readers who followed this to conclusion.
